I knew Greenville was pleasant. Whenever you have a good collection of historical buildings, it serves to highlight just how uninspiring and bland so much modern architecture is. Greenville wouldn't be what it is without its historic core and the park and waterfall.
My problem with greenville is the they keep building on woodruff Rd and 29 and its really crowded there not spreading the stores its all compacted in one area
This was super helpful. I've been looking at the official Greenville videos for tourism and they make the whole town look like a resort. This is much more realistic. Still very lovely, but not flawless. I agree with others that it looks larger from your drive than a 70K city. Hope they don't over build and take away the quaintness too much. There was sadly, even some graffiti. But great job presenting a clear picture. Next stop, a visit to Greenville!
one of the most beautiful cities in the south with more than 500k people and almost a million of the greenville metropolitan area has something to fall in love with that others do not have❤

It almost as nice as Columbia. (I live there) But I have to say Greenville has a lot more of a big city/small town feel. Definitely less homeless people! There is a lot more development going on around the city. Columbia sometimes looks like it’s at a standstill with construction opportunities.
I live in SC and Colombia is by far my least favorite part of the state. It always feels like the most impoverished and generally unclean part of the state. Greenville beats it by a long shot in my opinion.
Thats because Greenville was made rich from tourism from the late 1800s from the rich slave owners that lived in Charleston n the midland n surrounding states. Greenville/pleasantburg was their vacation spot to escape the heat of Charleston n the midlands etc...Greenville become the richest county in South Carolina off the rich
Im from Greenville. When they started renovating everything about 8-9 years back... They put a BUNCH of homeless people on buses & sent them to Columbia. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ Maybe that's why. 👀
@@jeffersonmartin3221 those are good states but the older I get the less I tolerate cold weather. I considered Florida but thought SC would be a good middle ground. Not to cold or hot and only an hour away from the mountains which I love. Hopefully next summer
This video was very helpful. I live in California and it was nice to see clean streets. I actually saw people using their blinkers. That was a refreshing sight.
Wooow Greenville is a beautiful city I thought it was a 68k town. Investigate Greenville is sitting in its own county with more than 500k and a metropolitan area. almost 1 million more people who columbia surprises that gives you life
@@shunpreek79 Spartanburg is in the name of the CSA, so it's obviously gonna get counted the numbers are from a while ago as im sure it's at ~1.8 million now.
I've lived here my entire life (36 years)...it is NOT as great as so many say. Yes, there are restaurants and cute shops, but it's CRAMPED, traffic is awful, construction everywhere, and it's become 80% apartments and condos. The zoo is "okay", there is a nice little history museum/art gallery/main library. The park is pretty but again...overcrowded for its size and parking is abysmal. All events downtown are packed shoulder to shoulder and are a nightmare to try and attend. 20 years ago, it was PERFECT for that small town/city feel. You felt like you were part of the community when you attended events. Now it's just PEOPLE PEOPLE PEOPLE and I don't enjoy living here.
I moved from Greenville County a few years ago to San Diego. Greenville has a bus system, if you can call it that, but it shuts down by 6PM, and doesn't even run on Sunday. And so many areas aren't covered. Was nice to move somewhere with a real transit system. Now I drive less than 2,000 miles a year. Used to drive about 25,000 a year in SC. My insurance dropped like a rock when I got here.
There are always people downtown walking around. This had to be early in the day when people are at work. Public transportation isn’t that important when the area isn’t that big. Very walkable. Too much construction right now. Since covid I haven’t been downtown much. I cant wait for main street jazz and downtown alive to come back.
@@JAPelicano1 where would you recommend, looking to relocate a young family of three. I really like greenville but I keep hearing the same issues you stated.
Michael Bailey wait, you moved from Sc to one of the most expensive cities in CA with property taxes out the wazoo and you’re talking about your insurance dropping? What about the cost of... everything else?

Yes it's my hometown and I know these streets well. The west end is really growing. There's a new apartment building every month. I love it
how is crime?

Yeah Greenville definitely looks like it's growing faster. In terms of metro population it's now #1 in South Carolina.

Yeah the city population numbers don't do it justice due to SC's annexation laws.
To b honest it should be over 1.4 million because Spartanburg would be considered part of greenville metro in any other state!

I don't see much of public transportation, nor do I see too many people walking about--seem like an unfriendly pedestrian city.

Nice driving Downtown Greenville 😀
Greenville turns in to concreteville.
Like Indiana and Illinois
beautiful city of greenville with a metropolitan area close to a million do not think that you will find a town of 68 k
True. The official population number of the city limits can be deceiving.
Why too much road construction 🚧 it’s not pleasant to dive .
Welcome to SC. It's a way of life.

Greenville SC is better.. he didn't even take you to Laurens or woodruff road . Its way more going on
Yeah but it's too crowded they need to spread it out
I not into this place. My kids would like it they could get lose. And I would have more gray hair.
