Strings By Mail - Tension Device Experiment #2

In this second experiment with Strings By Mail’s patented Instrument Emulating String tension measuring device we will demonstrate the impact of different string gauges on string tension.
Players we can feel that different string gauges change tension. Here we demonstrate literally how that occurs and any proportionality it may involve. This is one of many important features that players experience with their instrument and their playing.

This is a good contribution. In Exp. #1 you made a comment about not using math but if you can estimate linear density of the test string under tension (not just its gauge) this and the tension can be used to see how the usual formula tracks the data - then repeat for different tensions.

You should use a peterson tuner into a computer to track the shifting of pitch under + and - loads...
