In the Hunted season, which I think is season 10, Kai mentions that the ninja are still teenagers. Keeping that in mind, my personal Headcannons for the ninja’s age are as follows:
Cole: definitely the oldest, at least in my opinion. As of right now in Dragons rising, i want to say he’s around 24/25. (My headcannon is that only three years passed between the merge and where we are with DR today.)
Kai: 20/21
Jay: 19/20
Nya: 18/19
Lloyd:17/18
Sora: 16
Aaron: 16
Zane: idk
Pixal: her physical body is only six years old? Something like that.
Skylor: 20/21
Harumi: 18
Vanya: idk if it was just her character or what but she seemed pretty young to me in MotM. Around 16 then, so probably 18/19 now?

@@reeseneal8795Yeah hunted really messes things up, but I like to consider it that since they are elemental masters they’re aging is differently, so I like to consider Kai was talking biologically (so not how many years, but how their body is) so just to fix hunted, I like to consider Kai was talking biologically so how their body is aged not the time that has passed.
I'm still surprised that Zane might be over 50 or more, but it makes sense with the timeline of his father and before meeting the other ninja

In hunted, the ninja state that they are still teenagers, just old teenagers meaning they are probably about 17 in hunted, 19 at the most.
Additionally, in Seabound, Misako says that Kai is grown man now, suggesting he is 18, 20 at the most in seabound

This is my personal headcanon too, based on those two statements.
I always thought that the show began when the ninja were 14 because that's the age Kirby Morrow thought the ninja were.
So when the Oni Trilogy began they were 17, which makes sense because we know at least 3 years has passed and they are still teenagers. This makes them them 20 in Crystalized, which is when Misako said they were young adults.
Imo they're 18 in S8-11, & 19 in S12-15, & 20 in S16, & now in DR currently 23 yrs old.

Putting this here, Lloyd states in Dragons Rising he took years of training under Wu to learn Spinjitzu, so as weird as that is, it means that between Lloyd being discovered to be the Green Ninja to Pirates vs Ninjas there were at least 2 years we skimmed over even tho he had no physical change

Or it could just be a writing mistake, also lloyd is discovered to be the green ninja late s1, too much things happen in a small window of time for any significant months to have passed, and then after s1, a short amount of time passes to start s2 and then pirates vs ninjas, it’s either lloyd exaggerating it or just a plot hole or mistake

Kai is two years older than Nya. I read somewhere that Nya was 13 at the time of the pilot season and Kai was 15.

I think thats true abt them being 2 yrs apart, but Imo Kai was 16 in pilots-S2 & Nya was 14. Imo pilots-S2 is yr 1, so Nya would be 14 & Lloyd be 12.
I honestly wished ninjago creators would just tells us the ninjas age instead of leaving it up to viewer interpretation, but believe they’re all legal adults now.
It has been stated that they want to keep the ages up for interpretation so that all viewers could relate to them

I think it has been something like 2-3 years since the Merge because before the Merge, I think Arin and Sora both seemed like pre-teens based on Arin's voice and Sora's skills

Regardless of what you guys all think, I hope that we can agree that all of the ninjas are adults now, no longer teens. And for my personal estimates, I agree that the original four are in their late twenties, early thirties even, while Lloyd both chronically and physically is in his mid-twenties.
I also wonder on what happened to other characters such as Garmadon & Misako, Dareth, Harumi, and most importantly Ronin and Clouse, since Clouse is likely still the Ruler of the Underworld, which has been mentioned to have merged with Ninjago. And of course, Ronin is probably having the time of his life with scraps and metals.
To me I think that the og ninja are in their early to mid 20's in dragons rising (at least 21 years old)

They've been dating for 8 yrs, & were kinda sorta engaged for 6 yrs, imo (the series has been going on for 8 yrs in-universe, including DR). I've got a whole timeline, & I think it makes alot of sense. & I think Jay & Nya should get married at some point, it'd be SO awesome & cute!
I think that they already have already married but it wasnt shown since in Masters Of The Mountain Nya states to Queen Mut that Jay is her Yang

Even though he was physically and mentally aged up, I still think of Lloyd as being significantly younger than the others just because I go by how many years he’s actually lived

