Good topic to mull over. Personally I think that manifestation is real and it can work both ways, for or against you. Historically, I think mankind has been doing it for millennia. The ideas of prayer, rituals, and sometimes meditation are built on the concept of focusing thoughts and energy toward an outcome. As you had mentioned overthinking things, you might even see that as focused thoughts and energy, but which are more likely to lead to a negative outcome. I enjoyed the countryside views. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for the comment! I don't know why I have such a hard time thinking that focusing on good things will make things good for me. It feels like praying, which has always felt like hoping that some other power will make things better, and that has always felt grasping at straws. I am actually learning a lot about myself from all the input from other people. I am loving it lol.
I can definitely vouge for the negative effects of target fixation on a bike... got the road rash to prove it! As for in life, I think target fixation stems from focusing on a problem and searching for a solution. I feel like target fixation is like your findSolution() function is stuck in a loop and never hitting a break condition or returning a value. One has to be conscious of this and throw a TargetFixationException so that they can move on to something else .
Sang, here! I always take notes whenever I hear your shows all the way back to the Bunker days. I hope you don't mind if I write a wall of text... 1) You're a hand-talker at times. Shame, shame ;-) 2) I think you missed out a lot not having a bike when you were up here in the P-N-W. 3) Skunk smell. I have found with strong odors possible, I tend to counter-attack by always having fabric softener sheets. Pockets, under cushions, etc. Maybe helmet? 4) Cows. 5) I completely understand what you are saying about negative thoughts and fixating on that one bad thing to the point that it swallows everything else. You're never alone. 6) Your other new thing - perhaps logos on your gloves during the videos? Just sayin' ;-) 7) I really would like to see a clip of a stretch of a road with no cars and just subtitles.... maybe apocalyptic music. Send me a clip, and I can learn some rudimentary video editing. I got nothing else to do. 8) Love ya - never stop!
Now that I actually listened to the whole thing, I don't think your crazy. The target fixation is pretty accurate as I do pretty my the same with the negative target fixation. Though I think the whole negative manifestation is more of a a perpetuation. Your whole description of how to drive a motorcycle fits life pretty well. "Where you look is where the motorcycle go's. And sometimes, you just need to give it a little gas, which freaks some people out."-Satyr
That use to be my favorite way to go from Lex to Chester too 😁
It gets so pretty in summer when everything is grown over. The wildlife is crazy on that road as well. I love it.
