Hello, At 2:40 you mentioned that no ATC reception is guaranteed but I don’t think that ATC considered as NAVAID. If you can clarify please, that will be great because I’m still trying to understand why we have that GPS MOCA (blue MOCA) on some IFR charts if we are actually using GPS and not NAVAIDS (such as VOR).
You are correct that ATC is not a navaid. If you fly at the MOCA, you may or may not be able to talk with ATC. That’s why flying at the MOCA is not assigned by ATC, but it’s at least a safe altitude you can use IF you can’t maintain the MEA. Does that help?
