I'm doing research on different kinds of filters for an SHT thru hike, and I just lit up when I saw that you had made a video about it! I pulled up some other videos to watch too, but I had to watch yours first--your videos just make me smile! And this was a very informative and helpful video! Thanks :)
Sawyer came out with a new filter this year. It’s called micro. Small like the mini but filters better like the squeeze. Also, I believe they are making the bags better where they don’t leak.
I just looked that one up. It looks really similar to the full, but weight 2 oz (same as the mini). Does come with 32 oz bags. Mine haven't started leaking yet. Don't know how long they will last. I thought sawyer was making a filter that screws on top of a SMART water bottle and has a breather on it so the bottle doesn't scrunch up while drinking... Know anything about it yet?
good video I use the mini I have 1 liter bag and use smart bottle. I bought the blue gray adaptor gravity works charcoal filter. I use it as gravity system. The gravity works will help with that taste
i have or had the mini (i think it was tossed out by a family member as it was in a bag with empty bottles and i guess looked like trash) and i just got the squeeze and i gotta say it looks a lot easier to use. the mini has a very slow flow rate and it makes you want to squeeze the bag but they burst if you squeeze hard. the gravity feed system on the sawyer squeeze looks very effective compared to that.
Thanks I've been wondering about how to make a gravity system with this specifically cause taking the grands backpacking. The one thing I know about the mini bottles is they will fail around the neck so handle with care. Our bottle busted in the field. Since I just use them on a dirty bottle like you said.

Jeremiah Stringer I watched a video of the new micro and it looked like the water bottle still scrunched so I don’t think it has that feature.
Well I hope they do make one with a breather. Can't remember where I heard it from.
Great video.
Question: If your filter freezes and then you thaw it out, is it usable again?
It ruins the pores inside the filter. Toss if it ever freeze
hey thank you for the great video!
My pleasure!

I'm going to start taking the coupler adapter to gravity feed mine too! Appreciate you watching!

The sawyer full size always does great for me
