BEFORE YOU COMMENT: The 'MEH' Category at the start of the video doesn't mean BAD, just means it was an alright game that I didn't love. I could of used a better word, i had like 1k subs at the time and just wanted to push some buttons. Far cry 2 is a fine game, just lacks a story that pulled me in at the time of its release. As for primal being in dogshit I will stand by that (although the words 'Dogshit' is a tad mean) . Primal has amazing gameplay but I'm just not into the ooga booga story, plus the games map was a MASSIVE asset flip of far cry 4, with the entire maps landscape being ripped from far cry 4 with just different trees and environmental details
say mate would you kindly also list all of the songs you used on this video they just HIT very hard everytime you used them oh so well in every bit of the video love your work ever since i found it your essays are a joy and your animations are really cool keep at it
@@Yeawedodat happy too! 1. No protagonist You are a nameless no one who holds no real gravity in the plot which is a big change, as the 2 far cry games that came before had your character develope with the villian 2. Setting The idea is BRILLIANT! however I find the excuse for this game not having the government step in when a religious group has taken over an entire valley is dumb. We have seen American religious groups buy up islands and manipulate people to join them and then be monsters. Would of worked better. 3. Joseph seed Super cool villian, I cannot lie, but not very deep compared to the other villians roster. Dude spoke to God and just ended up like this. Sure he has his past, but the game is written for you to think he is insane for his ideas and you never feel any motive to push back on the idea he is crazy. Every other villian in farcry is kinda crazy or insane from the get go. But through writing you can see why they are the way they are or even see the logic in thier hatred or malice. You never get that with Joseph seed. Dudes insane because religion and its a shame. 4. Ending The canonical ending has the insane villian be right which is an insult to everyone who plays the game. If your a non religious gamer and liked taking down the villian and rescuing the people of the valley you are basically just told that God is real and Joseph is a hero. If you are religious you are told that God endorses Joseph and that's kinda of insulting I guess? The ending sees Joseph being correct about God giving him a mission and the ending is just to set up dlc for you to buy. No satisfying ending. The game isn't bad, just not remarkable. The game doesn't really have much to say like the others that came before it. And what it does say it says poorly
@@Zenny-UA-cam lol you think about it way deeper then me hey that’s fine we enjoy the game for different reasons and thanks for responding there all valid reasons
I found it interesting that when castillo tries to force Dani to join his army, she is already wearing the uniform (even though it was just intended as a disguise). One of those symbolic things begging for better subtext or narrative weight that sadly doesn't seem to really exist
The thing is, not everything needs to be a message. Not everything needs nuance and subtext. I agree the game could have used more of that but the uniform was meaningless by that point
started the game liking it, ended the game emotionally fatigued and frustrated. The point of far cry is being a "far cry" from home, but here you are at home. That's not a bad thing, but they did absolutely nothing with that concept. At times i wished it was a GTA story instead, where one of your allies betrays you and flips the whole story upside down. Or, you know, Diego running away is the main plot point, he joins libertad and castillo flips half yara upside down looking for him.
Perhaps Danny/Dani is harboring Diego and Castillo knows it. That gives the player a reason to stay hidden and use the stealth that Far Cry is kinda known for. And it also establishes a very specific relationship between the player character and the antagonist like other Far Cry games have done (Vaas and Jason's mutual obsession with each other, Pagan's unrequited fatherly feelings Ajay, Joseph's desire to "save" the deputy in the only way he knows how, even the Jackal grows to respect the merc you choose to play as) That's something I personally felt was really missing from 6. In most of the previous Far Cry games, the main character and villain have a unique relationship with each other that drives the plot but in 6, they don't even see each other in person more than twice throughout the entire game. Castillo doesn't even know who the hell Dani is until the very end and until then, he has every reason to believe she's been dead a long time ago. Instead of having any relationship with each other, they just feel like two disconnected half-characters forced to be together because the plot says so. Generic Good Guy with almost no convictions beyond "dictators bad" vs Generic Bad Guy who seems to be aware of his role as the Bad Guy. Giancarlo Esposito is the single greatest thing about this game but even he can only do so much on his own.
@@chickencurry420damn man that was amazing 😳 I would actually love a game that has two characters maybe even family members that are enemys of each other that would be cool
There's a theory that Crytek just called it "Far Cry" because they liked to use the word "cry" in their game titles, and apparently there were references to a secret government project called far cry in Instincts or Vengeance or whichever one it was, which could have tied it back to the title of the game to begin with. But when Ubisoft made Farcry 2 they scrapped it all. So it's still up for debate on how the name came to be technically speaking.
I found myself rooting for Anton the longer I played the game. They made the protagonists so unbearable that I found myself skipping all the cut scenes
@@Zenny-UA-cam Lols I'm up to the "It's fun." part of the video and already I'm getting a pretty clear picture of what's going wrong. That and the miracle tobacco. Honestly I did not expect that.
@@Demogorgon47 it has so much promise but I could never attach myself to anything. Which is weird for me because even in the recent far cry games which I’m not the biggest fan of but there is always a little something that keeps me interested like the villain or new setting or new themes. I like the style and themes but it’s just never intertwined like it was supposed too.
Wait, WHAT?! A tobacco variant that cures cancer?!?! And I here I was just talking about "that odd one out" in a series with a random ass unnecessary plot divergence! Oh well, at least you don't have to take malaria pills in this one.
