Hey bro, I go to Pepperdine University in Malibu CA, and I’m going into my sophomore year so I’m starting my second year here. It’s rough, my campus has 3600 students and I was the only veteran admitted into my incoming class when I enrolled. Former 11C just for some background. It’s fucking rough dude. No one invites you out or wants to go out with you because of the age difference, and the age discrimination is real. My university is also a rich kid university that costs $90k a year to go to, there are 18 year olds driving McLarens and Ferraris but have never seen a tax return. I live on campus as well.
For anyone reading this. Its fucking hard. I don’t come from money and the college world is much less a meritocracy than the army was. You have some people who will say hi to you, but at the end of the day you’re just seen as some crazy vet that people know but don’t want to get to know. It’s also hella lonely. I was never someone who drank the army kool-aid and im still struggling to readjust after 3+ years after being out. Plus there’s also Fizz that is more than willing to let your fellow classmates put you on blast anonymously without any consequences. I know im rambling too but idk. Truth is im struggling to even live with myself on campus sober, most of the time I may or may not ingest other substances to get me through each day so maybe I can not be fully aware of how ostracized I am. I know someone from my school will probably see this and post this on fizz too but whatever let em.
Just wanted to say thank you for being vulnerable enough to put this video up and show me im not as alone as I think. It’s not stuff I even share with my family because whenever I try im immediately judged and ridiculed. Thanks again man, it means a lot. Idk why I even shared so much, maybe for the sake of venting idk. Thanks again man.

Hey man I’m in the army rn getting out next year and I was wondering is it hard to get accepted to a good school after the military?

Being prior military and including that in your application can be a huge plus but if you haven’t done it before I recommend doing at least a year of community college first. Getting out and trying to maneuver your way through a 4 year university can be really overwhelming.
