Great reaction! Thank you so much Alex Dauterive! This singer is not Floor, in this video is the Original Nightwish singer - Tarja Turunen (pronounced: "Tarya" Turunen). She sung on Nightwish for almost a decade and recorded the vocals for their five first studio albums. Due to personal problems with Tuomas (the main composer) there was a messy dismissal and a new singer came to replace her in 2007 - Anette (Floor is already the third singer for Nightwish). BUT the good news is that Tarja Turunen has been having an amazing solo career in the past 15 years... Her voice is not only high but more than that is dark and really powerfull, and she is very theatrical on stage... I'm so glad you liked it! As a sugestion, I'll leave you 2 links for some Amazing Live performances by Tarja Turunen in recent years: 1st - an unbeliavable version of "Supremacy" (a Muse cover) also at Hellfest festival - very powerfull high notes: ua-cam.com/video/wmMBI_0X3oE/v-deo.html 2nd a very energetic live version of "Victim of Ritual" (song composed by Tarja)... the crowd really goes wild at this one - from Woodstock festival: ua-cam.com/video/GxDnhbGTJSs/v-deo.html I hope you enjoy these ones as much as I do! Cheers!
That's Tarja (Tar-ya) their first singer and she's fully operatic. She sang Phantom of the opera with Nightwish, long before Floor came. Henk Poort learned to sing with grit, so he could pay omage to Nightwish's version of the song, on Beste zangers. ua-cam.com/video/8VgLKXD-BoY/v-deo.html
Interesting start to enter Nightwish with that song. As some already mentioned: this is their first singer Tarja Turunen, who was with them from 1996 until 2005 and recorded 5 albums (Angels fall first, Oceanborn, Wishmaster, Century child, Once). This song/video is from their "From wishes to eternity" live dvd, which was recorded in 2000 (released in 2001). There exists another dvd "End of an era" from their last concert with Tarja in 2005 (the day after she was fired). Since then she has a very successful solo carreer. Before Floor Jansen joined the band, there was another singer called Annette Olzon. She was with Nightwish from 2007 until 2012 and recorded 2 albums (Dark passion play, Imaginaerum). Due to the fact that the band never wanted a "copy" of Tarja and her operatic voice, Annette was more a pop/rock singer. They never recorded a live dvd with her, but there exist some "unofficial" ones like Montreux Festival, Gampel Open Air, Exit Festival and from a concert in Tokyo. Floor Jansen joined Nighwish during the US leg of the Imaginaerum Tour in 2012. There exists a documentary about the tour and the circumstances of this change called "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours", which you can find here on UA-cam in finnish language and english subtitles. Meanwhile Nightwish recorded another 2 albums (Endless forms most beautiful, Human :II: Nature) and 4 live dvd's (Wacken, Tampere, Wembley, Buenos Aires). On the Wacken concert she only sang songs which were written for the previous two singers. Tampere and Wembley were recorded during their Endless forms most beautiful Tour. The one from Buenos Aires was recorded during their Decades tour, where they wanted to celebrate the previous 2 decades of their carreer and digged out some very old songs.
This was a pleasant surprise as nobody requests usually a song this old. But as others have already pointed out, if you came for Floor, you'll have to check out some newer concerts.
and its a shame because those days with Tarja were their exemplary proving grounds and skill adaptation for the great Floor era.. love to see her take on this classic as well as pharaoh sail to orion...
This was not Floor but the first singer of Nightwish Tarja . Floor joined in about 2013 , please react to Nightwish songs whit Floor , you will not believe your ears , she is the very best ❤️
Tarja and Floor are very different, and both great every one in her own way. I'm an Iron maiden fan and Bruce is THE Iron maiden for me, but i like the songs with D'anno as well... What I'm trying to say(forgive me for grammar mistakes), Nightwish with Tarja was incredible symphonic metal and i liked it very much, but nowadays Nightwish with Floor is great too in it's poppy way...
Interested to know why you picked this song over all the other recommendations from your last Nightwish video Noise? This was not Floor( the current and best singer) It was the original singer from way back Tarja Ghost Love Score from Wacken will show you what Nightwish and Floor are about. After that any other song from Wacken.
Let's be honest - even picking this Tarja song over all the others... ick! "Over the Hills and Far Away" video, "Nemo" video, "Sleeping Sun", "Come, Cover Me", etc. I like both Tarja and Floor (who are friends who agree not to talk about Tarja's firing). This song's not good.
... having Floor singing every song with that quasi -classical, soft approach(oh sorry, muli-layered pop approach) is just what you expect from a metal vocalist
Floor could not possibly sing this song nearly as well..tht quasi-classical poppish style she has is a joke compared to Tarja's rich, fluent, dark, powerful haunting splendor
as boring as Floor's sleepy, oh forgive me , poppy, layered renditions of most Tarja-era masterpieces...get a clue..Floor is off to Dutch pop country, land of sweet meadows
Great reaction! Thank you so much Alex Dauterive!

Thank you I’ll give them a watch!
Floor is their third singer and this was the first one - Tarja Turunen. This rendition is very old and they are very young here.
One of their best songs! It's a shame they don't play that live anymore 😔 the keyboards are so freaking awesome!
Tarja always was be nightwish , because for her voice that was reconoiced ..
Tarja is very special, indeed ..that flowing, dark deep, reverberating resonance if hard to mimic

To each their own. This song and this performance of it remains in my Nightwish top ten to this day and I’m delighted to see a reaction to it.

Tarja was the best classical singer they ever had..love Floor but she is no Tarja
Floor is the best pop singer of Nightwish, agreed
The quality of the audio of the songs you provide your listeners is very poor.
Tarja Turunen versions.... should watch Floor’s. Forget Tarja
Simply don't watch then.
I don't think they ever performed it with Floor.
Floor could not possibly sing this song nearly as well..tht quasi-classical poppish style she has is a joke compared to Tarja's rich, fluent, dark, powerful haunting splendor
@@Enderu666 and they never will...power metal is now out of Tuomas repertoire...reminds him too much of Tarja
Floor could never do this song justice...she is a pop star now..
Booooorrrriiiinnngggg
Simply don't watch then.
not enough tight outfit, flutes, soft singing and hair rotation...
as boring as Floor's sleepy, oh forgive me , poppy, layered renditions of most Tarja-era masterpieces...get a clue..Floor is off to Dutch pop country, land of sweet meadows