@@KiraSlith I actually kinda liked it it made it felt like you're not some invincible soldier you were dying and had to treat it otherwise well you died lol
@@YEETUSDAFEETUS You're free to your opinion, but most people really didn't like that. It had a bad tendency to go off mid-combat, or while fleeing a random encounter, and in my case got me killed a few times.
This video got recommended to me today, I suspect a lot of other folks too but holy shit, excellent work and concise points, checking the subcount was surprising. Well made content, keep it up.
@@Zenny-UA-cam he has been voted in for a year already. Compared to his dad. Shit ain't fucked yet. Its either the bar is too low or too high. Give it a few years more. Thats how long his dad took to be very controversial.
I really think that it would have been a great game, really really great, if it just took itself more serious, there should be space for humor, but it becomes tone-deaf when it's half and half all the time. It showed such great potential and I was really invested in the world and story but it killed it for me when the characters flip-floped from "sacrifice is needed for a revolution, you may even need to sacrifice your morals for the betterment of the people" to "isn't it just soooo fun to kill people"
This good and fun game really could have very truly great. With a decent skill tree and human guns for hire who help you up when you're down. There is much that could have been done.
I really liked that they gave us a fully voiced male or female protagonist, and Dani is definitely likeable, but outside of maybe El Tigre or Philly, I just didn't connect with any of the other characters in the game, and overall they were pretty forgettable. The Maximas Mantanzas goons were absolutely insufferable, and I barely remember anything at all about Clara or Yelana for example. Libertad frequently felt like a bunch of college buddies messing around and getting drunk on the beach, not a formidable guerrilla faction capable of taking out a well armed military and overthrowing an experienced dictator! Giancarlo Esposito was amazing as always, but was underutilized, is barely even in the game, and isn't even personally aware of Dani until a significant portion of the story has already passed! To be fair, Joseph Seed and Pagan Min also had very little screentime, so the main villain being underutilized and in the background too much has been a frequent issue with Far Cry IMO. The way Far Cry 5 handled Joseph Seed's minimal screentime was by having 3 really interesting and memorable side villains in the Seed siblings. The 3 main side villains in Far Cry 6 are extremely generic and have the charisma of a brick. That lack of compelling side villains really hurt the story of FC6 for me and made me a lot less interested in continuing on. This is a bit of a random rant LOL but overall FC6 just felt rushed and rather unfinished compared to FC5. They finally patched up some of the main issues with the game, but you can only do so much once the game has been released. Far Cry 5 >> Far Cry 6 by a mile!
What I would give for an epilogue mini-campaign where you can take power for yourself in Yara, and that means taking a flamethrower to the Maximas freaks.
The best way ive been able to describe my feelings on FC6, from the gameplay to story and everything in between, is that it feels like a Just Cause game without all of the fun over the top parts. And the parts where it does try to do that it gives us the most bargain bin version of it.
FC6 should allowed me to have an option to side with Anton at the get-go cuz i felt like every actions in the rebel is alot more worse than what Anton is doing
That seems to be a running theme with Far Cry games: making the villains nuanced enough and the heroes morally grey enough that you start wondering if you're really the good guy.
To be fair... on the dictator point. The Phillippines IRL did the same thing. Yeah it was stupid, but it's not like it's never happened. Anyways great video!
Good to see another Aussie making high quality content. Makes me wanna get off my ass and reboot my own channel already. It's honestly criminal how few views this has despite the effort you've put in. You've earned a new sub, my dude.
I have played every single game in the series before playing this game, and for the first time in the entire franchise I had to take breaks while playing this. Not because the game was long, difficult, or intense but because quite a few moments during the campaign I couldn't believe what I was hearing or seeing during the cinematics or dialogue sections. A major problem is the tone flip flopping between intense seriousness and whacky silliness often one after the other. Like something will happen either related to Castillo or his regime to show brutal and dehumanizing they are, then afterwards your character will react as anyone would in horror and Juan (who may just be the most infuriating character in the whole franchise) will demean whatever it is and compare it to his own lengthy past as a revolutionary while mixing it with some absurd comment or joke and then whatever atrocity Dani has just witnessed is never discussed ever again, or Juan will just chock up whatever you have just witnessed as part of a Guerilla fighter's typical lifestyle while trying to put a positive spin on whatever horror you've just seen. All the while the supporting cast are so ungodly absurd that calling it ridiculous doesn't even do it justice, many of these characters seem like they would be more at home in a typical Grand Theft Auto game then people taking part in a revolution to overthrow a dictator. I mean sure having over-the-top characters is nothing new for Far Cry, just take a look at Hurk or Longinus as examples from past games but often these were side characters and not part of the main cast. So they couldn't detract from moments in the main story that were meant to be meaningful, whilst the main cast in Far Cry 6 are biggest bunch of clowns I have ever seen in any game outside of GTA. Dani's regional allies consists of an angry woman who's an expert at close quarters knife combat (ok her I kinda of liked) , a Rap Artist, his angry girlfiend, & their silly sidekick cameraman, some retired revolutionaries who with the exception of one of them have basically given up, and a self-important group of revolutionaries who seem to think they are the only group trying to free Yara despite that not being even close to true or even remotely believable. At the very end once Castillo is dead, they all ask: "So what now?" All seem to agree on two things 1. Yara needs a leader until elections can be established and 2. No one group trusts each other to be in power but they all do trust Dani. SO Dani should be the new temporary ruler of Yara, Dani immediantly rejects this idea saying they should run the country together and tells them not to screw up while walking out of the room. Like personally I wouldn't trust these people to run a coffee-shop let a lone country. Dani then walks off into the sunset, while making jokes with Juan about being a Guerilla fighter. It's a terrible ending and one that leaves so many questions unanswered.