As a fanfiction writer, this really helps a lot into understanding the characters I’m writing. Even if you’re not a fanfiction writer, videos like these give more depth into why a character acts the way they do, based on their ages. Even though my headcanon doesn’t line up completely with Tanner’s, the Era system helped me understand the Ninjago timeline and gave me some new insights on the characters. I also create a "Ninjago" story of what would happen next, that they have children, powers, enemies, they grow... (life), although I don't know if it's the same as you do, but it definitely helps me a lot to know the ages and give me an idea of how they are.
Imo the timeline is this: pilots-S2 is yr 1 (where the 4 were 16, Nya was 14, & Lloyd & Harumi were 12), then yr 2 is S3-7 (cuz S6 technically was only 1 day, & S4 could easily be a few months after S3), then S8-11 is yr 3 (cuz S11 could easily be a few months after S10), S12-15 was yr 4, S16 to pre-Merge was yr 5, & now DR post-Merge is 3 yrs after S16. & the 4 ninja & Skylor are 23, Nya & Pixal are 21, Lloyd & Harumi are 19, Nelson is 18 (he was 12 in S6), & Arin, Sora, Euphrasia, & Wyldfyre are all abt 15 currently post-Merge in DR. & I think my timeline makes sense, & would help fanfic writers like you!
& abt the Tomorrow's Tea. Imo once Lloyd was affected he was 12 mentally & abt 14-15 physically, but he was aging like normal mentally, while his physical age slowed down, so by a certain point, both his ages caught up, I'm thinking abt yr 4 (S12-15), & now Lloyd is 19 currently in DR.

The primary instinct of being excited
My main problem is that in season 9 it is specifically stated that Jay and Kai are still teenagers, just of the adult variety, I base my entire predictions off of that fact.
The question is do you consider 18-19 teenage years, or is your cutoff 17?
I don't think that Zane would grow the 5 years after the merge because he was deactivated during that time until Kai and Nya woke him up.
I feel like post merge would be complicated ( and I guess wrong in the video ), Nya says she woke up post merge and found Kai helping the people from the Madness Realm, meaning Kai has already spent a while post merge.
Therefore it would be safe to assume the merge not just made people go to different locations, but also different moments in time, same goes for Kai waking up when Lloyd had been at the Monastery for a while.
Obviously some seasons take place very close to others in the timeline so I put that into account for my personal Ninjago timeline, which is:
The pilots to S2 is yr 1 of the entire series, where the ninja are the following ages:

& abt the Tomorrow's Tea that affected Lloyd, I think once he was physically aged up, his physical age slowed down, while he was continuing to age mentally normally, & by a certain point, his mental age & physical age caught up with each other. & I think he was 12 yrs old mentally but abt 14-15 yrs old physically once he was affected by the tea, so by the time of yr 4 (S12-S15, before S16) both his ages caught up.

Edit: Basically, Ninjago is split up into 8 yrs including Dragons Rising. The 4 Ninja are no older than 25 yrs, Nya & Pix are no older than 23 yrs, & Lloyd & Harumi are no older than 21. Ofc this is my own opinion, but I just can't see how the ninja would be in their late 20s to early 30s.
Tanner, your timeline makes sense (your ages timeline, not really), but I personally I have my own. & tbf pre-Merge can easily be the same yr as S16, but post-Merge is ofc 3 yrs later. I don't see DR being 5 or more yrs after S16, to me, its just too far-fetched, but 3 yrs is very reasonable & more possible. & also, Tanner, its been confirmed that Nya & Kai are 2 yrs apart from each other.
Tanner, you should've taken into consideration that Lloyd hit puberty in S8, so how would he be 18? & on average, abt 14 is the age that ppl's (specifically boys) voices deepen, among other things😐. & Imo my timeline makes sense so Lloyd was 14 in S8-11.
season 3 to season 7 definitely takes a bi longer in my estimation about two years. Not to mention I definitely think lloyd needed to be around 14 after child's play. In seasons 8-10 he is around 17 because I personally think harumi especially needs time to build a whole gang and plan and research about everything.

But I'm pretty sure it's said that Nya is 2 years younger that Kai, I think they were 3 and 5 when their parents left.
I also put the ninja around 14-16 when they start, because they're still referred to as teenagers for way too long if they were any older at the start.
I think ninjago's society is quite different, Nelson seems to be starting a job (albeit part time) younger than we would and they all get jobs in season 2

What I mean by "they" is that all robots whether they are a nindroid type, or any other types, they'd still look the same unless if they have been for a very long time just like what happened to the old Echo Zane, and got rusty all over the body parts.

