For permanent marker on the bottom pf shoes, write on it with a dry erase marker, then rub it off right away with a papef towel or rag. It works great! 😉
I appreciate your honest and straightforward content. I keep coming back for that reason. I have been finding Dawn Ultra Powerwash DIsh Spray to be the most effective on the white sides of sneakers. I use it with a large bristle brush with a handle so I get more leverage and can really scrub the surface. I find it is superior to utilizing those white square pads which wear down so quickly - just spray, scrub and wipe afterwards with a cloth. It is also very effective on the bottom soles. Since it is just dish soap you don't have to wear gloves or be in a well vented area. Try it and see for yourself. Thanks again for being you!
Thanks for sharing that. I will try it out when I run out of these pads. I could possibly pick up some shoes I'm leaving behind now due to the cleaning needed. That method sounds very effective.
Goodness, this weekend, I was shopping for sneakers online, saw so many that were filthy which I wouldn’t buy as you can catch foot issues like fungus etc from dirty shoes on the inside, I haven’t sold shoes yet, but really you can catch stuff, thank you for cleaning your shoes before selling
Thanks so much, Sandra! I watched most if not all of your videos and learned a lot. I rarely leave comments, but wanted to let you know that i do appreciate all your videos, the way you share information and usefulness of it. I never left disappointed and always learn something new. Thanks a lot!
I've needed a video like this for so long, thank you so much. I'm awful about listing my shoes because I hate cleaning them, I sometimes don't even know where to start.
Cleaning the shoes is one of my favorite parts of reselling. I put on a podcast or an audio book. But i dread cleaning shoes that take too long or are too much work. Glad this video was helpful. Thanks for watching!
Your video is very informative and thorough. Like you, I try not to pick up shoes in need of more time-consuming cleaning, but if I do, I now have your guide as how to approach cleaning. Thanks so very much much!
Your videos are the best I’ve found. I have to admit I also put the time into making shoes as nice as possible and really enjoy the task. It’s therapeutic!
I don't. But I use goo gone to take off stickers. For stubborn stickers inside the shoes sometimes I just leave them and other time I use a heat gun to remove them.
Your videos are so well-edited. Appreciate how straight forward and to the point they are. What about insoles with a hole at ball of the foot for shoes that are otherwise in great condition for resale? Is it better to replace them with new insoles, or leave them in? Or maybe add new ones under the old ones? Of course, disclaiming whichever way.
Another great informative video. Thank you for sharing. I always lean something new from your videos. You are very thoroughly in demonstrating examples. You make great content.
Thank you for another great video! I've watched you for a few years now and you are my go to. Over the years, I have learned so much from you and am so thankful for your knowledge and willingness to share everything you know. I do have a question .. I have found a few pair of shoes with the dreaded black marker that will not come off after trying every single thing out there. You mentioned just writing over it in black. Do you put that in the description that there is marker on the bottom of the soles, or just show in pictures and let them see it on their own. Thank you for being amazing!
Thanks for being a long time subscriber. I appreciate your support. I've done both- just posted clear pictures and pictures + a disclaimer in the description. I think just the pictures is fine unless it's a very big mark.
Thank you so much for providing such an Indepth video on the process. I am always concerned about the cleaning process of shoes and what do I need to do to revive a pair for myself or to resell. My thrift stores like to write prices on the bottom of shoes and I did not know what to try to remove them because it embarrassing to cross your leg and realize that everyone can see the marked price on the sole of your shoes. Do you use the same cleaning process if the sole of the shoes are leather? Do you ever use shoe polish and actually polish the shoes? I really need to stop procrastinating and get to trying my hand at reselling because again I will have let a season go by and still have all this stuff sitting here. The only major move other than accumulating inventory I have made is ordering your sizing chart, but wouldn't you know it them my printer went kaput before I got a chance to print them. I finally saved and ordered a new one and it should be here tomorrow, and I can get those printed out and laminated, I already have the support stand for them. You don't use the brown paper for shipping? Just asking because all the plastic and environment, I am so debating how I want to go. Because I know plastic is more protectant during shipping but if it already is a plastic envelope is there a need? What your thoughts on that?
Hi Denise. I use Goo Gone to remove prices on leather bottom shoes. That usually does the trick. I only polish leather shoes whenthey really need it. Some people store their items in polybags and reuse those polybags when an item sells. I haven't done that yet. I find it easier to store and ship in the polybags for efficiency. But maybe in the future. I hope you have the courage to start this year!
You can remove the really tough permanent marker with pure acetone. You need to be extra careful, as it will ruin basically anything on a shoe except the rubber sole, but it works like magic.
