Agreed! Now you’ll have to do the 2 songs that immediately follows Headbanger from the same concert:
Akatsuki (unfinished) and BABYMETAL DEATH to see the most epic sweet 16 birthday celebration.
There are plenty of “candles” in the last song….😂💀🦊🤘

This is the first song and performance we usually recommend. And there are many reasons for doing that: the song itself, it's an early performance (December 2013), the Kami Band already on stage and that insane crowd control.
Note about the band: they couldn't afford a real band playing live at first and they used to play the music in a backing track while Su-metal always sing live. The kamis (gods or spirits of each instrument) came out for the encore of that concert as they were being introduced progressively since 2012. They became permanent short before this (March 2014). They wear traditional burial robes and face paint here. Since 2019 they wear darker robes and masks.

Great reaction! You have stepped into the fox hole…but be warned:
1). You will experience symptoms of Babymetal, such as headbanging transitioning to side to side motion (see your reaction at 6:06 ).
2). You will begin to learn the audience portion of the dance moves in anticipation of future concert attendance.
3). You begin to feel the inexplicable need to introduce friends and family to Babymetal, as if they were your adorable nieces.
4). The memory of your life pre-Babymetal will begin to fade…
5). You wake up in Sakura Gakuin in ~1 month, where you succumb to Kawaii Poisoning…
    Have fun!

Nice reaction. Man, I want to go to their concerts too. Yup as in plural. This song has become a special song from them. For a few reasons. It's become the special birthday song. For 15th and 20th birthdays Su would hand over the main mic to Yui and Moa on those birthdays. Sadly, Yui left before we got a 20th birthday celebration. But we totally got an awesome 20th for Moa. The concert is called Legend M. We missed Momoko's 20th birthday this year. Many Babymetal fans are hoping for a happy 21st birthday next year. They can call it Legend Momo. One of the other things that is impressive about this song is how it gets better every time they perform it. When you become more attached to them when they get the mics you feel it for them.

    _Ban ban ban ban_ 🦊🤘🛐
Cool you're back with this suggestion, I'm pretty sure your mom will be in love with these girls once she see them rocking out on the stage at sucha young age.
They were part of Sabaton's Europe Tour, and everyone was having a blast with them coming back to the stage in these live concerts and more is coming such the Babyklok Tour in the US along with Dethklok and another return to UK and Europe for a headline shows. They finished the Asian and Australian Tour and more is coming such recently performing at Rising Sun Rock Festival, but so far this beloved song by fans wasn't part of the setlist outside of Japan.
Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! is one of BM fans favorite and got special meaning too. Song is about a 15 years old girl celebrating her birthday going to her first live concert, probably metal, while having melancholy for leaving her childhood behind.
It isn't about any of our girls but they embraced this song like it was made for them, you'll find many special versions of this, even when they celebrate their 20th Birthday.
15 is an important coming of age for Japanese girls, 20 is another important date.
This was at Legend 1997 (that's the title of this live concert referring to SuMetal birthyear) in 2013 celebrating SuMetal 16th Birthday, and the whole concert was special and one night only, if you want to know the rest of the songs finishing this, those are:
    - "Akatsuki" Unfinished Version, a beautiful SuMetal solo version with only a piano behind, the original song is a power/speed metal balad
    - "Babymetal Death", get ready for this insane ending,
The live concert and also this song got plenty of tributes to the greatest metal bands, like Metallica and X-Japan, specially Yoshiki, the gong at the end is one of those, you'll find more and plenty of this to add to their lore. The statue behind is SuMetal resemblance and is a tribute to Metallica's Lady Justice.
The official MV is also creepy for some fans, I guess the organ gave that effect, you'll also see the neckbrace there for the first time which is a tribute to Yoshiki from X-Japan.
Another thing that you don't see so much here in their live performance is, when YuiMetal and MoaMetal are hyping the crowd singing "Hedoban hedoban", the choreography on this part is with them down on their knees and doing the "dogeza hedoban" which is like bowing down back and forth summoning the metal spirit represented by the neckbrace while SuMetal is standing with the mic rise up and her relentless death stare, that's another moment we called -NotACult- 👀
The Kami Band here are an insane set of elite musicians who were sent to help with the metal sound, "kami" means roughly "god", they're wearing burial white robes and corpse face paint to represent those spiritual entities.
They rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarists).
    They are:
    - Míkio Fujioka, god of guitar, a beloved member, sadly he passed away in 2018. (R.I.P.)
    - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums tracks.
    - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. You can see at the end (when SuMetal is crawling upstairs) his head got written "Happy Birthday".
    - Hideki Aoyama,, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father was very famous in Japanese music scene.
During a recent live tour there was a completely different set of musicians playing with them, we called them Western Kami Band, and yeah, pretty much the official members of BabyMetal are the girls.
    Next suggestion:
    - Karate live at Download Festival 2016.
Stay tuned next August 18 for a new huge collab song coming up along with no other than the living legend Tom Morello from RATM.
Thanks for sharing this suggestion and see you next time!🦊🤘🔥

