For a non-actor, he was incredibly good at the acting side of it. Terrific performance skills and great charisma.
I think he was marked highly because it was a very good overall performance. He looked very comfortable and made it look easier than it probably was. He also has musicality and he acted the part well.
Listen, to anyone who says this wasn't 10 worthy. I give you a quote from Len from 2014, 'Sometimes a 10 doesn't mean perfection, sometimes it's just better than a 9' and trust me this was better than a 9. His showmanship shone through the whole dance, and to keep that fleckerl going the way he did is outstanding. For me it was perfect
Looks like Danny's fans are on the war path ( nothing against Danny but getting tired of the "judges favourites" comments)
Scary isn't it? Reminds of the Jay army last year, people get a bit carried away :p
Danny was a trained dance, Ore complete novice
I absolutely loved it! I thought it was a wonderful, classy routine.
The technical aspects are only part of it. Theatrically, it was a wonderful performance. Well deserved, he's a good showman
Thought this and Danny's (obviously helped by the fact his was a charleston) were the only two dances that managed to work the backing dancers into the routine without the celebrity becoming lost. So on that note I am glad and think it's pretty apt that Danny and Ore were top two last night. Very stylish AS inspired Viennese Waltz wasn't sure it was going to work with That's Life but I thought it did work really well. I can't fault Ore's commitment to performing he's a proper good showman. Wish he could have spotted his turn properly (his lack of previous dance training showed there) in the fleckerl though as his footwork in that showed great control and was very clean. He led Jo very well for the most part and kept his frame decently. I would say 8/9 but with the Blackpool-itus I would give the routine a 10 lol.
Well I loved it and loved how it was not just a dance but a scene too. Fair enough it's not his best dance but I still thought it was amazing 😀😀 xx
Gorgeous choreography from Jo, making the most of rather a bullish song for a Viennese Waltz. Loved it! Ore really draws the eye. I know there are more technically accurate dancers this year, but Ore has a watchability and performance level they lack.
I guess everyone decides according to taste. For me Ore's charisma and Jo's choreography are more interesting than some of the technically perfect contestants. You never know what you'll get. Ginger pubes, a bicycle, or Gene Kelly rolled into Frank Sinatra 😎
Love them!
Ore was one of my favourites
Ore gets so much hate! This dance was great definitely 10 worthy! And the Judges are the experts how do u know that it's not 10 Worthy!
Oh idk maybe because the judges ADMITTED that his head wasn't correct AND that he lost balance in the fleckle AND that his posture went as well
Exactly right Xo Xo.
Much of that hate only started when Ore became a strong contender after the Jive, where Len said "Move over Jay", which angered certain Jay fans, and Craig said Ore was now the one to beat and he hopes Danny Mac was watching, which angered certain Danny Mac fans :-)
So after that Jive, just a week after his impressive American Smooth to "Singing in the Rain", Ore had picked up many new fans and many new haters too (where some were very biased and vocal with their hatred).
Therefore it was great that Ore won Strictly in the end. He deserved it 100% :-)
Definitely
This classic song just makes the dance good for me x
Can't help but laugh at that move 1:26
Like "Wow - Did you see that?!"
Yeah.. we saw, and it was shite hahahaa
I liked this well deserved scores I'd give it an 11, ( don't care if you don't like my view, it's my opinion)
Chris Cooper I totally agree
Well deserved score. Everyone needs to back off, it's not like he picks his scores.
It definitely didn't deserve tens, he was on his toes and skippy in hold, and the fleckerl looked awkward. 8s and 9s would have been more accurate.
bob good to see it's not just me who likes Joanne and Ore
Yeah the stick he's getting is pretty unfair, not his fault if the judges are marking him too generously. I think he's doing great, specially for someone with no dance training.
His posture during the fleckle was worse than Ed Balls - That is no exaggeration.
If you think THIS deserved flawless 10 scores, you're deluded.
This didn't deserve 10's.
Darcey: Your head was weird during the fleckle.
Also Darcey: A FABULOUS 10.
........... makes sense ....... 🙄
Ore is definitely vastly overmarked this week! Deserves only eights and nines imho...
Well, using Claudia's four 9s as the base for everything that followed, what would you give it? For all its faults, to me it was better than her jive.
phoebephoebo .sydney well, judges mark individual celebs since their week one performance, thus Ed's eight is never going to be a Danny's eight. I am marking Ore from his previous ballroom dances and compared him to no one else...
What would you have given Claudia's jive?
phoebephoebo .sydney If you were asking me, I rated her dance in her BBC clip, it's a nine (9).
It took 6 years to find a worthy winner after Kara and Artem, and Ore and Joanne filled that place superbly
Great performance from Ore all the selling to the public ,well done .
Beautiful dance. Deserved 4 10's
Yeah "JoanneCliftonFan" ...
Sure you can give a completely unbiased score. lmao
JoanneCliftonFan same
These are just amazing dancer
Just makes me wanna dance, by myself, preparing going out.
I like Joanne's dress.
8, 10, 10, 10
Hmm, a lot of flash but I would like them to be in ballroom hold more. The topline is good but the head position during the flerkl is oddl. 8.5
I thought it was a bit skippy too. Crazy marks. But then, the marks for the whole evening were insane.
When he was doing the natural and reverse turns it wasn't skippy, in fact, when he was in hold and doing proper VW, his footwork was good. When he's out of hold, that's another matter...
