The world's most beautiful building - Lincoln Cathedral

- Catching title but to me Lincoln Cathedral is the most beautiful building there is - maybe along with the cathedrals of Salisbury and Exeter.
The main building stages were between 1072 and 1280. The rather menacing west front of the Norman period was later "gothified". The east end is of a perfect blend of early decorated style.
At the end of the video there are a few shots of Lincoln Castle (housing a copy of the Magna Carta) and the Medieval Bishop's Palace (closed when I got there).

Die Kathedrale von Lincoln ist meiner Meinung nach mit den Kathedralen von Exeter und Salisbury das schönste Gebäude der Welt.
Sie wurde im Wesentlichen zwischen 1072 und 1280 gebaut. Die etwas brutale normannische Westfront wurde später "gothisiert". Das Ostende ist eine perfekte Mischung von Früh- und Hochgotik.
Am Ende zeige ich noch ein paar Aufnahmen der Burg (in der ein Exemplar der Magna Carta aufbewahrt wird) und des Bischofspalasts, der leider geschlossen war.

I agree with your title. I go back and forth between my favorite cathedrals, but every time I look at Lincoln it's just wow! My favorites are Lincoln, Milan, and Cologne. The Cathedrals with most beautiful and elaborate interiors are Wells, Ely, Canterbury, and Reims. The best of those are Canterbury, and Ely. They are just breathtaking inside. So much to look at. It's an eyegasim! The Wells Chapter House is so beautiful! The Reims Rose windows stacked on top of each other are astonishing! Great video!!!
Thanks so much! I have a changing top 3 as well: Lincoln, Salisbury, Exeter. Wells and Ely are in the top 10 at least as well. Not much into those outside the UK as I love the more broad gothic. Reims rose window is gorgeous as well of course.

I have seen many pretty English churches but I must admit, that Lincoln Cathedral stands out among all of them as a gem of particular beauty ... What helps in conveying a great image is the lovely weather: the light cast magic on the day of recording, at least outside ...

@@anotherview1 Nach meiner Rechtsauffassung können die (also der Eigentümer) es nur verbieten, dass man von da startet (oder so tief fliegt, dass es wirklich störend ist). Aber das hat mir den Ort nicht sympathischer gemacht...

A difficult call, however Lincoln Cathedral, exterior is up there among the finest. Internally for me it has to be Canterbury.
Nothing except Salisbury can beat the interior of Lincoln in my book. Canterbury is of course very close to the top as well for me...
