That's what I find slightly frustrating being a drummer... as we're usually forced to the "backseat", there are not so many nice action pics of us. It feels like for every 10 cool photos of the guitar player there's only one of the drummer, if at all.
I always make an effort to get shots of the drummer. Unfortunately you guys are always in a seating position so the variety of shots is limited.
I use Canon R50, just for amateur shooting, no complaints from my side. Very easy to use. However, the basic (and cheap) 50mm f/1,8 (which is about 75mm APS-C) lens has very slow auto focus.
The entry level Canons are good for learning but auto focus is non existent