Great reaction. I hope you can get tickets, they put on the best shows - and if you do go to see them remember follow the girls' lead - their choreography serves two very real purposes: first off it is related to the song and helps with interpreting the meaning of the song or of a lyric, but more importantly it is designed to hype the crowd and to let them know exactly when to jump, when to pump their fist, when to sing along or chant etc.
This was the Legend 1997 concert in December 2013, Su-metal's 16th birthday celebration. Yuimetal and Moametal were both 14 and give a couple of 14 year olds smoke cannons you know they will have fun with them.
'Headbanger' is about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday - but 15 is also significant in Japan as that is when compulsory education ends, so the girl is realising she will no longer be considered as a child and her first 15 years passed by so quickly. So she is etching this special night into her heart so she will never forget.
It is not biographical - Su was only 14 when they recorded this song in 2012 - but I'm sure they could relate, even though they were already playing metal concerts before they were 15 and not just attending their first.
At shows on or near their own 15th birthdays in 2014 Yui and Moa (the two younger girls) took over lead vocals when Su (lead singer) handed them the mic and stand half way through the song (there are only fancam videos for those performances).
The same thing happened in 2019 for Moa's 20th birthday at the Legend M concert (20 is the official coming of age in Japan).

This video was recorded during the Legend 1997 Apocalypse concert that BABYMETAL did on Dec. 21, 2013 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan just outside of Tokyo. Apparently it has a capacity of 9,000 and it looks like this show was sold out. If you want to experience the entire concert, here's the link: ua-cam.com/play/PLdBAj9hZ91wCao72oSqTMLrGpIDOqzR2Q.html
I would say that's not doing too bad considering they released their very first music video only a year before this concert. The lead singer, Su-metal, had just turned 16 (Yuimetal and Moametal - the two "cheerleaders" - are both a year younger) and this was a sort of "celebration/transformation" concert for her.
I should point out that this is BABYMETAL when they made listening to metal music fun, and I think you'll agree that this is vastly different from "Monochrome". I wouldn't dream of dissuading you from wanting to see a BABYMETAL concert (I would love to go see them myself!) but understand that, although I'm sure it would be a epic experience, it's quite unlikely it would be anything like this.
If I may, I would like to provide you with what could be considered a road map down the BABYMETAL foxhole; a BABYMETAL Top Twenty playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLdhz2aj0pt4zPl0BZLevPUR9uHKQA27uj.html Perhaps you'll consider using it to help you navigate the BABYMETAL of old. it may be a good idea to see what they were before getting too caught up in what they are. And although I agree with the One (BABYMETAL fans) that BABYMETAL is best served live, they do have several music videos that are works of art (see the Top Twenty for those) and shouldn't be dismissed out of hand. With that being said, I will say that this version of "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" is much, much better than the MV.
In any event, enjoy your trip down the foxhole! (You're in for a wild ride!!!)
    KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘

Great comment! I think you’re a neighbor and I thank you for supporting the band. I’m pretty sure you know this, but I went to Makuhari last January. The venue is basically a very, very large convention center. The main venue is extremely large, (possibly 2-3 football fields in length.). It has movable walls to subdivide the venue into something like 7 rooms. I was not at any earlier shows, but the 2023 performance used 2, maybe (doubtful) 3 rooms. I was there, but not very familiar with the venue. That particular show had 20 to possibly 25 thousand attendees. The earlier shows might have been less. I don’t know for a fact, but the metal arches appeared to divide the rooms, or support moving walls. If you can see them, it is probably multiple rooms. Just a respectful tidbit.

Great reaction! Since no one else seems to have mentioned it yet, the banging of the gong has special significance and is not done at every show.
The banging of the gong signifies the ending or end of something important, whether it be the end of a "Chapter of Metal Resistance" (leg of a tour) or some other event
In this instance it represented a couple of things....
    1. The beginning of the end of using the Babybones actors (guys in skeleton suits) pretending to play instruments over backing track and the beginning of the live Kami Band supporting Babymetal full time at live shows
    2. The end of Babymetal being a sub-unit of the larger J-Pop Idol group Sakura Gakuin and the start of Babymetal as a independent group.
    3. The ending Suzuka Nakamoto's ordinary life as a J-Pop Idol and the beginning of her rebirth and ascension as Metal Goddess Su-metal. #notacult
The gong was banged at all 10 of the Budokan shows in 2021 celebrating Babymetal's 10 year anniversary, signifying the final completion of Metal Resistance. Afterwards, Babymetal was sealed away (gone on hiatus). No one knew for certain if they would return.
Thankfully they have returned with a new Metalverse , a new album and a new permanent 3rd member! (Yui left in 2018 for undisclosed health reasons).
    Anyway, enjoy the ride!

