now that Ive watched the whole thing I gotta say this was one of the best canoe adventure videos Ive ever seen. The end nearly brought a tear to my eye. The summer cannot come fast enough to get out there and do these things again.
Much respect. You’re tough, consistently positive by continuing to see the beauty in spite of adversity, and one hell of a cinematographer. Bravo zulu to you, sir.
At the end, when you say that the challenges made it a trip that you'll remember the rest of your life, it all made sense...it was all worth it. Beautiful filmmaking. What a journey. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to share it. I am lifted. ❤
What an epic adventure! Amazing footage; loved the cliffs (with pictographs), drone shots, and most importantly great job with the editing and score. Keep doing what you're doing! A+
From someone who has been through the slash and bash, the slogs, bogs and bugs, EVERY step is worth it! I have been to Wabakimi 15 seasons and still on my bucket list is Cliff Lake area…good job! TY!
Kevin, I really appreciate your videos! You capture such beautiful scenery, and you are always so authentic and laid back. Watching your videos makes me feel so relaxed and they allow me to travel vicariously through them. Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into making them!
Yay!!! I am so looking forward to this! My Sunday treat. I'm going to settle down with some drinks and snacks and be transported into this beautiful, magical place :)
I am certainly glad to see your new upload, glad you are still at it. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us Kevin. The raw beauty of the land you traversed is well received as your videos improve each time. I think we all understand that creating a film like this is challenging, so thank you. Keep it up and subs will come!
thank you for another exquisite video of an epic adventure through stunning lands. Beautifully put together with just the right amount of silence, nature sounds, comments and soothing music. Absolutely gorgeous. You really love nature and the quiet and solitude and you seem to be the "wildlife whisperer". I loved the woodland caribou especially. Can't wait for more to come. Many blessings!
Thanks for this video! My parents briefly met you as they were leaving Wabakimi and you were going in. Your video allowed me to experience the landscape they visited! Loved the woodland caribou sighting -- they were a big part of the draw of Wabakimi for my family ever since we read Farley Mowatt's People of the Dear together while on a camping trip many years ago, when I was a tween.
Hi Laura! Yes I remember chatting with your parents before I set off. So glad to hear that you enjoyed the video and that it brought back memories of your camping trips with them :)
Thank you for your very kind words. I’m not trying to make a career out of this. I simply love going on canoe trips and I also really enjoy capturing them. Cheers!
Your ability to keep your emotions in control while being covered in bugs, with swollen hands due to insect bites and extreme exhaustion is impressive. I must admit it was refreshing to see you express your shear exhaustion on day 10. I think we all felt it as well… I’m a 70yo man who has been on many adventures and have a few left in me, but I truly enjoy your documentary adventures. Be Safe!
Dear Kevin, I really enjoy your videos. I truly wish I could experience what you do-immersing myself in nature and escaping the modern world. Unfortunately, I am a person with a disability, unable to use both of my legs, and I live in a developing country (Vietnam). This means I can only admire the majestic beauty of nature through the films you create. Please continue making more beautiful videos like these so that I can experience them vicariously through you. Thank you so much!
Another beautiful video, Kevin! My wife Deb and I always enjoy your videos. Stunning 2160p 4K on our 55" 4K TV. Thank you for sharing and taking us along. Cheers!
Gotta say Kevin, you produce some of thee best canoeing videos. While oher youtubers are producing over theatricalized canoeing adventures full of music, you are keeping it raw and natural. There is nothing worse than watching these other adventures having to listen to continuous music in the background and sometimes in the foreground instead of the real noises of nature. Keep up the great work!
Kevin!!! So great to see a new video !! I LOVE these long ones ! I feel so close to nature watching your videos as you know !! Thank you for taking me along on your journey ! Watching on a 75" 4K TV is like I'm there !
@kevinthewild you are so blessed to be able to do this ! The feeling I get watching you, I just TOTALLY go right back to my interior Algonquin trips. I smell the smells , feel the breeze , it just gets all my senses going. I am so thankful for your content. You have no idea how good this is for my soul buddy! I hope to see many many more of your trips. This one was like watching a long movie , more plz lol 😂
Amazing trip Kevin, thank you for the voyage back to my youth. And even through all the strain of fighting natures little biting critters you showed us a part of Canada few see. By the way your photography is really improving with every one of your trips. Fantastic job Kevin and thanks again for the wilderness vision.
Nicely done Kevin. You're best film yet. Thanks for sharing the experience. Keep it up - we're all enjoying it. Best wishes for the next paddling season.
As always great video! I once held a pike like that and it almost bit my face. Ive heard horror stories. Best way I've found is the finger under the jaw bone. Not touching the gills. Finger in and slide it towards the front. Your other hand supporting the fishes belly. Safe for you and safe for the pike. I really enjoy watching your videos and wish you all the best on your next adventure.
Thanks for the advice! As you could see I had no idea how to properly hold it. I initially tried yo hold it by the gills but my finger went in too deep and got poked by what felt like its teeth. After that I decided to hold it up like I did, but I was very concerned that it would flick as I had no grip on it at all. That story about someone getting bit on the face sounds pretty horrifying.
Omg I enjoyed every minute of your adventure. What an incredible journey to have achieved well done you are incredibly inspiring and to end with the perfect camp, perfect night and perfect morning. Just wonderful 😊
What a trip!! Glad I was there the week after you, the bugs died down a wee bit. Seeing you make it through to cliff lakes makes me think about my decision if I should have just went for it instead of circling back on the Berg 😅... At least I will know for next time when I go that way. Looks like the Esquif boat was pretty rugged, you could just drag it up the portages with a rope from cliff lake 😱. I just picked one up and looking forward to bringing it out next season for its maiden voyage
The Esquif will definitely take a beating. But plan to be able to cover less distance on flat water per day as compared to your solo boat. It will feel quite a bit slower. Looking forward to seeing what you get up to next year!