I picked up a great pair of Converse low tops. When I went to clean them, I noticed they stink!! You can't put them in washer and the insoles don't come out. What do you do in this case? How do you get the stink out?? Thanks you for another great video! And I'm going to try the googone for the marker!
I've heard charcoal would work, but never tried it. I had this happen with boots. They smelled like cigarette. I decided not to post them and take the loss. It's not worth risking a bad review and unhappy customer.
Thanks for all your advise. I have watched a lot of video of yours and I have a question. What website are you currently using to share and post on your Mercari, Poshmark and eBay.?
Thanks for watching and supporting! I use List perfectly to crosspost my listings on all platforms. I use Flyp to share my Poshmark closet and send offers all day. What disenfecting wipes do you recommend ? Just starting on ebay if shipping shoes ground advantage what boxes do i use. what boxes for ground advantage tall boots? Thank you. I’ve enjoyed your advise. I sometimes use tub o towels on shoes being aware of cost will cut in half
I can relate. I'm always trying to be aware of costs and make things last longer. I use brown eBay shipping boxes for ground advantage. For small shoes a 12x6x6. They are out of stock right now. For tall boots it's this one: www.ebay.com/itm/256394406543?var=556497309667 They come out to a very good price the eBay coupon ebay gives seller every quarter.
Thank you Sandra for another great video! I really appreciate all you do. I started re selling a couple of months ago, I recently decided to re sell shoes almost exclusively, But i don't know what to do, Because I'm not seeing the results i was hoping for So now I dont know if I should keep investing money to grow an inventory that's not moving Or just quit all together? Did this happen to you when you started re selling? Do all re sellers go through this situation? Thank you.
Definitely don't quit. There's something going wrong along the pipeline. It could be either of these things: - listing styles or brands that don't have much demand - not enough details and keywords in the titles and descriptions - pictures not clear enough - too low or too high of a price on the listing - not sharing enough or using other selling tools available on the selling platforms And yes, this is part of the process- learning what doesn't work to see more what does work. If you haven't already, watch this video where I go over all the basics I explained above: ua-cam.com/video/aU6Caw7iJD0/v-deo.htmlsi=wx9SaCzfZIf_AJNs I hope that helps. If you have any other questions let me know.
It is possible that my listed items don't have huge demand I've been focused on getting a lot of items to grow my inventor and not paying attention to all those other details you've mentioned. Like picking up better brands and using better keywords and descriptions when listing my items. Sandra, I can not thank you enough for all your help and support Thank you!🙏
@@JZaga No worries. If you're still interested in growing a reselling business I suggest you offload that inventory even if it's at a lesser price than you intended. And from this point forward focus on doing a ton of research on the Poshmark app, learning keywords and fashion trends, learning lots of shoe Bolo brands, and getting good at checking comps. Good luck!
I'm definitely going to low my prices on all my inventory And see how that goes How do you decide whether you are picking up an item or not? Brand, quality of the item, or price? Or do you do comps on everything you pick up?
I just learned a hard lesson about cleaning shoes. There some shoes (Even athletic shoes) that have paint or material that cannot stand even a few seconds of scalding hot water. One pair can't be redeemed and the other is stained very badly but might be able to be saved. I think I only lost two pairs but I'm gonna be more careful in the future because they were nice shoes, I didn't pay alot for them but they definitely would've sold. I'm not gonna look them up because I don't wanna know anymore lol. Flew to close to the sun with delicate materials.
I have a few questions! Do you ever replace laces, and if so what kind do you purchase? Is it safe to use disinfecting wipes on all types of leather? Do you ship them with the paper inside? How do you clean dirty suede? Thank you so much!
Hi. I don't replace laces. I've found a few pair of good quality shoes without laces, posted them, and they sold okay. I do use the disenfecting wipes on all leather. You will have to let nubuck leather dry though. I ship them with the paper inside. I don't clean dirty suede. The most I'll do with suede is go over scuffs with an eraser and brush it out.
For permanent marker on the bottom pf shoes, write on it with a dry erase marker, then rub it off right away with a papef towel or rag. It works great! 😉
Interesting! I'll try it next time.
This is such excellent advice. I have been selling on eBay for years, mostly clothing and am starting to sell shoes, it is so much easier! Thank you!
Thank you so much for your job, a job for use! Slowly calm speech, all is understandable and a nice smiling eyes! Well done!

I shop a lot online too. When buying used shoes I always check for cleanliness too.
I also switched to exclusively selling shoes and I enjoy it so much 😂 I absolutely hated doing laundry when I was selling clothes!!!!
The listing part on clothing is what got me. Although there's some drawbacks shoes are much simplier in many ways.
I agree 100% I have switched to shoes, only do clothes if it is an amazing profit.
