  • Today we look at Al and Chapel's time before Youngblood or becoming Spawn. This takes place during their time with Operation: Knightstrike, a special CIA program. In this issue we Chapel dispatch of Duke, a fellow CI team member via orders handed down from Jason Wynn. Al Simmons questions his boss as to why the hit needed to take place. We then catch back up with Wynn and Chapel five years later when Wynn asks Chapel to work for him once more. Youngblood is a creation of Rob Liefeld. Story by Erik Stephenson.

@@naimthebyrdman5068 I think Liefelds biggest problem is much of his early Image stuff feels derivative of what he was doing at Marvel (and he kept spreading his plots across multiple books). So many of his characters feel like somebody else from over at Marvel. Like we just stepped into another corner of the marvel multiverse.

Have you seen Linkara’s reviews of Youngblood? If so, what are your thoughts?

Nope, haven't seen them. I don't envy having to dig through that - especially if he does Prophet, Bloodstrike, Brigade, the whole Liefeld Universe. It was a fun little universe but he went for too much too fast while not doing enough to differentiate his earliest works at Image from what he did at Marvel. Youngblood were avengers, Numen were X-Men, etc. It gets better the further you go along but then most of the writing had been handed off by that point to Eric Stephenson.
