Haha yes. It's a nightmare & the nightmare unit! It is from a previous video. Here we go again! Haha I felt the same way when I got that call to come. Thanks for watching!🔧⚡️
Great job. One thing about fixing one leak is that it will lead to another one if on the same pipe. Water will always find the weakest spot in the pipe. Excellent idea to shut off the hot water and cap. Keep the great videos coming. I paused it and prayed for you too my brother.
Thank you & facts! It's all a matter of time. Water can be so corrosive. Appreciate the comment & thank you for the prayer 🙏 Stay tuned for new nightmares every week 😂🔧⚡️
I didnt subscribe to your channel a few months ago, then I forgot the name of the channel and have been searching for it ever since. Luckily this vid popped up in my feed today, subbed now :)
Yeah, I went to college also. Worked in an office, too. Hated it. I talked to the guy with his ass hanging out of the ceiling. He did HVAC. After asking questions, i plotted a career change. I am also planning to go to LaGuardia for RMO in the fall. I wanna work 2 jobs to cop a house in NY. I already have 1 in NC im making money off of.
This was an emergency repair to stop a major flood essentially from happening. Im sure theres much planning involved to get all the materials necessary involved and water shut off in making a permanent repair. Not just a quick day job. Nice work
I believe all hvac Apprenticeship should have work in this building for co-op on a week final exam before becoming a mechanic at commercial application. This would a true final exam hand on and tensioner high.
Damn you got your RMO and you're dealing with all of that. I got mines and made the switch. Got tired of dealing with the traffic and crazy jobs like this one😂
From the first shots i was like.. I know that place from another video :) When your done replacing the pipes just let the end caps there, you need them in the future
Facts! Especially knowing the water didn't fully shut down. Definitely scary. Haha I wouldn't wish this on anyone else😂 This job was painful forreal. Also taking off the insulation the next visit. Thanks for watching l! 🙏🔧⚡️🙌
I Love everything about this video it's very educated nice videos i have learned a lot from you thank you you are the best you work very hard in New York h vac
Great video! How would you go about cleaning out the insides of those pipes? What preventative maintenance measures would you have to do to ensure this doesn't happen?
Just be careful with that rattle gun! Buddy of mine sent me pics of a flooded mech room because a dude saw a drippy Vic fitting, hit with the rattle gun accidentally in reverse and the fitting blew apart. Dumped like 3000 gallons water in about a minute.
You're right about that. There is an isolation valve before and after the valve so the actuators can be replaced so thank God for that. Before that point like where we have the leak is pretty much in a terrible place. Thanks for watching! 🙏🔧⚡️
When you say licensed operating engineer can you elaborate. I’m a licensed operating engineer I have my blue seal refrigeration and high pressure black seal. Is that what you need to start your own practice ?
Haha facts! Guess what! It's the same building with the laars boilers 😂😂😂 I been doing service in this building every week for over a year now. Sometimes spent entire weeks here. Thanks for watching! 😂🔧⚡️🤙
Another great video as always. Good Job and Nice Work. Thank you for sharing. Have a nice weekend. May I ask, How to know which's Unit is Air Handler Unit or Fan Coil Unit ?
Next time a but of victaulic gasket grease wouldnt hurt (assuming you didnt use it because you didnt say) Really helps prevent pinching of the seal when you are tightening up the clamps
Great job, guys! I'm not surprised your nerves are jangling, with the possibility of a rather large wet surprise with the unknown of whether it will be hot or otherwise contaminated. I image that the (unthinkable) reality is that this is that this is the equivalent of putting a sticking plaster on the wreck of the titanic. Sometimes I think you really do get the worst HVAC jobs known to mankind! Is it as bad as it looks on camera? It would seem a HazMat suit would be in order just to ender the building... How is such a place even fit for any kind of habitation! I dread to think of the contaminants being blown around by those air handlers. Thinking about it almost makes me feel bad for that HVAC equipment in such an awful environment!
Haha I hear that! I wouldn't mind another person to make the true repair. It's a tough and dirty job. I gave the customer an estimate so we will see. Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️
@@JumpermanTech The very first UA-cam video from your channel I watched was from this place. I remember that water heater drip pan drain thing you had to set up so the place wouldn't get flooded out and I remember that nightmare of a tight spot you had to work in.
