They make way too much money off the cost of flights and all the extra fees and taxes to be treated unfairly like this take your money elsewhere.

A few years back the CBSA at security while entering the airport at Pearson, made me open my medicine pouch. I didn’t want to. It felt so wrong to me. I felt so violated.
Also, in my opinion, Our National Chief should have its own Security detail especially for issues just like this.

Seems the only person who didn't treat the headdress with care and reverence is the National Chief. Somehow her lack of care to ensure the item's well-being and treatment eluded HER. Now in a glaring attempt to offload personal responsibility, she's blaming the airline (a wealthy airline).

The issues are rooted in e and o insurance that protects organizations like these from liability.

Do you know where they put the bodies of the soldiers that DIED for this Country?! IN THE CARGO HOLD. Why should a piece of headwear be treated with more respect?! This World is upside down.

Well I would have told them "You can have my headdress after you've pried it from my cold dead hands".

What was the reason the on-board staff gave for taking the item?

Too large to stow in the cabin. Makes perfect sense. Why should she have special treatment.

I guarantee it was not taken because it was the chiefs headdress. It was obviously to large to stow in the cabin. Get off your preverbal high horse there chief! They talk about being under the thumb or heel of the monarchy for 300 years then they act like they are Kings and Queens themselves. Is anyone else getting tired of this?

It's not your baby, and that is not a carry-on. That is a medium-sized piece of luggage. Someone get the chief a good suitcase. Holy drama queen.
It wasn't the item itself. It was the size of the item. Common knowledge when flying. You better buy another seat for your baby.

This is a FLIGHT SAFETY issue that has nothing to do with first people.

Si they’re basically telling us our special regalia is trash (trash bags?!! Despicable!).
Nice 😮 this is a human rights issue. Air Canada should formally apologize to you. We’ve been through enough suffering - now we can’t even travel with our cultural dress?! Shameful 😢

Oh come on! You people and your perpetual victimhood. Get a proper case for your item and check it. The indigenous will never be satisfied and tax paying Canadians are tired of financing you lot and listening to the never ending complaints.

      You obviously are not Indigenous.
This headdress is very sacred and personal.
There is absolutely no way that we can explain how this is to non indigenous people’s.
You would never understand because of your close mindedness and also your ignorance.
But, if you would like to understand and truly listen by opening your ears and mind. You may come to understand at some point during your lifetime.
This regalia is very sacred and very important.
Please do not cast hate or make disrespectful remarks.

@@TrevorChenier Stop speaking English then if you are so oppressed by not paying any taxes and having more rights than anyone else. Stop acting like royalty I thought it was oppressive. Btw I'm metis before you start your racism. Anyone born here is now indigenous sorry to say the government replaced you with 10 million new Indians.