Took the words right out of my mouth. It always a treat seeing love formed comments under my videos. Shows how passionate people can be when it comes to story's, and it sucks when said stories just don't hit the mark... far cry 6 could have been so much more
@@Zenny-UA-cam Oh well thanks, honestly it felt good to vent my frustrations over this game's honestly terrible narrative. I have played and loved almost every game in the series, and I was gearing up for more of the same, Far Cry to me is almost a comfort franchise, I know people complain about it being a franchise that never changes but that's honestly ok with me as it's a comfortable loop. Although despite what people say it has changed in the worst ways possible, Far Cry always had the checklist activity driven open worlds that are typical of Ubisoft games. NEVER though has it been this painful to play through a Far Cry game, not only are there the aforementioned problems with the narrative but Far Cry 6 is at last for me gone to Far (no that wasn't a joke). The story is TOO LONG, the open world is TOO BIG, and there are far far TOO MANY activities in the open world. So despite owning it since launch I put it off until just this week because I had watched other videos and seen screen shots. The game is overwhelming, its' narrative problems are probably it's biggest problem but everything else is too. Despite the fact the old comfortable Far Cry gameplay loop is in there somewhere it's burried beneath mountains of content and silly gimmicks that Far Cry doesn't need like the resolver backpacks, animal companions, and characters endlessly trying to get you to do side content to the point it makes the already memed to hell and back Preston Garby from Fallout 4 look like nothing by comparison. Makes me a little sad but hey what are you going to do?
@MrDueltube I'm hoping for a more toned down far cry in the future. I for one am keen for the new avatar game coming out this December. Looks like far cry, just a different setting. And it's from the same company, so we shall see
@@Zenny-UA-cam Same here, got my fingers crossed. Though unlike before where I would typically pre-order any new Far Cry that came along, I will be waiting for reviews to come out for Far Cry 7 or whatever they call it. Yeah not sure there are 3 Ubisoft games coming in the next few months: AC Mirage, Avatar, and Star Wars Outlaws. Feeling pretty good about Mirage and Outlaws but the Avatar game is the question mark. It does look interesting but after this game I am skeptical, that isn't saying much as most people are skeptical of Ubisoft these days but up until just recently I was a loyal and usually satisfied customer of Ubisoft (sure they released the occasional bad game but most (to me) were great). This game broke me though, guess Ubisoft don't quite have the talent that they used to. Oh well we will see how Avatar, AC Mirage, and Star Wars Outlaws look. Great video BTW.
I played this game while on one of its many free trials, and only managed finished the prologue because the trial ran out. But while playing,I felt this strange loss of motivation to continue this game's story even with its engaging but repetitive gameplay and the wide variety of guns and vehicles,so much so that this free trial instead of convincing me of making the purchase,it instead felt like I had experienced all that this game had to offer and convinced me not to purchase it and experience the game in its fullest. And with this video,I finally found the reason for this strange lack of motivation I experienced during this game that I never felt even when playing the previous entries of this franchise-The terrible story. I found the characters to be every bit as unlikable as you described in this video, and the main motivation of Dani's reason to join the resistance is extremely weak for me that I just didn't care about any of it,and progressing through it instead of feeling like a hero of an action movie,it felt like a chore progressing through the story, listening to the insufferable dialogue of these characters that I was expected to love, but ended up hating. And upon finishing this video, I had a little revelation on my thoughts on these games as a whole-I don't mind the repetitive gameplay of claiming outposts, killing hordes and hordes of enemies or even the tower climbing the previous games had,if they had a good and at least engaging story with characters I would like to fight side by side with, and villians that I am motivated to defeat, then I'm motivated to finish it at its fullest. And Far Cry 6 got all the gameplay stuff right, but the story is terrible enough for me to just ditch it and never look back.
This exactly. I recruited the monteros and the legends of 67 with 26 hours in and i just deleted it yesterday because I can't bring myself to do the cringe maximas matanzas missions
These are games that do everything in their power to subvert any good quality they have in them. Like, you can tell someone set there and actually thought about what he was doing... And someone else just went "Nah, we need to spice it up!", and allot of points get trashed because of it. You can feel the intervention in the process, that's exactly why it feels like there's a genre of "Killed games"... You know there was a gem there, someone just made sure to trash it for whatever reason. That's exactly why there's allot of discussion about these games in particular... You can feel the effort and see how it gets ruined. Very good analysis video, I think you hit on points I haven't seen other channels bring up! It's good that you bring the moments of true passion and awe from those games to really show how far they messed it up!
@Crazy_Talk96 most games are boring because our attention spans are 10 seconds nowadays. Just focus on enjoying it and I'm sure you'll find fun. I like it more than 5 and it's close to 4 for me but my favorites are 2 and primal.
