Some of these comments are so pissy. I don't hear anyone "murdering the song". I just hear a friend paying a heartfelt tribute. A tribute is not intended to duplicate the honoree's voice or version of the song. nor the hit record. I don't know who this lady is, but the sincerity and love shone forth.
Because everyone is an expert these days. They think their, mostly ignorant, opinion matters and feel compelled to sh1t on anything and everything in the most pissy way possible.
@@melgrant7404 “Murdered” is one hell of a strong opinion when it’s a pretty simple and perfectly in tune cover of her friend’s biggest hit song. I presumed you’d have something to back up such a brutal assessment of it. Seems not.
@@filmneye Yes I figured that out. It showed that she had a deep connection & that this was more than just another song to her. The emotions & connection was real & from the heart.

What an exceptional tribute to Sinéad. Thanks Imelda, beautiful voice you have, thanks to the spectators that participated so respectfully. All the hairs on my arms stood up and applauded.
Literally THE BEST version of this song next to Sineads! Unbelievably stunning, raw and heartfelt- the way Sinead used to sing it! NOW THIS IS A TRIBUTE!!!!!
Fabulous version and tribute to Sinead by the always excellent Imelda. And thanks to the man who held his mobile phone up over everyone else's heads to record this performance for us. 👍
U may shoot a performance for yourself with your shit of a mobile phone, but please dont fill up that crap into youtube. U just destroyed the marvelous performance Imelda always does on stage.
I am a freaking mess after hearing that, thanks Imelda, and you for filming this and sharing, I'm on my lunch break and I have to pull myself together before going back
Sinead's rendition of Nothing Compares was and still is peerless, but the marvellous Imelda May came as close as is humanly possible. Great job Imelda, a most fitting tribute. RIP Sinead.
That’s the best rendition of Sinéad O’Connor song I have ever heard. I don’t think there is a person alive who was not touched by that song. What a brave woman Sinéad O’Connor was through her adversity.❤
Go way out if that. Love her music and yes she was right about the church but she wasnt the catalyst. The youth of her generation (including myself) got educated. Lifting Ireland out of poverty was the catalyst. A political change that was open and outward was the catalyst. A post colonial, post civil war ecconomy that was global not and not under the yoke of the pound sterling.
Absolutely beautiful. I am struck by how silent the audience was during this performance. Not one hoot or yell or clap, until they start singing along. Sheer respect.
I hadn't heard of Imelda May before stumbling across this video, but My Gawd what a voice. So glad to hear such a raw, heartfelt tribute for her friend Sinead🎶💜💚♥️🌌

I could feel her emotion. Spectacular performance and a great bluesy version of this song. Well done Imelda. When everyone started singing along, I really lost it 😢 Our beautiful Sinead gone and her true fans are still so heartbroken 💔
I can't stop crying, and I've been through so much in the last few years, losing my very nearests and dearests, including a very close friend of myself and Imelda's, my best mate Spanner, but I literally cannot stop crying, I'm heartbroken x x x 😞
As Sinead had, you also Imelda have a beautiful voice and are an equally lovely person as she also was. This was a beautiful tribute to her by you, both Dublin women who can be very proud.
That was truly beautiful Imelda... I was fortunate to meet Sinead a few times (the 1st when i spent a night out with her & the late Ulick OConnor in circa 2001 in Raynards Dublin. What an amazing soul. We share the same vocal coach in dub & I'm just sad she's gone. A true poetic beauty ❤ rip
As Sinead did through her life, she sang our soul. Imelda, through their shared capacity to manifest this quality, took responsibility with the audience and shared their response, to honour a generational and more than that artist and human rights voice of love and compassion. Only saw Sinead once live and was glad my daughter was there. A remakable women.
Thank you Imelda. This is just so beautiful. 😢You are also one of our true MnA /woman treasures. I celebrate you all, your beauty and contribution to Ireland and the world…Sinead, Dolores, Imelda, and Lyra…thank you so much for the beauty and gentility in this world…MnA are making this world better. P.S. I think Sinéad would have been blown away at the outpouring of love & respect bestowed upon her since her untimely passing! Sadly, this happens so much ... People wait until a loved one departs before their adoration is full expressed ~ 💔
Wowwwwwww ❤ This has brought tears to my eyes, taking me right back to when Sinead first blessed our ears with her voice with NC2U way back when I was a 10 yrs old in 1990 😢 RIP Sinead 💔💔💔
Imelda May is great. Sinéad O'Connor is beyond comparison. Too bad this song belongs to Prince. Sinéad wrote and sang so many great songs. Rest in Peace and in Power, Sinéad O'Connor.

It is so very obvious that you actually admired and loved her as I know you did, wonderful tribute and a wonderful voice that captured the emotion needed to sing it 👏👏👏👏👏
We all have a share of the same journey that Sinead had in this earthly life. She made the world to know and to be aware how it is. Sadly just how many would come forward to give comfort, offer company and helping hand. She has shown the world that too. Goodbye Sinead. Thank you for your person. You did your job well. God have decided.
Merci Imelda et merci aussi aux musiciens qui l'accompagnent : l'arrangement musical est original et différent de ce que nous avons l'habitude d'entendre.