Did JumperMan make a follow up video of the air handler repair the next morning? That's the video I want to see. JumperMan you're really dramatic in this video, UA-cam I guess. How about buying the right wrenches/ 6-point sockets and ratchet extensions along with the wrenches for those fittings, HarborFreight sells tools that are good enough for occasional use; you can even use a power impact wrench to make the job go faster. Do you own a pipe grover? The manufacturer of those fittings says that a lube should be used on those caps, the lube both lubricates and seals. Probably a 90-minute job, mostly finding valves and watching water drain. Did you stay in the building while your helper picked up the caps? He should have picked up four. I don't understand why you didn't repair the handler at the same time, but scheduling is your prerogative Thanks for the video, it was interesting, that building engineer should spend a few weeks labeling things down there.. I
Sometimes you end up inheriting and absolute shit show that you know is going to plague you forever since you touched it once... This and that damn LG multi array on that apartment building rooftop are those units for you,my man...Eesh. But as long as the checks keep clearing and you're willing to go where others fear then yeehaw, this place is a gold mine.😂😂😂 I got a couple of commercial clients like this in Austin,Texas. Its never fun but always rewarding when you conquer and definitely a rush of adrenaline and moments of sheer terror in between. But its what we are built for, amirite?😂😂 Great work, boys!
Why in the hell do you engage in these nickel and dime handyman projects where you don't actually fix anything, and just bubblegum and bailing wire repair this equipment to stop the bleeding, Remove the length of pipe and several of the victalic fittings, lube the gaskets, and overlay the rotted tin on the top of that cabinet, because you know eventually, you'll fall through it , from the rot on top of the cabinet. Now you're going to have to come back AGAIN to do the same work. UNLESS they plan to replace the AHU in August and replace 90% of the piping,,,... where are the strainers too? Or am I missing something? I wouldn't have even started that project and allocated enough time to repipe much of that, I understand that you do what the boss says. Why not just valve it off and come back the following day to do it right...ALSO what do you think the cooing coil tubes look like? echhhhhhh.
Use Vic Lube not cheap but makes this easier and required well at least we used it on all connections only on Holidays 😂😂 Chris best Jr Tech east of Manhattan
Let me guess nobody’s treating that water no treatment company HOH chemical you got that out there it helps but it’s not 100%. We got a place that treated and it still eats the pipes good luck, man you’re gonna need it. Lol been before not fun.
Haha we are professionals when it comes to HVACR but the DIY thing is for other videos I made on the channel such as installing LED lights & building computers from scratch. Lately it's been mostly HVACR. Thanks for watching! 😂
Watching your videos has made stop complaining about where my calls are at......this place is straight trash. So much hackery in a lot of your sites....is that how people get down in NYC.
Haha damn. Honestly, it made me laugh, but I feel you! I get work in some strange places but they pay well. This is what happens when you go cheap for many years and bring in hacks. Now it's going to get expensive. No water treatment or maintenance. Thanks for watching brother! Always appreciate you watching & your comments 🙏🔧⚡️
That building should be condemned.

Thats what happens when you dont add chemical corrosion inhibitor for your closeloop systems they end up like those pipes
This is true. Scary to see what that pipe looks like. Copper would have been a lot better too. Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️
@JumpermanTech totally agree man but other than that your videos are always on point love your content keep it up
What was the other leaking pipe?
Quick Vic is that way to go also get yourself an impact gun

I wonder how old this building is for it to already have all these issues... looks like newish equiptment too
The suspense was wild fam 😂
Throw on some isolation valves above where you put the caps. You'll thank yourself when those bray actuators/valve assembly fail.
You're right about that. There is an isolation valve before and after the valve so the actuators can be replaced so thank God for that. Before that point like where we have the leak is pretty much in a terrible place. Thanks for watching! 🙏🔧⚡️

For little service jobs like that, you should look into some "Quick-Vic" style couplings.