Zenny i just started watching your content today ... instantly hooked you absolutely need to keep making content your format epic im instantly hooked been binge watching just about everything your making keep up the great work and cant wait for more hope to see more today is 2/8/24
Well now that your starfield video is popping up and I got to see this one too... great videos mate! The production value of your videos is definitely improving as you go on but I hope people check out your other vids, I really love the passion of this one, you made great points!
I remember that i got Far Cry 6 for free as part of a deal (it was from buying a GPU or sumthn), played it for about an hour, and i wanted a refund despite getting it for free its so astronomically bad in its opening hours, that when the game gives you an enlarged map with all the things you could do, i didn't think about all the fun things im about to do but rather, the same agonising hour that i have to sit trhough, stretched for dozens of hours just like Ubisoft always do
Truly one of the best Far Cry 6 videos I've seen and will likely see. I agree with you 100%. I especially like the beginning of your video. I always thought I was alone with my opinion on this game. But you taught me better. You definitely deserve a lot more attention on UA-cam. Really amazing video.
I'm so happy! I have watched your vids and I am subbed, but UA-cam never once recommended it. But today IT DID!! Right on my front page! I love how you opened this video, the music and script was such a good hook! I don't even intend to play Far Cry 6 but this video on it kept my attention!
Dude, the way you pace your video is intense. I haven't played this game before so when you describe Anton's story near the middle of the video. Suddenly I'm floored. All of the cringe in the game melts away for just a little bit... And then the other shoe drops. I can't believe how close they came to an incredibly nuanced villain and then they just fumbled it. Damn
Far Cry 5 in my opinion was an awesome experience but it was the stepping stone for Ubisoft getting way too lazy for their own good. Imagine if we got to play as Diego, he felt more like the main character than Dany. Castillo's story is so interesting but Ubisoft just gave us a genric main character to play as. I hope with Far Cry 7, Ubi redeems themselves.
Farcry 5 lost me when they took away the machete for a baseball bat. Shit was cartoonish. No ones gonna walk about with a shovel with a smiley face over a Kukari or machete
Great breakdown of the game! Could you maybe do a breakdown/review of Far Cry 5? It's one of my favorites and there are some interesting threads and themes in the story and world building to talk about!
I live in a country whose own civil war ended relatively recently. This game could've been a good way of exploring how idealist revolutionaries end up becoming the same monster they fight against... And how the average population suffers the most, as both sides see it as a "with us or against us" kinda deal. But no. It had to be a cringe collage of all the annoying latino stereotypes I see in American media. Stereotypes that, mind you, feel somewhat insulting. Also, the amount of cringey spanglish used is just too unbearable.
Also Mad respect for putting Far Cry 2 in the meh section. Because while the graphics and details are neat, people tend to disregard how bland the characters are or how repetitive and boring the missions can be. Also the stealth doesn't work. I kill a man with a knife *a mile away* from an outpost, and magically everyone in the outpost is aware of my presence. Far Cry 2 is an overrated mess. I'm glad 3 fixed it.
I personally boycotted the game and refused to get purely for the fact the neglected to put in the Map Editor. Saw it free on Game Pass, decided to play and damn. Glad I didn't pay for this Also, great breakdown!
It was shocking but also well explained if you paid attention to what he had said before about what he had gone through and what the previous revolutionaries had done when his father was killed. And afterwards, his point was pretty much proven considering that all the revolutionaries except for Dani were happy Diego was gone.
To me the biggest problem was honestly just the enemy spawns- you be running in an area with a million soldiers charging down the road and suddenly you cant find anyone in an hour. Its also funny how the beginning of the game (the first 1h of the island looks drastically better than the rest of the game, because thats what was demo'd and showcased the most lol
Ain't it weird how it takes a few hours for the critical-thinking-player to realize the game is utter crap, and at the same time, you have only a 2-hour game-play limit to decide whether or not you want a refund for that game?
It's worse! the game isn't on steam, it's only on the epic store... so best of luck getting a refund from Epic games studio if you managed to realise early on that the game is aids!
Honestly, having Danny say that its fun to do all this shit could have been fucking awesome, if it was half an hour before you kill Anton and the whole game she is getting more and more unhinged At first trying to solve stuff non-violently, and the mid point straight violence was slightly encouraged by her and by the she is the one picking the most blood-thirsty and violent options to solve problems. The "It's fun" moment would come as a culmination of a character arc
@@sjfs231 More or less. The difference would be that Far Cry 3 is people pointing out you changed, in 6 it would be you changing all on your own. All the people you interact with are first timers, so they can stay with you long enough for it to hit them. At the end when everyone comes together its when they realize the monster they created
After 20 hrs, I’m having alot of fun. It does get boring at times and the weapons are a lil one the top but it’s a great environment for a far cry game. The horses are a good addition and I love traveling on them. There’s so much to do you just have to find it cuz it’s not spoon fed like before. Loot weapons and treasure all have to be found. It really makes you feel like you’re on an oppressed island. Martial law in effect in the main city. You can bribe guards for Intel and loot, the treasure hunts are way betterand in depth, only thing I dont like is seeing enemies thru walls cuz I play no hud. It doesnt ruin the game tho. Dani is a great protagonist who I give a shit about and he/she feels real. I picked male. Its a solid experience and I rate it number 3 under 4 and 3. It has all the elements of the others just finely tuned. Everything feels better. The missions feel like wildlands missions cuz the regions and the effects blowing up aa guns and shit provide. When you take over a checkpoint or something they actually liberate it with graffiti, troops and their colors. People are looking at this too literal and want to be offended. Right left arguments who tf cares focus on the game. Im focused on beating the game so I can explore this huge island in 4k in peace. Idk why so many people hate this game. Again its not perfect and I HATE seeing enemies thru walls cuz It ruins my immersion spawns are weird but not as bad as 5 at all. Gear looks ok but doesnt give me all I want but you can improvise. Story is inconsistent and weird at times but good for the most part. Ammo types are annoying but thats realistic. All in all solid game. Those complaining its too easy must play on story cuz action mode is going to take some times to complete certain missions.
