There's definitely the primordial DNA of Oracle in 'Sissy', but I'm seeing a lot of it in that priest as well, with the roots and high damage nukes on a supposed healer. But yeah that Edgewalker looks like he'd be a real fun character to try, not big bombastic game-winning abilities, but lots of constant needling and harassment in new ways. Also I think he could easily be the undisputed lane harasser with just his first ability alone, but imagine the rage he could cause by tugging over-eager melee carries a bit too close, and getting them locked behind a creep wave under a tower.
The priest is definitely the unrefined Oracle, it even uses the same model, weird he saw more similarity to Oracle in Dragonhawk (Who has arcane seal, skywrath's silence)
Yeah I definitely agree. For example, I could see the mortar team as a prototype of Snapfire with the long distance bombardment concept. Further, I think some of these heroes were tests of other mechanical concepts, like the whole manipulation and utilization of enemy positions shown here with sissy and edgelord or whatever his name was and realized later in dark willow and mars in a way. Seems like etherealness was also a concept of interest at the time, but I cannot say what came of it except maybe wraith skill being somewhat similar to the ghost shroud that was later given for necrophos.
The edge guy would hard counter any meelee carry, lmao. You bet that they would have to buy BkP the moment they see him pick. He might also be a good help for abilities focus heroes like zeus, too
Great video as always. Though you forgot to mention that Wyvern's Wind Barrier was in game for a time as it was Storm's Spirit second spell in his first iteration.
Wyvern Outrider and Edgewalker are almost like a prototype to Void Spirit. The shield and Wyvern skill 1 resemble a lot to Void skills, while Edgewalker pulling mechanic is like Void Remnant
Wait, a hero whose ultimate requires attacking from very far away and whose basic abilities are all relatively short with crowd control... I think the Mortar team inspired Snapfire. Hell... Mortimer kinda sounds like Mortar.
@Raven you make it sound as if that's a bad thing. i dont care about your opinions on the game or anything but i just want to point out that what you are suggesting is pretty much innovation.
@@TheStoso2 I don't think that's all, when Dennis said that the first skill is doing something like reload animation and it's effects is silence and slows, it's somehow similar to snapfire's 1st or 2nd(I don't know where) skill thing where she do a reload animation too and shot a cone shape thing which slows and disarmed the enemy is somehow similar too...well Dennis said it has the same name and function as Sky's W but he's not sure too
Edgewalker, Dragonhawk, and the Wraith feel like the most well-developed and interesting heroes out of this bunch. If any of them have the potential to reemerge like Mortar Team likely did with Snapfire, I imagine it'll be Edgewalker and the Wraith getting announced this TI - if only because they feel like they'd be the most relevant to the lore of the Nether Reaches and Narrow Maze, one of which is the likely destination of this years TI minigame.
How about an episode about the in-game quests preceding the return of invoker into the game, the add of tauren chieftain and phoenix back in the day? Also showing those broken-ass itens they dropped if you managed to kill them during game.
5:54 the outrider is vaguely similar to Falstad in HotS, which I thought was funny since the wyvern/wind rider was the orc equivalent to the Alliance griffin rider.
I have some experience in W3 world editor, I can tell the heroes really are in progress, the skills feel to easy to code and the kits kinda don't synergize well.
Edgewalker will be wayyy toooo fucking OP in dota. Imagine placing death watch on creeps that are low and the enemy carry or even midlaner gets damaged and stunned if they want the last hit (while you can simply just deny the creep). Also if the ranged enemies' last-hitting projectile is in the air when you cast the skill......you can see how it'll end. Not to mention it is only 50 mana and 6 second CD and you can practically deny all the CS unless the enemy wants to take harass every time. Also imagine AOE (up to 10 second) ghost in the laning phase with heavy magic damage or even in teamfights against melee heroes.....You simply can't lane against him, or be any melee carry against him. Hell, ranged carries will have a ridiculously hard time against him too during laning phase and they'll have to reposition in fights to avoid the ward. also imagine 3 difference instances of silence.....rip channeling spells.... he can literally silence 3 separate places... imagine that.
@@TheDoctorIWhoit's muerta, the only thing not the same is ghost revenants ult. Wraith became pierce the veil, turns them ethereal. Blackjack became dead shot, skillshot with cc. Siege Mode gave me Sgt. Hammer ptsd from HotS lol. Also Wyvern Outrider's ult i would guess was the inspiration for Moira's ult from HoN. AoE that makes inmune all units in it's radius that at the end of the duration gives speed to allies and slows enemies, difference between both being that Moira's ult it's a smaller AoE that expands and randomly positions units affected
dennis, look for the last map with fun mode in it, ull find there heroes there, mortar team for example could make the game crash with its ult, and there were other heroes also, including a dragon (puff) that has 1 active, 2 passives and 1 ult, that dragon had like 5-6 forms and could swap between them when he was using a spell, the forms were fire, ice, death?, mana burned and others, look for the map, it also contained some very very broken items

There's snapfire who pretty much is a mortor team-esque seige character not just with her ult but with also her Q and E which can provide huge burst potential...and her ult can give long rage artillary in a teamfight
