Voce meravigliosa, tecnica perfetta, timbro eccelso, legato e frasegiato nobile.
I did not like Gobbi's voice, but he was a great actor on opera stage which was also very important. Gobbi new how to modulate his not very big rather voice to fit it into any performed roles.
Powerful, yet delicate, strong yet enticing, grave yet light, you can hear all this in the many operas he sang - there is not a single moment in his singing that will not entice and hold you captive to his voice. What a way to bring people to the appreciation of what a beautiful baritone voice is!
I agree with everything you say. Possibly my favourite baritone of all and when I was very young it was this recording that first brought my attention to this marvellous singer who I have admired ever since.
Giuseppe Taddei to me, was the greatest Amonasro in Aida. Listen to him in a famous 1951 live performance from Mexico with Callas, del Monaco, Oralia Dominguez (Greatest Amneris) under Oliviero de Fabritiis.
I've said it many times in the past. Taddei's star shone from the beginning when he sang the role of Fleville in the Gigli, Caniglia, Bechi recording of Andrea Chenier. It never wavered or flickered throughout his long and illustrious career.

There used to be a saying in Italy: “We gave the rest of the world Tito Gobbi, but we kept Giuseppe Taddei for ourselves."
I did not like Gobbi's voice, but he was a great actor on opera stage which was also very important. Gobbi new how to modulate his not very big rather voice to fit it into any performed roles.
Voix sublime!
Che intensità, e nobiltà espressiva !

I don't know if a singer can get any better.
I seriously doubt that we could ever hear a finer baritone voice - incomparable IMO
Il grande Kostas Paskalis
Leonard Warren .....
@bodiloto's hater Well...
@@raulfranco9206 Ouch.
Nope !!!!!
Very good, but you should listen to Piero Cappuccilli sing this for Abbado. That is the best version!
No, not at all. Cappuccilli sounds very flat there.
No. It's good but Taddei is better. But this recording is let down by Nilsson. Verrett on the Abbado is better.
leider nur einmal als simone gehört
