I am quite impressed with you little boat and your building techniques. I would not have expected that kind of speed from your power system. My only disappointment was the paperclip pushrod. Your boat deserves proper linkage oh well it works anyhow and quite well.

Thank you for sharing your build, there used to be a couple of kits for airboats during the 50's and 60's and plans can still be pulled from the internet.
One thing about airboats, they are a blast (!), whether as a model or full size and I don't know why we don't see them out here on the West Coast - must be a swamp thing - you think (?).

    • @antrigen1480

Samuel, this is where your throttle setting comes in handy, run it as fast as you can on a calm day till it starts to become light at the bow and then mark the setting, then use about 10% less power when the wind increases in speed.
You could also mount a canard or stabiliser on the nose to negate lift, by starting with 2.5 degrees negative and increase as necessary from there until you are satisfied with it's performance at whatever speed you decide to be the maximum you are comfortable with.
Or even add a few ounces of lead at the bow to give it a little more weight in order to help keep the nose down.
So there are a few options, with throttle settings being the most simple.

I made it finally. Numavig has some serious taping skills. I could not manage a decent job so painted in acrylic and wiped polyurethane over it. I added a brushless Turnigy with 1000mah 3s. It’s really too heavy so had to adjust battery placement further back in the next compartment. The prop yaw is way to much. I have even rudder deflection but no authority when trying to turn left😢. It hasn’t been run in water yet just on the grass and it does indeed scoot along nicely on grass (so long as I don’t need to turn left). Had to trim the rudder a tad above the bottom of the hull for this to work though.
I’m not sure how to fix my problem but…. Thanks for the plans and am interesting build!!!

EXCELLENT! the ultra light shallow V nosed stepped hydroplane hull from foam board and aircraft covering got some real *raging* performance from a little 2 dollar 180 motor. just a little bit of rudder in the water when it's moving slowly was a good thought too. guess I'm going to have to get some 2 mm motor/prop collets and a couple more ESC's, 180 motors etc

I hope someone tells me otherwise but I don't believe that we have any equivalent to that glue here in the United States.
For that matter, I've watched a few of your videos in the last couple of days and I don't believe we have a common source (someplace we can just walk in and grab some) for Depron or anywhere near the selection of foam at anything close to those prices. Some of us can get Adam's rediboard (we used to call the stuff "foam core" when I was a kid), but that's paper faced and MUCH heavier, and if you strip the paper it's still heavier and it curls up (not that it's all that flat to start with). At the hardware store, we can get much thicker insulation foam (about $33/sheet here), the fanfold foam that people used to use is pretty much gone (and was much more expensive, I believe something like $60/pack, I've never actually seen it, I was just told they could order it and get in a week), and IF you can get something at your local craft or hobby store it's MUCH more expensive (looks like 10-20x).

So, me and my son have completed a slightly modified version of this boat and yes, it is very fast for such a small motor. Its speed is due to the lightweight nature of the boat itself. The thing is almost weightless in your hand whenever you first build it. The only real weight is associated with the batteries motor Etc. Basically all the electronics. I would highly encourage anyone who's thinking about building one of these to build it. It works well. I will post my version of this boat here soon. Great job do the inventor my hat's off to you