I think Kai is at least two years older than Nya, because he held her when she was a baby. And Zane I believe was built during the Serpentine War? Since nobody but Jay and Cole probably had legitimate schooling and there are plenty of farms still around all of Ninjago, I'm thinking that Ninjago's definition of "legal adult" is around 16-18, I go by this because there are probably a lot of kids who went to high school only to go back to working with their families, some maybe getting internships while still in high school. So if Ray and Maya had not been taken then Kai and Nya would have probably been home schooled and also helping work the Blacksmith shop and maybe when Kai was 15 or 16 Ray would let him, and even Nya, fully run it because they would both be responsible and know how to manage the store. Without then Kai and Nya definitely learned things from the other villagers but because they seemingly had no family, and Wu apparently didn't want another Morro incident with "adopting" that is why Kai and Nya, two very clear teenagers, ran their shop. But that's just me trying to wonder why these teenagers never mentioned school all that much. Good timeline age video Tanner, definitely see them younger than what you have here but I get where you're coming from.

There are three canon things that you probably don’t know.
Nya is two years younger than Kai.
The ninjas were 14 and years old in the pilot episodes and Nya was 12.
And in one of Brent Miller‘s videos I don’t remember which on, but someone in his video said that the ninjas are never going to reach an age higher than 20 but dragon rising it’s his own thing so they can perfectly well be 20 and up
The only thing I would change would be making Nya 2 years younger then Kai

Finally someone who actually uses logic. Most people hc season 1 Lloyd to be 10 and they're saying that his actual age (aka his age if he aged normally) is 13, which means that in their opinion only 3 years passed
Yeah, as you said while something is not confirmed there is no rights or wrongs, but there has been i think more than 3 time skips, all of them being about a year, so it's just not logical

Like last year, I’d say you’re pretty much accurate for the ninja’s ages.
Kai and Jay are most likely the same age. Nya is probably two or three years younger than them. When he got aged up, Lloyd is either the same age as Nya or a year younger. Cole is about a year or two older than Kai and Jay but probably aged down a bit when he became a ghost because ghosts don’t age (I mean look at Morro. He died a teenager and was probably like that for 30 years). Zane was most likely built during the serpentine era which was 40 years before Hands of Time but it really depends on how you count his age.
We have a few hints on the ninja’s age like in Hands of Time, Krux called the ninja “a bunch of kids” which could mean none of them are 18 yet or that he considers everyone under 21 a kid. In Hunted Kai told Jay that “they were still teenagers” meaning they both could be around 19 then. And in Seabound when Misako says that “Kai is a grown man” meaning he’s 21 and it’s been two years since Hunted. So when we get to Seabound here’s how old I think the ninja are……
Kai and Jay: 21
Cole: 22
Zane: either 102 (counting both original form and titanium form) or 62 (just counting titanium form)
Nya and Lloyd: 18 or 19
When we get to Crystalised, all the ninja are one year older except for maybe Nya who probably didn’t age when she became one with the sea so their ages would be……
Kai and Jay: 22
Cole: 23
Zane: either 103 or 63
Lloyd: 19 or 20
Nya: probably the same age she was in Seabound
For Dragons Rising, it doesn’t say how much time has passed but Nya did say it was years. So by then I’d say the ninja are in their mid to late 20s except for Zane who would be in his mid to late sixties. As for Arin and Sora, yeah I’d say they were kids when the Merge started and in the present day they are teenagers.
Zane can be a Master at this point lol
And technically Zane will outlive Lloyd by well forever 😂

Well approximately Nya and Lloyd seem to have the same age, but your theory makes more sense . Eventhough in S7 Kai looked like a 3 years kid when he was holding baby Nya and when she grew up he hasn't change, but we can suppose that maybe sometimes a 1 year old can hold a baby

if zane has the same memories, you could argue that his body is new but his mind is older. which would me he would actually be well over 100.

In season 9, Episode 5: The Gilded Path, after Wu has aged to a teenager, Kai mentions that they are all still teenagers. Jay responds saying that they're "grown up teenagers", so its likely that Kai, Cole and Jay are likely 18 or 19 in Era 4.

