Lauren Fix is brilliant! I have been against EV's since the government first started pushing them. Why? Because whenever the government gets involved in something that is not based in practical, applicable, useful technology or fact, it screws it up. Every. Single. Time.
The claim of EV's being cleaner is absolute rubbish! The manufacturing of EV's is not environmentally clean and where do you think the power to charge them comes from?! It is absolutely idiotic to force EV's on a public when there is ZERO serious effort to fortify the electrical grid that they depend on! It is the very definition of stupid! This country runs on a free market system. The public will buy a product that is better. They cannot be forced to buy what is found in actual use to be inferior to what they already have! EV's crap out in the cold, they crap out in the heat!

One could argue that EVs aren't even electric anyway and that the whole movement is a hoax promoted by those who know better about energy and the environment so let's stop all of the nonsense. Afterall, ICE cars have batteries so maybe they are as much electric as EVs and who cares if EVs happen to have bigger batteries, so what. Don't let the politicians tell you otherwise. They are a bunch of old foggies anyway. Right?

    • @Alopen-xb1rb

Except there is no EV mandate and no one is forcing you to buy EVs. But reality check I have an EV and only a complete moron would switch back.
The news media is just running away with the story and leaving out lots of details. If can level 2 charge over night it makes complete sense. If you cannot, stick with ICE or hybrid. It’s not rocket science.
Non-Tesla EVs are struggling with charging on road trip. Thats because companies like Electrify America make chargers and never maintain them to actually charge at advertised rates. Teslas road trip perfectly fine.
Point is 50% are not going back. That was one survey that was taken a while ago with a small sample size and is being reported ad nauseam ever since.

Diesel electric hybrid sounds great. The railroad industry has used that combo for decades successfully. When adding an energy storage device why not use a capacitor instead of a battery because the charge / discharge cycle is short term thus eliminating the hazard of thermal runaways and fires that are hard to extinguish along with all the toxic materials used to build a battery. Let's go green "smartly".

Dealerships can goto hell. I'll be happy if they go away. American brands have historically been lazy to adapt to the world around them. It's not a good old boy network anymore. Domestic built brands have to step up and fend off China. Toyota, Honda will obviously do well but the American big 2. (Chrysler is dead) will have to build vehicles in AMERICA than Americans can afford and not just focus on $80k - $100k trucks.

No. EVs are NOT more expensive than ICE cars. Tesla Model 3’s and Y’s sell from the high 30’s to the high 40’s. The electric Equinox starts at just over 40k. The new Bolt is going to sell for about 30K. Also the idea that we get ALL of our electric from just coal and natgas. Ridiculous. There is hydro power and renewables which are growing. Please stop this dopey FUD. It’s disingenuous. Yes, I love ICE cars but I’m also a huge fan of EVs as well. While they may not be 50% of the market by ‘30, I’d be willing to bet they’ll be at 25% or more.

In the future, they’re not even going to be using humans to build cars so if people are smart, they will get into the field of fixing electric cars making electric car parts fixing robots that work in these factories. Where the money will be in automotive care. Right now, very few mechanics know how to fix an electric car and very few places are making parts for electronic cars. Started adapting now. GM Ford Chrysler all make crap cars. Let them go out of business and open up factories that make electric car parts and also train mechanics to fix electronic cars.

EVs have more torque and at lower revs than ICE vehicles, it's been very easy to wear the rubber off the tires from tromping it to get off the line. It's hella fun but hard on the tires. If you drive less enthusiastically, your tires will last more or less like an ICE vehicle. Bottom line - it's an exaggeration. Just like how we're told ALL of the electricity is generated from Coal and Gas. (And even if it were, using fossil fuel to generate electricity for EVs is more efficient than burning it in individual vehicles.)