“It’s fun” almost ruined it all for me. They revelation has always come much later for Far Cry protagonists, once they become an unstoppable tank that’s feared by the enemy.
Same vibes as Watch Dogs Legion btw. All victims of Ubisoft being Ubisoft. They always have the basis of a good script/idea but then they try mass market it so much that it ends up being so generic and bland where the games never really take a solid direction be it serious or playful coz they never stick to anything 😂. You hit the nail on the head with this in that quantity over quality segment.
Selling well to a specific group vs selling average to the masses is the difference between a beloved game and a game that makes big profit. It's heart breaking to see
@@Zenny-UA-cam So true 💯💯💯, which is a shame coz so much of their IP has a lot of potential, but I guess they chose the profits 😥😢, which totally makes sense from a bottom line perspective but very much a shame from a passion perspective and I dunno why so many companies don't realize this coz they are all chasing a cash cow but those games come once in a while and organically. Coz if you make a solid game be it a random multiplayer or a great storytelling experience or whatever genre, you just need to make a good game and let the chips fall where they may rather than prioritizing how you're gonna monetize the game before you've even finished it. The age old joke of games having loot boxes, micro transactions and all sorts of paid content ready to go on launch meanwhile the actual game has no actual completed substance.
FC5 would have been so much better if it weren’t the… I dunno, tenth far cry game that had come out. A lot of people were kinda sick of the series at that point, despite the positives of the game.
Honestly I really liked all the far cry games I never really got tired of the same style of gameplay but the ending to the most recent ones aren't that great.
First time I played it, I was totally out, on the verge of angry - that anger pointed directly at the character writing. Then I changed to a current gen console and played it again and the game felt immensly better - even the writing. Is the writing good? Well at times, its masterful. And at times, its so bad you cant tell if the creators are trolling you or if the took a dumb-pill that particular day. Its a weird beast - the ending is the darkest in the series by far - but contrasting that, you have the silliest sidecharacters of any Far Cry game. A very, very schizophrenic experience. A great in depth review man, my first time here. "The writers inability to read the room that theyve built." Spot on.
Ubisoft has been on a roll of making all their games have these super mature themes, but then delivering it like it's Fortnite. I honestly was expecting the game to at any point highlight how psychotic the Libertad was, but nope... It's just wholesome, quirky and queer young people killing the old bigots and such...
The game was shit. It was fun enough to play, but the writing was just godawful. There was definitely potential in Anton's relationship with his son and how Dani could've factored into that, but it just ... completely fell flat. In FC5, I actually felt true motivation to free Hope County. In this game, I wanted all these rebels to just burn. I gave no shits about any of them, except the animal characters. I also gave no shits about the villains, for that matter.
What's also missing in FC6 is the tension and depth of the protagonist and enemy. This is what made FC3 aweseome and a classic. Also that you as the player watch the protagonist go completely insane. The AI in FC6 is hilarious however, just sit down and watch the chaos unfold. I find the gameplay still enjoyable. But FC6 lacks in the context and depth of the story. It feels like they had too many characters which were difficult to develop as you say, a missed opportunity because the world is really beautiful and they nailed the Cuba vibe. Also really stupid there was a time gate in the Danny Trejo content... I miss the times where you just own a game.
I think that dani just snapped and that's why he finds it fun, but the other characters have no idea what they want to be and they are just goofy. I like it when characters are funny in desperate situations, but in this game never does that.
Once upon a time I played Far cry 6 and stopped playing because it didn't feel like far cry, and Aton was boring. This guy's storytelling was so good it almost made me pick it back up and try again and then him pointing out the flaws made me immediately loose that want 10/10 video love the story telling (this isn't sarcasm this is how I actually feel)
Have to say i don’t enjoyed the armory system i just want to lvl everything up on one skilltree and dont have to choose between too many things that i love
For the far cry die hard fans, it's a miss. But strangely for me it's a hit. I found this game so addictive I play it a lot. I like to find the boxes and upgrade my weapons. I like stealth and enjoy the open world to explore. The mode for easy is really good if you want to take your time and just explore around the map. You can delete the save and start a fresh game. That's just me, could be because I am autistic. But I do wonder if we will ever see fat cry 7?
Far Cry has a really good formula/central game loop. The gunplay is good, the environments look great and the hunting/fishing is surprisingly addictive. The stories and characters are the biggest "hit or miss" variable IMO and I don't really care about all that in the first place.
i disagree with the "its fun" thing. I think thats just brutally honest. the older fighter wanted to call it something more, like we all do when we wana justify a radical thing we do that we love doing but cant really explain why it feels so good, but at the end of the day ya survivng the evil, murdering, feeling alive. Its fun. its how normal people can turn into killers.
