Been using pex pipe for these gm strikers for a few years. Remove the striker, unscrew the large washer, use a heat gun to slightly heat up the pex and push it on. Works very well.
I like it! Thanks John. I have found a few of those washers that really don’t like to come off…I guess my way in the video was a bit lazy but it’ll be fine 😂
Not sure how long, but this car will not likely get much exercise. We will see! I’m sure many different types of material will work. We are just taking up some slack on space.
Dorman makes proper replacement bushings for all models cheap as hell and available everywhere.

As a plumber of over 20+ yrs i approve and actually use this method….on my ‘73 c/10 swb fleet
I couldn't believe how well this made these doors close!
Excellent!
Thank you for this fix. Worked on my 66 Shelby Cobra.
Good idea, how long do think that's going to hold up ? maybe try copper tubing, or some other metal tubing, thin walled pipe ?

Hold on gotta go check mine 😂😂😂😂
What models & years came with the bushing ?
I think most of them that have this striker will have some sort of sleeve that rotates on the shaft.
