- In a classic game (arguably the best game ever between these two), Jerry Stackhouse, Rasheed Wallace and the second-ranked Tar Heels of North Carolina face Jeff Capel and the reeling Duke Blue Devils, who were suffering its worst season since 1983.
Game played on Thursday, February 2, 1995 at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.

I watch this live man these were the days
Tar Heels Fan Here. I Was 2 Years Old When I Was Watching the Game. My Dad Was Born and Raised in North Carolina. This Was the Best Game
Thank you for uploading this.
i bleed duke blue, and while it's a bummer UNC won this game, this is probably the best game in the history of the rivalry. It also has probably the best moment in the history of the rivalry (capel's shot). This was a complete off year for duke with coach k being out, and yet somehow the magic that is this rivalry produced a game for the ages.
2005 was by far the greatest moment in the last 35 years of the rivalry. A great shot only comes with a win. Austin rivers was by far a better shot than Capel. But Marvin Williams took the Cake with the and 1 putback
I am watching lots of old Duke games since I graduated. This is the only loss I have watched. I think it's the greatest Duke game I've ever seen, despite it being a loss...
92 vs UK not #1?
For someone who apparently hated watching basketball, Billy Packer had a very long career talking about basketball
It sure is one of the most exciting one out of all of them!!!! As everyone knows, there has been many of these over the years.
wow. Best NCAA game I've ever seen still to this day.
Facts
second best is UT-Kansas 2002.
This is one of the most exciting game in Duke VS UNC epic, especially Jeff Capel's clutch shot.....The deputy coach is just too bad.....
Greatest game in the history of this rivalry!
It's quite different watching this game compared to the Mike Patrick/Dickie V version.
The Stackhouse dunk without AMERICA ARE YOU SERIOUS LOOK AT HIM STRUT and Packer's reaction to Capel's shot.. it's really a contrast.
Dick vitale defined 90s college basketball to me
+Smileyfacedkiller Minus his love for Duke. Dicky V was great for the game. IMO the 90s and the 80s was the golden age for college hoops. It's gotten worse imo.
Allen Greene yeah cause of one and done and Kobe, mcgrady and the high school floodgates that opened up early 2000s. College basketball used to be one of the best sports ever now it's just been so ruined by the nba that I cant even watch it anymore
Smileyfacedkiller Granted most of these dudes don't come from the greatest backgrounds either so I understand why they go pro right away. If College athletes were paid I think you would see dudes staying in College for at least 3 years but the NCAA isn't going to budge on the issue.
Agreed
This game was on ACC Network and ESPN2.
I know that. I watched the original Raycom/JP version on WCTI TV-12 (ABC affiliate in New Bern, NC) and also I remember when ESPN showed USC/UCLA, they showed part of this game as "bonus coverage."
UNC, duke players always still had respect for each other.
what happened to Pete Gaudet?(from a unc fan)
+timjthru I think he's coaching high school!
wow. tim brant jeff capel three to send it to double overtime back on feb 2 1995
it goes!! tim brant and billy packer do you believe it!?! tim brant JP Sports you gotta foul!! billy packer r.i.p.

It’s not the same without OH AMERICA ARE YOU SERIOUS
The ceiling is the roof.go.tarheels.
Yeah I remember Duke was a lot better than their record that yr Virginia had prob their best non ralph Sampson yr ever and came back beat them in 2ot that yr
unc-duke at there best
this really was a classic show, you had all the duke highlights- players taking obvious dives a soccer fan would call over the top, no-calls from refs five feet in front of flagrant fouls, two white guys getting dunked on in a single play. the works
the one year duke was awful!
lets add 2017 to that list
shemakesitclap Let's not.
@@4theloveoflife and every year before 1990
They were bad in Coach K’s first few years before he got some players. There were lots of people wanting to see him fired, especially with UNC and NC State winning national championships in back to back years, but the AD at the time, Tom Butters kept him and over 35 years later, the thought of firing Coach K for anything less than some serious shit would be heresy.