At the 35 min mark, I kind of fell like the short summary of this is, "If you had not tried to subvert our subverted expectation, it would have been good."
10:15 it makes sense, máximas matanzas are teenagers, they grew up under dictatorship, went to Marquesa's 'correction' school. They're reckless as teenagers AND they personally hate Marquesa so much. Idk why so many people seem to not understand it
Strongly disagree on the point about the weapon diversity. Optimal strategy to clean house at every outpost is stil the silenced sniper rifle/assault rifle with scope without fail.
I’ve always seen Anton Castillo as a villain who on one hand, pretty underrated, but at the same time not all that great when compared to some villains in previous far cry games (or any villain who’s been consistent throughout the entirety of a story that isn’t terrible). I do agree with nearly everything you’ve said about Anton Castillo, such a great villain in most of his run time yet happens to stumble from a few dumb decisions made by the writers. Though I’m not sure I agree with human experimenting on children and homeless for Viviro before the draft and Anton’s cure failing in him being a fundumental flaw that ruins Anton’s entire character. As you’ve said, all the terrible things Anton and his army has done in present Yara were a desperate attempt to spread up the process of curing his cancer. All for being able to remain alive long enough to see through his father’s vision of Yara being complete. I don’t see why it would be completely unnecessary for him to do some secret unethical experimentations for Viviro if Anton wanted to make sure Viviro continues to work as he intends it to. So that during the time Anton was cured, he could ensure he stays cured so to live long enough to see through his fathers vision. It would make sense that he was always a desperate man as he is in the game before the cure stopped working and before the draft, knowing Anton’s childhood backstory and ambition to continue his fathers vision after obtaining power to rule Yara. Those experimentations would really enforce that trait of desperation rather than ruin it. It would only make sense for Anton to be “a villain turned villain with a side dish of slave camp” if he has done anything evil for no reason when he was 13, before anything in the game during and after Anton’s fathers death has happened. Although I would say that if the experimentations were done on Yara prisoners instead of homeless and children, it would far better choice to make so Anton doesn’t come off as more radically evil than he actually is. Still I don’t think those experiments absolutely ruins his character. Your right about him killing Clara at the dinner table on the other hand was pretty stupid now that I think about. Your third recommended option for him to reconcile if he has been on the wrong and that the rebellion is good in my option isn’t any better than killing Clara, though the 2nd and 4th option could’ve been much more beneficial for Anton :V
Oh dear. So, I completely missed the entire far cry 6 thing, cause they aren't my kinda game. But this.. It's basically the summer of love 2020 with all the self defeating shit the protestors did to themselves. Is it possible that they wanted to put up a mirror to both sides? Yeah, sorry, I don't really want to get political, but your explanation of what they do, how they act and their convictions are very similar in my eyes. It was the first thing that popped to mind. Including showing themselves worse than the people they fight against, having a very short fuse. Celebrating the resistance, rather than taking it serious. Even the different groups I can see back in the groups that were voicing similar discontent.
"it's fun".... as someone who lives in a third world country and have saw the reality of guerrillas and the internal conflict I can't believe the tone deaf of Ubisoft
Fun fact. In High school I had Spanish teacher (the language), whose family immigrated from some South American country. One day, in a hushed tone, he told us that, in his country of origin, "beacho" was a slang word for... an organ males have to make more humans. For the first time in years Ubisoft put a smile on my face.
Far Cry is like that smart kid who is just really lazy. Here we have a great concept of being a one man army in a really dangerous environment with animals and people who want to murder you. You can tackle missions with stealth or go guns blazing. And yet for some reason, Far Cry is still very generic
Go play FC1 and FC2. Those games' characters hate you! Hell, I DARE you to try the hardest difficulty on both of them. Then you'll see how much of a walk on the beach FC3 and the subsequent games are.
Honestly Farcry 5 actually had the effort to make the story still serious, the game literally ends with a nuke being launched and everything just ending In a depressing state and the first time ever In a Farcry game you lost everything... Then Farcry 6 comes along and Is like: *Killing Is fun Rawr XD*
I can get why it might be upsetting for you but have you read anything about Americas involvement with central and South American countries? Banana wars? Iran Contra? Might be worth reading some history to better understand where the game coming from
I honestly actually like Far Cry 6. I don't care how other people see how bad it is, I enjoy it thoroughly. I really love experimenting with different builds and doing all the bonus stuff when taking outposts to get more resources. The game just generally rewards you for actually thinking and taking your time. Plus I just also like the crouch slide. It feels so nice to just slide down a huge hill. I could say more but I don't want to write an entire goddamn essay. This is just my opinion so no one has to agree with it.
I thought Far Cry 5 was pretty mid and I played a couple hundred hours of it anyway. The gunplay is good and I like hunting/fishing and whatnot... Lmao
19:20 as much as I have problems with this story, the bit where she shoots the PR rep makes sense, the shooter was projecting her regret and self hate how she invalidated her boyfriend’s gender earlier before he abandoned them, while also being a gun toting brat that is not thinking about the consequences of her actions immediately shooting someone she sees as a root of Yara’s injustice. Her pulling the trigger getting her and Dani screwed from her own impulsiveness was probably the one thing in their storyline that was properly built up/escalated.
This is a super fascinating perspective, my annoyance was simply with how detrimental it was to thier mission, but a character having plot driven impulsiveness is honestly really cool and something I over looked This was a fun read, cheers!
