Vando is a 6'9'' forward, who hasn't played basketball in a long time. Even if he comes back he'll need the rest of the season to be 80% Vando. And 100% Vando still can't shoot. It might be a better choice to just stick with Max now. I've hated on Max for 2 years now, but he is a solid 5M rotation wing now, who looks like he will live up to his contract with more experience. What's weird is that they try to keep defensively strong wings from D'Lo and play them with AR now. And AR is turning in 6/17 games galore and everyone is just looking at the stat sheet like Austin with 20 again. Sure yeah, because he got to the line and made those free throws. Long story short someone has to go here. I think we all agree the best PF we have behind LBJ is Rui. And he looks great with 25 minutes. LBJ wants to play about 35. AD plays about 38. And Koloko or Hayes seems to make no difference for those 10 minutes. I still don't know why we even talk about Jonas. It makes no sense at all. Anyway, Rui has to get some run at SF, because LeBron isn't going to go to 24 minutes and split the position with Rui. Therefore Rui ends up taking at least like 12 minutes at SF. Ergo we have 36 minutes at SF left over. Now when you approximate the leftover SF and SG minutes coming from the other side, you'll find that at PG we really got D'Lo and Gabe, but somehow AR is the starting PG right now. Let's say Austin is PG for 18 minutes, D'Lo 18 and Gabe 12. That pushes D'Lo into SG for like 10 minutes. AR even takes like 14 minutes at SG, because he gets played for a lot of minutes. And Gabe also takes another 8 minutes, because he remains the only point of attack defender you can put on a PG besides Max. Essentially that adds up to there only being 16 open minutes at SG. So you got like 16 minutes left at SG and you got about 36 minutes at SF. And there are Max, DK, Cam and if he comes back there will also be Vando. The way I see it, we don't have minutes for D'Lo, Austin, Max, Cam, DK and Vando. Let's say Cam is out of the rotation first, because we can all agree DK is a great talent with much more upside and needs minutes, otherwise he'll be ready in two years, when LeBron is most certainly done. So you have Max, DK and Vando. Ideally DK would play SG and become our version of Booker, but somehow DK is the one with the more complete game offensively and Max is the classic SG/SF type of wing. I guess you continue to start Max at SG and he eats up those 16 minutes there. At best you now have 36 minutes left for DK and Vando. And you have about 0 minutes for Koloko or Hayes already, never mind Jonas. Even if he were to get all the minutes behind AD, we are full at PF and Rui sucks at SF and you'll have DK and Vando, who will already be low on minutes. Jonas makes 0 sense here. I think it makes the most sense to give Christie 6 minutes at SF and DK 20 and keep Vando on a minutes restriction for like 10 minutes per game. At that point you might as well just trade him now. In fact we should honestly consider giving New Orleans Vando plus a first and two seconds for Herb Jones. Then everything clears up in my opinion. D'Lo goes back to starter. Herb becomes your starting SG. Max starts at SF. Off the bench you bring Gabe, Reaves and DK with Rui and AD or Koloko. That's three shooters, two primary ball handlers, two rebounders, one traditional big, two point of attack guys (Reaves does sooo much better against bench dudes) and basically two versatile wings starting and DK off the bench as the sniper. I like Vando, but he seems like the odd man out right now. I'd move heaven and earth to get New Orleans to trade up to Jimmy Butler with our picks and BI's contract. 😂

I am a big fan of good defense. I enjoyed the dead ball era bc to me, it was the best defensive era. It had the athletic players of today and had rules that favored great defense. That struggle, the way my team fights for every possession, its the best man. Shooting comes and goes but great D like that makes you a scrappy team that cares and gives it their all and that, For me as a almost 40 year long laker fan has always made me care most, and thereby enjoy those games the most. I can feel, my players, my team, caring about each position the way I do at home. It's makes me feel like we are together as a team, as stupid as that sounds, that is my experience. I feel the games matter more when I can see my team cares. I also always found defense to be very beautiful when played right in the dead ball era. these dude's could defend so well, so pretty. I know some people love high scoring but All my favorite bball memories revolve around games that were brutal defensive wars. It seems fairly simple why that is, to me. When your team and the opponent are both playing high intensity defense the whole 48, you know one thing. Every player on both teams is trying as hard as they can to win and that is what makes for legendary games. Who wouldn't care more if their teams battles harder, and hard defense is always that.