My personal headcanon would is
(Era 1) Pilots-Legacy of the Green Ninja. Cole is 16, Kai is 15, Jay is 14, Nya is 13, Lloyd starts off 10 and is aged up to 13. For Zane, I usually go with 40.
(Era 2) Rebooted is a year after LOTGN. Cole is 17, Kai is 16, Jay is 15, Nya is 14, Lloyd is 14, and Zane is 41.
(Era 3)Tournament of Elements-Hands of Time. Cole is 18, Kai is 17, Jay is 16, Nya is 15, Lloyd is 15, and Zane is 1 because of the new body.
(Era 4) Sons of Garmadon-March of the Oni. Cole is 19, Kai is 18, Jay is 17, Nya is 16, Lloyd is 16, and Zane is 2.
(Era 5) Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu-Seabound. Cole is 20, Kai is 19, Jay is 18, Nya is 17, Lloyd is 17, and Zane is 62 (60 years in the Never Realm).
(Era 6) Crystalized. Cole is 21, Kai is 20, Jay is 19, Nya is 18, Lloyd is 18, and Zane is 63.
(Era 7) Pre-Merge. Cole is 22, Kai is 21, Jay is 20, Nya is 19, Lloyd is 19, Zane is 64, Sora is 12, and Arin is 11.

Note: Era 8 I can see the Ninja being older that's why I put at least 3 years.

These would really be the ages of their bodies because for their actual mind age, Zane would be 108, and Lloyd would be 21 since the ages shown in the video are of their bodies

During Hunted, Kai confirmed that the original four ninja were still teenagers, with Jay responding saying they were “grown-up teenagers”. This means that they can’t be twenty in era 4. My guess is that they are older than 15, but younger than 19.

Its stated in hunted that the ninja are grown up teenagers so around 17 - 18 and so that makes nya 16 because kai is 2 years older than her, and in crystalized they are probably a year older, in dragons rising arin and sora are probably 14 - 15 which means that they were 12 - 13 pre merge which makes the ninja probably in their 20s
To my theory Kai looks after nya same thing is kind of like his parents Ray is older than Maya Maya is just like nya she's youngest nya and Maya are the youngest in the family
From secrets of forbidden spinjitzu we learn that some realms have different timelines so I believe that after the merge the ninjas ages would be mixed up excluding Lloyd seeing as he was still in Ninjago post merge so I think some ninjas may have spent more than 5 years depends on where they woke up
I feel like it goes like this since Kai and Jay say they are teenagers in season 9, Wu is way over 1000, Misako around like 50-60+, Pixal was just born in Era 2 and got older each era normally and Skylor is probably same age as Kai, seems safe to age lloyd up 3 or 4 years with the tea, i dont see how he’d be approximately the same height as everyone else if his body only had like a 2 year growth spurt while they are all adult sized

Pretty sure it’s confirmed Kai is 2 years older then Nya. And I personally don’t count Lloyds age to grow when he grows up, he still is in the mind of a child/10-11 year old, and you wouldn’t go into puberty at 18.

I agree with everything except your thoughts on Erin and sora. I feel like even though it’s not a big gap from your opinion, it would make since as a story if they were 16. Seeing as a big plot line is Erin and sora growing into the ninja they could become, I feel like 16 makes more sense. In most situations, 16 feels way bigger than 15. Bigger than a difference between 14 and 15. But other than that your ideas seemed pretty spot on.

