    I noticed that when you were overdriving with clip guard on, the transients went really harsh.

  • @JackDenning
    @JackDenning 8 місяців тому +2

    The Clipguard is stacked AD converters!

  • @ZymanoKentaro
    @ZymanoKentaro 8 місяців тому +6

    the clip guard, are you sure it isn't just compressing/limiting? It does sound like that. Whatever it is, it's a very smart solution for it's target audience! If I didn't understand gain, I'd rather have a pumpy but energetic loud track for streaming/home recording, than some digital clipping/folding distortion.

    • @LEWITT-audio
      @LEWITT-audio 8 місяців тому +6

      For clipguard, we use ADC stacking, and the headroom is about 20dB, and in higher gain settings, even more. And 20dB is 10x, meaning a signal can be 10 times louder and it still does not clip.

    Interesting product, they should build this into a microphone/handheld recorder and they would have a zoom H4n pro alternative with a better user experience especially for the price point.

    I have half a dozen interfaces. I bought a presonus revelator io44 the other day cos..... it just works for streaming, F getting streaming apps to play nice with a 24 channel ASIO interface and a DAW at the same time. Also really cool lil pocket live voice FX box for 80 bux. But its nowhere near as automatic as that thing.

    • @everybodyhasoul5438

      I saw a review saying that the Revelator had some shielding issues. Have you noticed any noise?

  • @CLaw-tb5gg
    @CLaw-tb5gg 8 місяців тому

    It's obviously not the best news for professional audio engineers, but given everyone's recording in their (metaphorical or literal) bedrooms these days any company that basically removes any skill required in getting a decent sound is doing the right thing, in my opinion. I can imagine a future where literally all musicians have to do is plug in, give the vaguest non-technical instructions possible and the computer does everything. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that: barriers between creativity and final product suck (what is a bit gross is computers handling the /creative/ side of things, but that horse seems to have bolted already).

    Personally, I think an advanced auto noise gate is best in this application vs current AI noise reduction
    A lot of female streamers have an issue with AI based noise reduction where it interprets their voice as noise and mutes the sound. I've seen it happen on laughing, shouting, just shifting their voice higher, etc. A gate will not have these issues

      Than you so much for asking this, I’m happy to answer this, since a lot of people just make assumptions about it. There are multi reasons why I do it:
      - because I can
      - because I like a bit more colour in life
      - my girlfriend cannot paint her nails because she works in healthcare. She likes the art of nail painting, so she does it on my nails.

      Why? Asking that as someone who graduated at a time when recording to tape and "scrub" to then cut with a blade was something you had to learn.
      Don't underestimate the tools you got. There is no magic. There is skills.
      Back then we wished we had something like you have today in your DAW.
      The only thing I miss today is the intuitive mixing. I'm still struggling to find some workflow to get closer to that feeling. For instance, in REAPER I wish there was a logarithmic curve editor for the fader, to enable you to draw your own resistance curve. (a fader is basically just a tweakable resistor.)