Primal has amazing gameplay but I'm just not into the ooga booga story, plus the games map was a MASSIVE asset flip of far cry 4, with the entire maps landscape being ripped from far cry 4 with just different trees and environmental details
say mate would you kindly also list all of the songs you used on this video they just HIT very hard everytime you used them oh so well in every bit of the video love your work ever since i found it your essays are a joy and your animations are really cool keep at it
You can stand by that and no one will deny that. Those games shouldn't exist.
What we’re your problems with five it’s my favorite because how goofy the side characters are and the better graphics
@@Yeawedodat happy too!
1. No protagonist
You are a nameless no one who holds no real gravity in the plot which is a big change, as the 2 far cry games that came before had your character develope with the villian
2. Setting
The idea is BRILLIANT! however I find the excuse for this game not having the government step in when a religious group has taken over an entire valley is dumb. We have seen American religious groups buy up islands and manipulate people to join them and then be monsters. Would of worked better.
3. Joseph seed
Super cool villian, I cannot lie, but not very deep compared to the other villians roster.
4. Ending
The canonical ending has the insane villian be right which is an insult to everyone who plays the game.
You might say the series is a farcry from what it once was.
I see what you did there

So true
Aaayyyyy 👈👈
NOOO 😂
I found it interesting that when castillo tries to force Dani to join his army, she is already wearing the uniform (even though it was just intended as a disguise). One of those symbolic things begging for better subtext or narrative weight that sadly doesn't seem to really exist
Holy shit! That is such a cool observation wtf
The longer it went on the more it ended up a chore
Perhaps Danny/Dani is harboring Diego and Castillo knows it. That gives the player a reason to stay hidden and use the stealth that Far Cry is kinda known for. And it also establishes a very specific relationship between the player character and the antagonist like other Far Cry games have done (Vaas and Jason's mutual obsession with each other, Pagan's unrequited fatherly feelings Ajay, Joseph's desire to "save" the deputy in the only way he knows how, even the Jackal grows to respect the merc you choose to play as)
That's something I personally felt was really missing from 6.
Have you also noticed that the last Far Cry games had stupid endings?
I found myself rooting for Anton the longer I played the game. They made the protagonists so unbearable that I found myself skipping all the cut scenes
A game like far cry making the player feel the need to skip cutscenes is so tragic. This game man... yikes
Thank you Zenny for being able to put my fever dream into words. I can’t remember a single thing after playing this game.
This game was a wild ride... sadly not I'm a good way

If you've played any Farcry installment from 3 onwards, you have played this game.
Fuck me, bore off mate🙄🤣🤣
I literally beat this game 2 months ago and the only thing I remember from the whole game is the dog and el Tigre.
The best way ive been able to describe my feelings on FC6, from the gameplay to story and everything in between, is that it feels like a Just Cause game without all of the fun over the top parts. And the parts where it does try to do that it gives us the most bargain bin version of it.
nah just cause games are peak they are actually games
To quote Giancarlo Esposito (Gus Fring) "I never make the same mistake twice".
Imma do it again
the fact he felt so under used in this actually hurt me a lot he's so good at being the villain
The fact this game become so unhinge to the point we had a dlc with stranger things and the other side says alot
The collabs felt so jarring when compared to the solid dlc about the villians
To be fair... on the dictator point. The Phillippines IRL did the same thing. Yeah it was stupid, but it's not like it's never happened. Anyways great video!
Good to see another Aussie making high quality content. Makes me wanna get off my ass and reboot my own channel already. It's honestly criminal how few views this has despite the effort you've put in. You've earned a new sub, my dude.
Cheers mate, I restarted in 2018 to doing what I am now, sometimes just starting fresh is the key
Agree, and still I enjoyed the game for what it was, but yeah, not one thing you said would I say isn't true. Bravo.

Just found this UA-cam channel and I’m loving it. Keep up the good work man.
Glad you are enjoying it!
A fun drinking game: Drink every time you hear the word "guerilla" used. You'll have more fun playing it that way at least.
It kills me to see games and characters with so much potential get fumbled so bad. It's a tragedy
This exactly. I recruited the monteros and the legends of 67 with 26 hours in and i just deleted it yesterday because I can't bring myself to do the cringe maximas matanzas missions

The new avatar game is meant to be the next big spin on the farcry formula. And with the world it's set in we may get a serious tone in the end

Awesome as always!

Please my man. Every comment helps the all mighty algorithm!
I loved Far Cry 5. It is very silly. It is also the only Far Cry game that I have played and I think this makes a big difference.
The game gets a ton of credit for its mechanics and graphical details for its time. But letting everything else slide just ain't right

Lets go another banger, keep up the good work man!
I personally boycotted the game and refused to get purely for the fact the neglected to put in the Map Editor.
Saw it free on Game Pass, decided to play and damn.
Glad I didn't pay for this
Also, great breakdown!
“It’s fun”
*cue montage*
This is wonderful. Instant sub and bell! This is such high quality content
I'm so glad you liked that montage! While editing I was so worried it was a tad indulgent. But I feel like it gets the point across nicely
I actually didn't fuckin know Anton just straight up kills Diego
Holy shit
If they'd just worked on Him
I don't even know what to say
Yep. Was a wild ride
It was shocking but also well explained if you paid attention to what he had said before about what he had gone through and what the previous revolutionaries had done when his father was killed. And afterwards, his point was pretty much proven considering that all the revolutionaries except for Dani were happy Diego was gone.
