I think you have given a perfect explanation of why Virgin River has such an enormous fan base Martin. With Covid, the world in an a difficult place with new and old diseases erupting, a global food and oil crisis, fires all over due to climate change, we need to escape to such a beautiful place. I’m a new viewer and now a super fan. This is the best Netflix series I’ve seen in a long long time. Great cast, great story, great scenery, great editing. Ended up binge watching all 4 seasons because I was so drawn in. Mel and Jack are just the best. Their characters and chemistry kept me wanting more. Beautiful people inside and out. I can see why it’s a very popular show even though it gets pretty predictable. Just a feel good show, with beautiful scenery, likable characters/actors. The way the world is today, seeing a place like virgin river just a small town where everyone knows each other and looks out for each other can be good to see.

I think not only is it a feel good show but also shows real aspects of life. It gives you an escape in a world of uncertainty. And that is why an entire season gets binged in one day. The premiere was on my birthday and I still did. I hope this show continues on like (when calls the heart) already on the 10th season. I've barely watched one or two epis5. Virgin river grabs you in and doesn't let go. The Simpsons have been on 30yrs. Let virgin river be as infectious as that to people 😅

Like Martin’s character but Mel’s is at times over emotional and annoying. I found myself speeding up her parts where she won’t let go of Martin until he verbalizes everything.
Popular because it’s not violent, not crude and casting is good.

The Woman who reads the book SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE Alexandra Breckinridge! So it is absolutely Delightful to have this show with me whenever I want, narrated by someone who sounds like the show-Mel. The show is VERY close to the book. I actually like the slight differences because it keeps my mind seeing how differently the show scenes could have gone. 10 thumbs Up!

He doesn't use his accent in American shows. He has a tutor who helps him speak without accent. He has spoken of this in interviews. It will slip out in cooking shows but he tries to not slip.

I really like a lot about this show. One thing that SHOULD be changed? Mel's constant whiney "oh Jack what's wrong? I'm so worried about you!" Scenes. There are FAR too many of those. For me, that acting is nauseating. I've gotten to the point where I will fast forward thru those scenes. No other complaints about the show. And I do like it when Mel finally cheers up for like .... 2 seconds....

me too!! I am watching this season and also fast forward through Mel asking Jack over and over"how are you feeling?" its making me like Mel less as I am annoyed by her....Sorry :(