I am originally from Wawa, family said a lot of rain, too, contributed to the bugs. You're so lucky to have kept infection down from your bites. I've seen it happen many times to friends growing up.
Thoroughly enjoyed watching your Wabakimi trip this morning, my friend. What an adventure. Bet it really was rewarding to know you traveled across the whole park. Certainly one you'll never forget. Awesome job documenting it! Mark
Yes brother I've been waiting!! So glad to see a new video as I've mentioned before I camp vicariously thru you/your videos so I was stoked to see you posted this. This is literally the highlight of my day. Merry Christmas Kev!
My wife and I are so excited about this new adventure. She was relieved that you are doing well. She has been checking regularly to see if you had posted a new video. I kept reassuring her that you are well and just busy. Thank you for such amazing videos that bring us along for the ride.
Yes you are right Joseph, I’m doing well - I’ve just been busy. I’ll have a few more trip videos from this past season to share. Hope you enjoy the video!
❤❤..in this video.. you traveled through my late mother trapping ground..my mother grew up in white clay..its a gorgeous place..I hope you enjoyed your time there...
First time watching one of your videos and I really enjoyed it. You struck a great balance with commentary in terms of not too much but just enough. The music additions were also really well done, they weren't done at times when it interrupted natural sounds and the music you picked was really well suited. I appreciated you going through your gear as well, I will be watching more of your videos.
What a dream to visit Wabakimi but then to do an epic 250km trip across it, soaking in its incredible beauty! We really hope to make it there 1 day but felt privileged to be able to join you on your trip. Thanks so much for putting together this amazing production :D

Thanks so much for taking me on your adventure. Unfortunately we dont have untouched nature like that anymore here in Germany. What a crazy portage at 2:04:28 - did you expect it to be THAT steep after reading the description, having to use a rope to pull up your canoe? 🤣

This was very enjoyable. It’s the 5th video of yours that I’ve watched. I’m going to go watch the rest of them now. I’m am subscribed with the 🔔 and I’ve given all your videos a 👍🏻so far. I’ve often wondered why nobody has tried using a pair of small like bear paw snowshoes when portaging a bog or swampy area. • I live on a couch in central North Carolina and even I know that Bruce Hyer is a legend in Wabakimi 😂😊
Keep up the good work! Your videos just keep getting better and better, so kudos to you. I did my first Wabakimi trip this year, and it was nice to see where my route (Nemo River) crossed over with yours.
@@kevinthewild1 I was in the park June 27th to July 7th. Took the 24h train in from Toronto (picked up a canoe in Armstrong from Wabakimi Outfitters) and paddled out from Little Caribbou. Was a chilly and slightly rainy trip but loved (almost) every minute of it.
@@patrickwnek9961 very cool. I was debating whether or not to take the train from Toronto. But the hassle of portaging my canoe and gear into Union Station led me to drive instead lol.
Kevin, another great trip & another excellent video! The swollen bug bites looked nasty! Is it time to go see your local pharmacist for some remedies like simple antihistamine cream and / or tablets to reduce the annoyance, swelling, itching, and pain (to take on the trips)? 😀
Thanks Brian. I did take have Benadryl with me - but I only took it once (after the first close-up of my bites). I noticed a small improvement the next morning. I certainly would have taken more if my reactions became more severe. Cheers!

Thanks Jeff! Yes travelling through a bog is hard work but it sure is beautiful.
You’re a master at cinematography and editing. Have to say!
Not sure what you do for a living but it should be cinematography and editing. But I’m guessing either sales or you own your own business.
I watch a ton of this type of content. Never seen anything better as far as filming and editing and continuity.

I’ve often wondered why nobody has tried using a pair of small like bear paw snowshoes when portaging a bog or swampy area.
• I live on a couch in central North Carolina and even I know that Bruce Hyer is a legend in Wabakimi 😂😊
Thank you so much Alan! Yes Bruce is an incredible man. It was a pleasure to spend some time with him at the lodge.
Keep up the good work! Your videos just keep getting better and better, so kudos to you. I did my first Wabakimi trip this year, and it was nice to see where my route (Nemo River) crossed over with yours.
Thanks Patrick! Very cool. What time did you go?
Cheers!
Another great video Kevin thanks for sharing what an amazing trip.
Thanks Ian!
Sick intro brother!
I appreciate it brother 🍻
@@kevinthewild1 Wabakimi / Boreal Magic... absolutely amazing
