Jon Underdown/Daiki Kasho - 5OUL ON D!SPLAY (Spec 2.0 remix) - Live ver.

- UPDATE 10/27/2017: Before you ask, yes, the guy singing in this is indeed the same dude appearing in the music of Sonic Forces. Surprising, no? Seeing as I've been following this guy (and Daiki Kasho to the right of him) since I first heard this very song in GT5's E3 2010 trailer.
I've always thought Jon would be good in a Sonic game, honestly. Welp, here we are.

(Sorry about the watermark. Had to go through a whole lot of shit to get this on UA-cam.)
FULL CONCERT HERE, in better quality: • Daiki Kasho & Jon Unde...
Taken from the GT Asian Championship in Japan held on August 11. After the championship, Daiki Kasho took the stage and performed five of the songs from GT5 and GT5 Prologue along with Fade band members Jon Underdown (lead vocalist and song writer), Rui (drums), and Noriyuki (guitar). At the end of the concert, they all perfomed a birthday song for Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of the Gran Turismo franchise, who had recently turned 45.
Performed here is Gran Turismo 5's main theme (or at least its main marketing theme) and the opening song for the Spec 2.0 intro movie, "5OUL ON D!SPLAY."
And my god, it cannot get anymore epic than this. A more-than-perfect theme for a certain dream traveler of light. =D (Aaaaand of course, a certain flaming rainbow pony. Blah. lol)

Lyrics:
Eyes go shut
I dissipate
Into thin air leaving no trace
Distant voice
Not listening
Why don't you just save your breath?
All of your words feel like a jail
That blocks the sun and makes me stale
Not enough gold in all the world
So why have I surrendered
To your abusive ways
The cracks have opened up to the core
Is there anywhere to go from here now?
Sick with the lies consuming our souls
Give me one reason to take the breath we breathe for granted
Hold it in so long that you forget to say
Give me one reason to remain confined within the fences
Here with you and my soul on display
Bite my tongue
Swallow the pain
A bit disturbed by these displays
Now we've got nothing to say
The silence growing deadly
So here we are drifting apart
Neither willing to drop their guard
Haven't we got something to say?
The distance growing deadly
From years and years of pain
The cracks go deeper than we can see
Let's take a good look at where we are now
Maybe the end's the start that we need
Give me one reason to take the breath we breathe for granted
Hold it in so long that you forget to say
Give me one reason to remain confined within the fences
Here with you and my soul on display
Life is too precious to waste
Give me one reason to take the breath we breathe for granted
Hold it in so long that you forget to say
Give me one reason to remain confined within the fences
Stuck here with you and my soul on display
Daiki kasho isn't a rock band. He is a person... he's the one with the tie. And the rest are members of Fade or yellow fried chickenz.
That’s the band members of Fade
How do you even know these bands?
And the crowd goes mild!
that's japanese crowds in a nutshell LOL just go watch some of Pride FC's events. They would have 100,000 people stadiums sold out, and the crowd would be dead silent while the fights were going on except for certain moments the crowd would go "ohhh" in unison (because they're super knowledgable on the sport and know what they're seeing unlike American fans that just cheer for knockouts)

Then there is that Gran Turismo fan just going *WOO YEAH GO AAAAA* (and yeah I'm a gt fan)
Glad to see the live performance. Would nice to be there.
They actually play these songs live? I'm surprised!
this song smell a gasoline and speed
I can smell rubber of speed
Also depends on the kind of audience, I think. Saw a video of Dokken live in Tokyo. It was a pretty pumped up crowd.
As much as I know in Japan it´s a sign of politeness to be quiet during a performance so the performers don´t get distracted.
But even knowing that it´s a crying shame when you play your ass off and there is absolutely no reaction.
Jon Underdown has such a good singing voice.
OMG!!!! THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO!!! been searching for the live version since a long time ago! love the song! thank you SuperSonicGTCE!
it's a shame that All My Life never got it own live version.
Yeah... unless Daiki Kasho shows up at one of these World Tour events in 2023, that is.
2021 still rocks.

2018 here!!!!
Nice to see a live performance I this song. Very little info about Jon/daiki on Internet, so this must be a rare video.
Any idea if the spec 2.0 version is available for download? It sounds more of a remix than the original song, sounds amazing.
Thanks for posting this video :)
Peace
Yeah, I agree. Jon is such a great vocalist.
As for Dakota Star, yeah, I heard they broke up, and last I heard, Chiaki's in a different band or something. I dunno. Google may trace her whereabouts, as that's how I was introduced to Jon and Fade when I read who did the vocals for Daiki's songs in GT5 Prologue.
Bruhh if I was there I would be moshing so hard