Im not buying their recent increase with defensive intensity. One thing I've learned about this team is to expect inconsistency. They still need to trade for some consistent pieces. If you watched the Minnesota and last kings game then you saw both teams miss a lot of open looks from 3. Lakers did better with rebounding and transition defense. But i still dont trust some of the supporting cast to bring it when it really matters. Pelinka still needs to do his job

These last 6 games honestly been great to watch defensively from the Lakers. I believe that Miami game set a tone we can never play defense like that again! Definitely prefer defense over offense for this particular Lakers roster. I believe if we keep playing defense like this we’ll continue to win more games. Our offense won’t stay at 30th it will gradually increase over the course of the next 5-10 games if we can maintain this level of defense. I think we can finish this season (if everyone remains healthy) 10th in offense 15th in defense we’re gonna round both sides of the ball out to average. It’s harder to maintain an elite defense then it is getting better on offense imo and I don’t believe this roster will stay dead last in offense the remainder of this year; I just don’t see that happening. (That only happens if we lose AD, LeBron, and Austin due to injury for a long gap in the season).
There is Hope @ The End of The Tunnel with Our Great Defense over the last 5ish Games while, having to Outscore Every Team We play is not Sustainable and Dependent upon LBJ/AD scoring 50+ Every Night, Rui/AR/MaxC scoring 40+ and Getting 30+ off Our Bench!!! Defense just need more effort from the others. AD is top tier defender in leage. born can when he needs to be at end of games. Based on the circumstances I laid out, they shouldve won 55+ games which means they wouldnt have played Denver in the First Round. His UNDERACHIEVING cost the Lakers 10+ wins in the regular season and forced them into playing a Superior team in round 1. If we had won 55+ games like we shouldve based on Bron/ADs health, we get a much favorable matchup to start the playoffs and AT LEAST get out of the First Round. The MID Mavs were able to svoid Denver and make a Finals run by winning just THREE more reg season games than the Lakers did

Come on trevor, there is no trade that makes you a clear contender, and if we think like that we will do nothing again, you just have to be in the race, you never know how it breaks with match ups and injuries, go deep into the playoffs and you have a chance, i think with a few tweaks we are winning most 7 game series apart from boston and maybe dallas.

Definitely prefer defense over offense for this particular Lakers roster. I believe if we keep playing defense like this we’ll continue to win more games. Our offense won’t stay at 30th it will gradually increase over the course of the next 5-10 games if we can maintain this level of defense. I think we can finish this season (if everyone remains healthy) 10th in offense 15th in defense we’re gonna round both sides of the ball out to average. It’s harder to maintain an elite defense then it is getting better on offense imo and I don’t believe this roster will stay dead last in offense the remainder of this year; I just don’t see that happening. (That only happens if we lose AD, LeBron, and Austin due to injury for a long gap in the season).

I’d rather have a great defensive team. Plus defense wins championships. Theres nothing more disheartening than scoring and the other team scores right back. With a great defense you always feel like you are in a game. When you just have scoring you always feel you could lose.
Just get JHS and Maxwell Lewis plus whatever draft compensation for Day Ron Sharpe and all it a day.
For the most part offense is skill while defense is effort. Not always. But in general.
So let’s focus on getting our offense back to top 5-10 in the leage. Defense just need more effort from the others. AD is top tier defender in leage. born can when he needs to be at end of games. There is no reason Rui shouldn’t look like Giannis on defense if he showed more effort. Reeves is what he is. And when Delo is in. He should be looking like a mad man on defense w tons of energy and effort if he wants to keep a job. He barely shows effort or any type of energy on defense. He’s smart. He could if he wanted to but seems like he has always had a too cool attitude. We would all love Delo if he stepped up defense and was a mid level 10M type of guy now in his career.

I want a balanced game Trevor. I'm more interested in effort. I don't care if it's on O or D, but give effort. I think that makes for a great game. To answer your question, I prefer a better offensive team, But and it's a big BUT, I think the NBA gives too much leeway to offensive players. I feel the NBA punishes defenders and that deters NBA players from going hard on defense.