I thought that fleckerl went on just a bit too long. I would have shortened it and had him move around the floor a bit more instead. Floorcraft is an important element of Viennese Waltz, and the backup dancers could have been used a little more to highlight this skill.
God most of this dance was them spinning in a circle for 25 seconds
9 showman great
It was nicely danced but this doesn't look like Viennese Waltz, more like American Smooth or Foxtrot.
No, it was a Viennese Waltz, all right. All the syllabus figures were there: Natural turns, reverse turns, oversways, and fleckerls. What may be throwing you is the fact that "That's Life" isn't a traditional Viennese Waltz, although it definitely has the right time signature for one (it's written in 12/8 time).
Lee Cox That must be it, thanks for explaining!
I'm just curious..how many people commenting on ore's footwork are professional ballroom dancers. Your comments are most likely based on what Craig said... ore deserved 9's and 10's for this...8 is harsh....although Ed Balls would be more than happy with that. I just hope Craig doesn't treat ore like he treated Frankie Bridge where he gave her no 10's for the whole season even though she clearly deserved it. And then gave Caroline flack 3 10's in one night. If I were dancing I would completely ignore Craig's comments and focus on len and darcy, because they are constructive and have way more dance experience than Craig.
Judges favourite. NO WAY was this a 10. Darcey said his head in the fleckerl wasn't right but gave a 10?
This was too skippy, no flow.
8.
R M true!
R M Yes true he is definatley judges favourite
Over marked as always
Tens?! Definitely overmarked! I can't see this dance beyond a 9!
Yep, he got 3 tens I believed. 9 from Craig too.
R M Ridiculous! A lot of people were bleating he was overmarked in the past (which he wasn't) but this performance from Ore definitely doesn't deserve a ten.
I don't get how a judge can make a criticism on a dance and then give it a 10? Surely that doesn't make sense. Don't understand how this got one 10 let alone 3
she said she understood why his head was moving during the fleckerl, because it went on for so long, i still think it was brilliant
In what universe was this worthy of 3 10s, and how can Darcey acknowledge a mistake and then award him a 10?
Also, the move at 1:02 looks like it's from a pop music video, not a Viennese Waltz :/
Rilea as len said the head is not part of the top line it's the neck which was perfect
Chris Cooper I remember Len docking points off Danny's Viennese Waltz because his head wasn't to the left.... so where is the consistency?
Carlos Castro don't remember len saying that but my memory isn't that good (not trying to start a fight just my opinion)
Yes Carlos, i remember that too, it seems the judges take the public for idiots.
I agree, this was overmarked. Especially since Louise and Kevin's Paso Doble had so much more technique to it and only got 2 10's whereas this got 3 10's for less . . .

Yes, his posture was a bit awkward during the fleckle, but nobody could possibly hold a perfect posture for that long. Seriously, it's almost impossible.
And PLEASE stop calling him a judges favourite. When Danny was WAY overmarked on his mistake-ridden foxtrot no-one said anything that he was overmarked - seriously, after Ore did his jive people have not stopped nagging about him. He has had no dance training whatsoever. Not even a little bit like what Danny and Louise have. So please! Stop undermining him. He's a briliiant dancer just like Danny and Louise but calling him a judges favourite and blaming him! Now that's wrong.
i enjoyed this dance but even i know it was overmarked
Great dance, well performed.Neck and shoulders weren't great towards the end of the fleckerls. Not a 10 though.
This was not a great dance for them - guess the producers said be nice with the scoring ;)
I loved this dance but I do agree it was over marked. Saying that I thought all the dances were over marked this week not just Ore.
So so overmarked! Definitely wasn't 10 worthy
judges favourite, always over marked. amazing fleckle though
Two of his teeth fell out
No defence for this judging!
This was great, but not a 10 from any viewpoint.
Posture at 1:23 is terrible. No way you can give this a perfect score.
They overmarked Claudia with all 9s, so felt they had to give this more.
Jay Wilk totally agree I like Ore but this routine was over marked. I found it a bit boring if I am honest. Thought the whole show was a bit of a let down - maybe over hyped.
They always mark on a curve. They're not comparing him to Danny or to Claudia, but to his own prior performances. If they feel that he had improved significantly over last week, his score will go up to reflect that. A 10 for him is NOT the same as a 10 for Danny or Claudia.
Lee Cox Yeah, but a 10 has to mean perfection. You can't give someone a 10 in a dance with multiple obvious mistakes - that's just stupid. And anyway, Ore is not showing significant improvement. He had two amazing weeks and has plateaued. I expected better from him.
Jay Wilk I'm only saying that that's why the judges score the way they do. A judge on the long-defunct Dutch version of DWTS/SCD explained it to me when I asked him about it years ago.
@@yeahiagree1070 no it doesn't, Len said it before, sometimes a 10 is just better than a 9, Jake Wood's samba was a good example of that, a few techincal problems but they still gave it a 10 for the performance value, that does count for something, you know
How is it a judge can make a slight criticism, then go on to give a perfect 10.....the only honest, fair judge up there is Craig....why is this guy, along with Louise routinely overmarked??
He's marked on a curve to the extent that he's improved over his past performances. They're all marked that way.
OVER MARKED yet again!
hated this. they are always over marked and i'm sick of it. it's actually ruining strictly for me this year because each week he is clearlyyyyyy over marked and protected by the judges
