The coolant system in my car has a sensor buried in the engine, too. It will cost $1500.00 to repair. Back in 2022 I sold a First Edition from 1916 called “The Watchman and other Poems” by Lucy Maud Montgomery, a beloved Canadian novelist from Prince Edward Island. I didn’t know she did poetry. I saved all the selling pics. Sold on eBay for $4138.00 it was in great shape.
There are some really good first editions out there.
And sensors are deeply buried in some engines out there, too!
I had a car repair bill this past week and it was $169. And I had difficulty paying THAT! Had to borrow the money from a friend. Being disabled and alone....I can't even afford food lately. I had 17 surgeries on my stomach in the past 4 years. And all I've been able to eat is chocolate Boost. But it's better now and I went to the grocery store and omg! Groceries have gone up so much since my stomach closed up. I'd had gastric bypass surgery and the scar tissue rubbed together and closed the opening up to my stomach to where if I took a tiny sip of water, it came right back up because there was nowhere for it to go. So they had to do multiple surgeries to open up my stomach little by little and in that 4 years, groceries have gone up horrifically. Mayonnaise used to be $1.99. Now it's $8! And pimientos used to be $1 a jar and now they're $3. I love pimiento cheese and make it homemade. I was just astonished at the prices.
And I came across a utility bill from 4 years ago and I was losing my mind about that $325 bill and recently I had a utility bill for $743! And it's just me and I live in one room and $743!
Also besides the car repair bill, I had to take my dog to the vet and I had a doctor's appt. myself.
Being disabled, I used to get $288 a month in food stamps, but the powers that be gave me a $48 raise on my Social Security, so, as a result, they cancelled my food stamps and raised my medical insurance. You just can't win.
And my Ebay sales have just stopped lately.

That car repair cost is ridiculous! Bad in Georgia....but not THAT bad😂😂. Get over this way permanently! Haha
I have found even first edition BOOK CLUB EDITION books can bring good money. I've sold a first edition bookclub Dune for almost $200. There are "gutter codes" on these books that will tell you whether it is first BCE or not. I used to avoid all book club books, not anymore. I've bought a single book to fill out a series a couple times, as a complete series can bring double a nearly complete set. The nice things I like about books is they can be bought cheap (usually $1 or less), they are super easy to ship. The problem depending where you live you can't store in basements or garages. They also tend to be slow sellers. But turning $1 into $20, or $50 or more is pretty sweet. I don't get the margin on any other item. And you have to have them organized, so when you sell a book you can find it. I use a simple letter code, each shelf in my library is labeled shelf A, shelf B and so on. And then I put that in my listing. Sold a book set today, paid 60 cents (10 cents each), sold for $30. Took 2 weeks to sell.

The part about labor prices and car ownership. When you said "watcha going to do, you have to pay it" sadly, I think some people are just going to stop registering and drive around without licenses and ignore the smog process. Every time I am annoyed, I know there are a group of people who are just going to opt out. Which is a vicious cycle.
That's it. It's in everything. Think of property taxes. Just saw an article about a man who is 65 and living in Montana and his TAXES are at nearly $8000 a year. Basically a renter from the government. It's all nuts.

I live in Seminole County Florida near Orlando and there are no smog inspections here. I understand if you sell your home in California and move out of state California will charge exit taxes.
They are trying to on bigger amounts. The amount I would take they won't be taking anything extra.

First editions can be very tricky. I have a first edition of the Gregory Rabassa translation of One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez....but it's not a first issue because it doesn't have an exclamation mark after the first paragraph on the dust jacket! That little punctuation mark turns a $75 book into a $400 book.

I enjoyed this video on First Edition Books. I am wondering about a First Edition Book I have that says First U.S. Edition 2023- it is a Heather Morris book called Sisters under the Rising sun. How do I tell about this type of book. I am so unknowledgable about this subject.
That means that the true first first is probably AUSTRALIAN. Tattooist of Aushwitz is her best seller. That book was turned into a mini series. Probably not worth a lot. If signed maybe a bit more. Thanks for watching.