I'd say start of in era 1 (pilot to season 2) with Kai being 15, Jay 14, Cole 16, Lloyd around 11, Nya 13 and Zane 38.
Lloyd would've physically aged up to 13 in season 2 but he wouldn't physically age further until he actually reached that age.
Using the same time skips as you, by the start of era 2 (season 3) their ages would be:
Kai 16, Jay 15, Cole 17, Lloyd 12, Nya 14 and Zane 39
By the start of era 3 (seasons 4-7), they would be:
Kai 17, Jay 16, Cole 18, Lloyd 13, Nya 15 and Zane 1 (40)
Then in era 4 (season 8-10) after another year having passed they'd be:
Kai 18, Jay 17, Cole 19, Lloyd 14 (he'd now physically age again, explaining the voice crack and it isn't so weird when you put him next to Harumi now), Nya 16 and Zane 2 (41)
By season 11 we'd add another year, so:
Kai 19 (explaining why his mother said he was a grown man but why he said he was still a teenager), Jay 18, Cole 20, Lloyd 15, Nya 17 and Zane 3 (42)
Come season 15 another year-long time skip so the ninjas would now be:
Kai 20, Jay 19, Cole 21, Lloyd 16 (he'd be old enough to now work as a window washer), Nya 18 and Zane 4 (43)
Then for Dragons Rising, I'm just gonna add the one year skip to the pre merge era and the time skip post merge together so that's about 6 years:
Kai would be 26, Jay 25, Cole 27, Lloyd 22 (he's finally an adult, good for him), Nya 24 and Zane would be 10 (49)
As for Sora and Arin, I'd assume they were around 10 when the merge happened so they'd be around 15 during Dragons Rising, around the same age as the OG ninja were in the pilot era. I also wouldn't put them at any older than 15 because both Arin and Sora (especially Arin) show a level of maturity that's akin to Jay in the early seasons.
I'm pretty sure recently in Dragons Rising Season 2 Part 2 that it had been 5 years inbetween the merge and the present, so you were right
Kai, Cole, Jay, Zane, and Nya would be young teens in the pilot to season 7, young adults in season 8 to season 15, and adults in dragons rising
Lloyd would be a young kid in season 1 to half of season 2, 13 or 14 kid in the next half of season 2 to season 7, young teen in season 8 to season 15, and young adult in dragons rising
If you do the maths. (Ray being around his kids after Lloyd is born, and we know he left when Nya was three) that makes Nya at max three years older than Lloyd

I would personally make the starting ages three years below that.
The Era logic is very sound, but Eras 1 and 4 are where I question it. In Hunted they say they are 'grown up teenagers' which is 18-19.
For that to fit, Kai and Jay's starting ages would be 15. Cole would be 16, so on.
You could make an argument that Seabound rectifies that, and that's the Era where Kai and Jay reach 18-19, but I personally think this makes more sense as it's still believable that Kai would be able to run a whole shop by himself at the start.
Between Nya and Kai is 3-4 years because when Maya and Ray left Nya was 3 but Kai lookes much older
In sons of Hamadan, there was a flashback of Harumi as a child. She was a little child during. I’d estimate she was like 6 or 7 at the time. The flashback shows her as a child when the great devourer attacked ninjago. And during sons of garmadon, she was all grown up. So I personally think that since she kissed Lloyd, she’d be atleast 18. So I’d estimate that between season 1 and season 8, that atleast 10 years had passed. Because according to the video, sons of garmadon happened 3 years after season 1. Which would make haromi about 10-12. And with Lloyd being all grown up, that’s a little wierd for him to develop feelings for her. But she definitely looks all grown up which supports my theory

My son has recently started watching Ninjago. I remember in one of the recent episodes from crystallized or the movie, one of them (I think Kai but could be wrong), explicitly states his age at 16.
in the movie it is stated that lloyd turns 16, however the movie isn't considered canon in the tv show universe

In my opinion, I think Dragons Rising actually happens 2.5 or 3 years after the merge. Not as long as 5 years but also not as short as 1 year. Because if the time skip was too long, there will be no time for more development of stories.

I think to be realistic elemental masters seem to live longer than regular people. But none of the ninja are in there 30s. So based on factors like the ages thrown out, like Kai becoming a man or an hunted when it says Kai and Jay are still teenagers. The fact that Nia is three years younger than Kai and but there’s no way a bunch of 15 to 17-year-old were beating up. older experienced warriors. Their ages have to be around as followed.

-Kai and Jay- 26
-Cole- 27-28
-Zane- 100+
-Nya- 23
-Lloyd- 22 because of the aging potion.
-Sora and Aaron- 16-17 because you need to keep in mind that Aaron needed time to learn spinjitso and Sora in the brightest tech mind in the world. So they can’t be under 16. They also need similar strength to a regular adult before all there training.
One more point. The ninja need to be older, especially Kai just to make Nia older because there’s no way they would’ve aired a genie trying to seduce a minor character in season 6.

It's funny, I got into the series with Dragon's Rising and honestly thought Lloyd was the oldest ninja. Imagine my surprise when I went back to season 1 and saw him as the baby of the team.