How is your channel still this small? Keep up the great work man!
I'll get there one day mate
It was an alright game not groundbreaking but not necessarily bad
To me the biggest problem was honestly just the enemy spawns- you be running in an area with a million soldiers charging down the road and suddenly you cant find anyone in an hour.
Its also funny how the beginning of the game (the first 1h of the island looks drastically better than the rest of the game, because thats what was demo'd and showcased the most lol
"Why do i write sentences so f***ing long!"
I felt that my dude. Lmao
Great video. The last Far Cry I played was 3, never finished it. Now that I think about it I never finished any Far Cry game. Ooops. 🧡💛🧡
Ain’t no party like a Farcry rebel party cuz a Farcry rebel party has everyone diiiiiiiiie
Honestly, having Danny say that its fun to do all this shit could have been fucking awesome, if it was half an hour before you kill Anton and the whole game she is getting more and more unhinged
At first trying to solve stuff non-violently, and the mid point straight violence was slightly encouraged by her and by the she is the one picking the most blood-thirsty and violent options to solve problems.
The "It's fun" moment would come as a culmination of a character arc
That would of been so so cool
that's just far cry 3
@@sjfs231 More or less. The difference would be that Far Cry 3 is people pointing out you changed, in 6 it would be you changing all on your own. All the people you interact with are first timers, so they can stay with you long enough for it to hit them. At the end when everyone comes together its when they realize the monster they created
@@glockmat I don't think I trust the writers that claimed Joseph Seed was actually the good guy to do that correctly.
@@sjfs231 Im yet to see this confirmed by the wroters, although, Ive seen the fan theories
Oh thank god just when I was desperate for something nice to watch!
Zenny provides in times of need!
FC5 is a much better game than this woke cringe garbage
5 is the best Far Cry 🤷♂️
It’s been a high potential low effort company lately
@@cdothuncho7324 🎯💯
Another Far Cry game where the secret ending is the best ending.
Though unlike Far Cry 4, I don't actively want to switch teams.
Far cry 5 was good though...
Great joke
FC5 would have been so much better if it weren’t the… I dunno, tenth far cry game that had come out. A lot of people were kinda sick of the series at that point, despite the positives of the game.
@@JohnDoe-uf3lj ok??? That was my first far cry and i loved it.
"The writers inability to read the room that theyve built." Spot on.
damnnn another banger😱😱, I was wondering what happened to Farcry 6
Yeah far cry 6 seems to pop onto the market and then vanish out of thin air
@@Zenny-UA-cam yee i saw the trailers then it was just beamed out of my head 🤣
I learned after farcry 5 that I'm not buying another farcry game. It's sad to say because I used to love these games
This was fucking awesome! I thought this guy would have a couple 100'000 subs but no, 3K?!?! Leaving this comment for bragging rights when he blows up
We shall get there some day!!!
I like it when characters are funny in desperate situations, but in this game never does that.
u should totally do a video about the villain DLCs for Far Cry 6
I hint at it at the end of the video. I'm tempted. Gonna wait for all the dlc to be out and if it's all really good I'll 100% make the video
The fact they wasted Gus. That was a BIG L
This has to be one of the best videos about Far Cry 6
Once upon a time I played Far cry 6 and stopped playing because it didn't feel like far cry, and Aton was boring. This guy's storytelling was so good it almost made me pick it back up and try again and then him pointing out the flaws made me immediately loose that want
10/10 video love the story telling (this isn't sarcasm this is how I actually feel)
Well put together video. Thank you!
you have the power to narrate trash historys like it was a piece of art
It's crazy that I'm seeing so many lovely comments on my older videos now! Thank you!
Far cry 6 is my favourite far cry game it has a special place in my heart and will never be replaced
I play far cry primal, sure it's not like the other but I genuinely enjoy the game play. I understand the rating placing in dog water though.
There was no climax feeling when killing the boss fights it was just like meh whatever on to the next we didn’t get to know the characters that much
"it's fun".... as someone who lives in a third world country and have saw the reality of guerrillas and the internal conflict I can't believe the tone deaf of Ubisoft
top tier content, far cry 6 wasn’t as good as 5 imo but it was still dumb fun. i liked the weapon selection
I feel like if I turn my brain off and focus on the shooting then this game is a bundle of fun... but if I look at the story.. yikes
OI, Primal is not a miss it is a fantastic game and bare minimum deserves to be in the meh category
Yeah you're probably right
I don't mind the ending, but it basically ends with the insane Christian murder cult being right... and that's kinda just weird
They are so unbelievably racist to Americans in that game that i just stopped playing it
I can get why it might be upsetting for you but have you read anything about Americas involvement with central and South American countries? Banana wars? Iran Contra? Might be worth reading some history to better understand where the game coming from
@@wisdomcoffee true I'm a history nut but I think it was a mixture of the bad game play in the heat of the moment from the game making me mad
Well! You get a taste of your own medicine! You Americans have been racist to everyone else! Well deserved!
This is a super fascinating perspective, my annoyance was simply with how detrimental it was to thier mission, but a character having plot driven impulsiveness is honestly really cool and something I over looked
This was a fun read, cheers!