You are totally right, you don't need subtitles to fully enjoy their music. Actually I suggest not to activate the CC when available on first reactions. It can be a little too much and you need all your attention to get what's happening on stage. Their music transcends all kind of barriers: language, country, race, gender, age.
"Headbanger" is one of their early hits and it's very interesting lyrically since it tells a story about a girl attending to her first metal concert the night of her 15th birthday and living it as a life-changing experience. The song is actually about growing up and leaving the childhood behind, not without a hint of nostalgia.
They are touring in the US and Canada from late August until mid October. Get your tickets ASAP if you want to go, since they are selling out. I promise you that your first BABYMETAL concert will be a life-changing experience, just like the story from this song. 😁
You can check out next "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" Live at Sonisphere 2014. Probably the most important moment in their history.

This was performed in 2013, to celebrate Suzuka's 16th birthday. If you plan to go to one of their shows, I'd recommend watching videos for all the songs that may show up in their setlist. One of those is iine! which is a first album song that recently started being performed again.

Great song and a wonderful concert imo - you've had a really good intro to BM unlike many :). This concerrt has me grinning form ear to ear no matter how often I see it :D These girls are the best promo for Japan in about the last 30 years (a pity Amuse doesn't realise that) - I reckon the Japanese govt should sponsor their shows abroad so we can have Japanese style concerts too 😁. As to suggestions - you're probably already drowning in them but for me Kagerou or BMC (live) wow me - and also the Budokan version of 4 no Uta (written by the "side" girls Moa & Yui)

Great reaction , the audience reaction to Headbangèr is always fantastic, but the handing by Su to Yui and Moa on their 15th birthdays is something the fans loved and something special the handing the microphone to Moa on her 20th Birthday at the Legend M show in her hometown was epic . 😁

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。Can you believe that this is the 12th song after 11 exhausting performance (and still 2 more) even if this was filmed in 2013 when the girls were mid-teens? The crowd's mass headbanging occurs wherever BM goes on this planet. In this video, you heard the crowd shout some words at 04:47. The words are "ki-e-ro 消えろ!" meaning "get out of here!" (addressed to crybabies in the metal concert). The crowd's shout in Japanese language occurs whenever Su-Metal turns her mic towards the audience. I have witnessed this song performed live 11 times at the venue with Su's matured voice and more agitating moves by Moa and Momoko. Did I do headbang? Oh yes. And very coincidently, I have a ticket to tomorrow's (Aug. 16 Japan time) BABYMETAL concert in Tokyo. Looking forward to doing 12th time headbang. They will start North American tour on Aug.30 (30 gigs in USA and Canada). I hope you can get a ticket to the gig to be held near to your home. (Almost sold out, though)

Great reaction! So I'd recommend Road of Resistance Live in Japan Official next. Their crowd control is next level in that one, and it's an amazing song too. So this was pretty much what I guess we could call Babymetal 1.0. As I think Grington 300 told you a few days ago one of the member had to leave the group due to health reasons. You saw her in this performance. So you have Su-Metal who is the main vocalist. She'll always have her hair in a ponytail and she'll almost always be the one with the main mic. Next you have Moametal. She'll always have her hair in pigtails and you'll know its Moa by the adorable dimples she has when she smiles.... and she smiles often. Next you have Yuimetal. As mentioned sadly she had to leave the group for health reasons. She also always sports pigtails when performing and she'll be the one with the huge chubby baby cheeks. When Yui left Babymetal had 3 girls taking turns helping to fill the void that Yui left. They called these girls the Avengers. You'll be able to spot an avenger because their hair again. They won't have their hair in either a Ponytail, nor pigtails, but instead will have their hair down and will have little buns where the pigtails would be if they had pigtails. Recently one of the avengers was promoted to become an official Babymetal member thus creating what I'll call Babymetal 2.0. Her name is Momometal. She now you'll see her with pigtails. You'll know its her because she is the one that is almost as tall as Su-Metal, so she's noticeably taller than Moametal.
Anyhow hopefully that helps you out a bit in discerning who is who in case you ever want to say something about one of the girls.
Lastly, there is a couple other versions of Headbanger as well. This is the main version that you watched. There's also a version where Moametal gets to sing (it was Moa's birthday so in honour of her birthday, they gave her the mic to sing headbanger), and there is also a more EDM version which is probably the ONLY time where Su-Metal just lipsyncs. If you ever are interested in checking that version out search on youtube Babymetal AvaMarie. It's a very early version of the song, and while I don't like EDM normally, I think this version sounds amazing as well.
With all that being said, there is almost no wrong way to choose what Babymetal song is best to listen to, although for the trilogies we normally recommend listening to them in order. Since you just listened to Headbanger, I'd also recommend reacting to Akatsuki and Akatsuki Unfinished. The Unfinished version is the version that is part of the trilogy of Death. It is the song which comes after Headbanger. After Akatsuki is finished, then the last song of this trilogy would be entitled Babymetal Death Legend 1997. In case you're wondering about the year 1997, that is the year Su-Metal was born. This trilogy of Death is a trilogy about a JPop idol being reborn as the metal goddess we now have before us. Before Babymetal she was training to become a JPop idol and actually had already kind of acquired that as she was part of a fairly famous JPop group called the Karen Girls. Eventually you'll probably even want to check that out as Su-Metal is SUUUUUPER YOUNG in that, it's pretty amazing to see!
Lastly, enjoy your trip down the fox hole!!