wow.. that's Daiki Kasho. i had no idea what he looked like. he made some f zero songs.
See my other comment to Rheza.
As for who Jon and DK are, Jonathan Underdown is the lead vocalist of the J-rock band Fade and the co-vocalist in Gackt's Yellow Fried Chickenz side band. He mostly sings English lyrics on Fade's songs, but on their latest albums, he can be heard singing in Japanese as well.
Daiki Kasho, from his discography, seems to be a freelance composer who first debuted in GT3. Before Jon, he had vocalists from Dakota Star doing the lyrics and vocal work.
00:17 What kind guitar is that ?! That's looks so new and unusual... :O
The Misa Kitara. Apparently it was soon replaced by its newer model, the Tri-Bass.
excelente musica
There IS a link to the full-length concert in better quality in the description, you know.
But yeah, again, sorry about the watermark.
I assume he never actually does sing. Starting with GT4 and continuing with F-Zero, he had Alan Brey and Chiaki from Dakota Star on vocals. After Dakota Star broke up and parted ways, he had Jon Underdown doing vocals on his songs since GT5 Prologue.
He got a couple of other guys to sing on GT6 though.
"Oh,so you wanna do this in the hard way? Hoops this is the hard way!"
Already noted in the description.
Besides, it's not even the full band anyway. Just Rui and Noriyuki, plus Jon. The guy with the Misa Kitara is from elsewhere.
If you're talking about the one with the tie. I agree and that's daiki kasho.
So I just found out the girl on the right isn't a girl at all but a guy. He is actually Daiki Kasho. LOL.

Is the 5OUL ON D!SPLAY Spec 2.0 has a full version?
As you can see, only a live version of it exists right now. I have no clue if Daiki Kasho has done a full studio version of it or not other than the short opening version of it.
What he HAS done, though, is a new dubstep remix of "Flow" from GT5 Prologue. You can hear it right before this concert on the Ustream where it originally aired. Again, no idea if he has plans to release it officially or not.
Ah, so that's where she went... Thanks for letting us know, btw.
Wait, what? I didn't hear Jon's voice in Daiki's GT4 songs. Only Dakota Star in them. Unless I'm mistaken, Jon didn't join Daiki until GT5 Prologue.
To answer your question, though, Alan Brey was Dakota Star's co-vocalist, so therefore, he went somewhere after the band broke up, and last I checked, he was on Myspace.
what about SURV1V3? isn't that from GT4?
@@HugoStiglitz88Nope. GT5 Prologue, 6, and 7
well, actually this is Fade (the band) & Daiki Kasho, not just Jon Underdown '-'
*shrug* That's Japan for you. I saw a vid of Utada Hikaru performing "Passion" a while back and the crowd was pretty much the same. Just standing there like statues. =/
Different cultures, I guess.
最高!
I have him on Facebook too. Though, sadly, he rarely does anything on his page. =/

Daiki Kasho is lucky that he's teamed up with a good talent. Chiaki is wonderful but Dakota Star broke up already. Do you know where Chiaki is doing now?
She is retired and is also a mother (based on her instsgram account)
And the audience didn’t move at all just like in the game play.
Some audiences in Japan can be like that. Look up some of Utada Hikaru's live shows.
ワンダーシェアで台無し
I ve enjoyed Daiki sounds since Need for Speed 4 High Stakes.
theres basicly nothing about daiki kasho on the internet
Maybe he's part of Illuminati then..
Yea it's weird but there's not a lot of info on him. I think it's because he's probably just a composer for things like this. He's definitely most well known for Gran Turismo though
Why is his voice in this live so diferent from the original version? From what i know is the same guy.
Live music for you.
@@greatsageclok-roo9013 Yes, but realy looks like another voice... 🤔
@@Rafael-ms5kf I do sometimes wonder what tricks are at play in the studio recordings. For instance, I watched the uploaded version of Feeder's 2001 show at Reading, and for some of the songs Grant's vocals are rather different - you notice it most with Turn.
Wish theyd do this for GT7 World Series
Some of the GTWS champions have met Daiki Kasho a few times including most recently, though, so... Maybe with the World Tour back on this year, we'll finally see another live concert. Fingers crossed.
@@Lux_Klonoa agreed! I think some people have Jon crap for the way he performed during the concert, which isn’t fair because I believe he was sick or something. I had a different account when I first watched your video but I finally remembered it after so long lolz Funny story, I remember when you first uploaded the video many years ago and was excited that Daiki Kasho was a real person instead of some stage name that I found Daiki’s email, then added him on Facebook and even got a friend request from him on PSN back on the PS3 days. 😂
@@chorizojoe8282 ...Jon was sick during this concert? Huh, news to me. o_o
So is the ending of this song from this performance missing forever? Sad
Yeah, unfortunately, Ustream cut it in parts back then. So unless Daiki does another live concert for GT7 with this song...
I want to get the full version too
Gran turismo 5 gran turismo 6 y gran turismo sport
Yeah.. only he uses it when someone sends him a message like on his birthday or like an event involving GT or one of his friend's birthdays.
Whatever happened to alan brey? Daiki used to work with him jonathan underdown and dakota star during Gran turismo 4 how come its only jon now?
why doesn't daiki ever sing?
He's a songwriter not a vocalist

is Daiki Kasho the one with the special LCD based guitar?
He's the dude on the right with the tie.
Super Klonoa
thx he looks young, how old is he exactly?

37 or 38. His site says he was born in 1976.
yea but if you agree with me, I think he look much younger than what it stated

Drums game a tad weak… other than that, amazing piece!
Very nice performance. Too bad they´re playing for human statues.
What an underwhelming display (in comparison to the song as it's in the game)
Well all songs are usually like that on live tours so I'm used to it
