- “The Newlywed Game” was a classic TV game show where newlyweds would compete with each other for grand prizes. Sharon and Garvin Kotzin appeared on the show in 1977. Their simple secret to a successful, long marriage is to have fun together. Jeri and Mike Wirtz also appeared on the show in 1977 as well. After 46 years of marriage, Inside Edition’s Jim Moret put them to the test to see how well they know each other.
This show was genuine. 46 years of marriage takes dedication
They have a tik tok
Got a life sentence
it takes commitment and a high degree of mutual toleration
Definitely
It's all about respect for each other. Laughter and of course the Whoopee...
They need a anniversary game for those married 25 years or more. 😂
Now that would be a fun show to watch.
Absolutely! Count me in!
Definitely agree I would love to see all of I watched when I was little.
Brilliant!! I would watch that.
Nah. Man after 25 years every couple would or should get every question right. It'd be a four way tie every episode
I work for a couple who’ve been married for 74 years. 74 years! That’s incredible.
My friends parents just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. What a testimony!
What do they talk about?
@@user-il6zg6lz7k death, I'm sure.
No just kidding. I'm sure they talk about their lives, kids, grand kids and great grand kids. They have lived alot of life, and have alot of things they share and can talk about.
My Great Grandparents were Married for 85 YEARS!
They were 18 🤵🏽♂️👰🏾💒 and lived to be 103! 🙏🏽🕊️🙏🏾🕊️
@@sonyadrake7843 Gotta love The Drake.
Mike still looks at Jeri with such love and admiration….so beautiful
They have a yt channel, jeri & mike
They were the cutest couple on there!!
I noticed that too
@@larsonfamilyhouse
I thought that was them! 😃
My wife and I were on twice. Once for a reunion show. I think we were on in ‘73. Still married. It will be 53 years this December.
You should share a link to the clip. Congratulations on 53 years.
Congratulations!!❤
Wow, lot's of sacrifices and compromises there.
Jeri and Mike has a UA-cam channel that's very entertaining. Especially with Jeri cooking some of her favorite foods.
I was just going to say that but you beat me to it lol ❤
Yes, I think I'm subscribed to their channel. I was surprised to see them here.
@PsyphaX09 what's the name of it? They're adorable I'd love to check it out
@@unexpectedvixen5685 Jeri & Mike is their channel's name.
I watch them too❤
She’s still upset about it after 50yrs lol😂

My sweet husband passed away in February 2020. We met at a Christmas party in 1969 and we got married in June 1970. I walked in the door at the party and he was the first person I saw. There truly is love at first sight because I definitely fell in love with him that night. We would’ve been married 50 years in June 2020 but he went to Heaven before we made it. But we were together 50 years counting the 6 months before we got married. I miss him so very much! When you’ve been with someone for that long it feels like half of you is gone.
Sorry for your loss. I'm 47 and still haven't found my Prince Charming.
You married the month after my dad died, statistics say that more men die before their spouses, even baby boys, more boy babies die before their first birthday then girl babies, just yesterday I felt my dad near me (after 53 years) what about yourself, have you felt your late husband near you?
I am sorry for your loss, but you had 50 wonderful years together...My wife and I have been married for 36 years...I hope that our health carries us as long as you did...Blessings
🫂 and happy anniversary!! 💐
I’m sorry you lost your husband so close to 50 years. I was married for 24 years to my husband who died at age 51. We would have been married 42 years next month.
This was fun to relive…we were on the show that aired in March of 1968…my husband had shipped to Vietnam by then and was never able to view the program…I have tried to get a copy for him at our 50th anniversary…but sadly I never found the right people to connect with..we will celebrate our 57th anniversary this August…lots of great memories and family times. Oh and we won!!!!
Maybe reach out to Inside Edition. They seem to have sources. Good luck😀
Maybe try searching around UA-cam if you know the season and episode.
I hope you can find it!
I'm off-topic. Forgive me. I played William Tell Overture on the piano when I was five years old, Texas,1955, on the Bobby Peters show. They may not have even made a recording back then.
Bless y'all❤❤
While we have never been on a television show, my wife and I have been married 42 years. Kids, mortgages, minivan, vacations, baseball games, PTA, births and deaths : we’re still here. Takes dedication, understanding, having a strong faith, looking for the best in one another, being their support and loving no matter what.
I said “ I do “….not “ I think so “. …or “ till you age or don’t look like you’re 25 any longer.” She didn’t say “until you lose your waistline and hair.” She said “I do “.
Congratulations and Wishing you many more Blessed Years!

Your flippant supposed reasons for divorce shows you don’t understand divorce at all.
@@carollynt I’m not divorced. I meant that we, meaning my wife and I, stay together no matter what life throws at us.
Read it again : I meant what I said and so did she.

Now as an adult I understand what "whoopie" is. 😳😁
@ifonlyicared My hippie parents hated that term. They called it “making love”.
Me too! 😂😂😂
Whoopie, I'm finally getting some.
Would anyone really want to make WHOOPIE? Not me. She's not my type.😄😄😄
Whoopi goldberg?
cool to see them old but still with their same spark of what they once were
Loved this recap. It's nice to see older couples making it
nice to see older couples making whoopie?
Young love is sweet, but a long, happy marriage is a treasure.
"We laugh together". That's it right there folks. My wife and I have been married for 38 years (together 43) and we laugh every day. If I have to run to Home Depot, my wife jumps in and we get a coffee for the trip and sing songs on the radio together. Other than the gray and being parents and grandparents now- we're still the same couple as we were in the summer of 1979.
That is fantastic ! God Bless You !
I'm 70 and my parents have been married 73 years. That's dedication.
Watching the clips from the show takes me back to the 70s. I can hear “We’ve Only Just Begun” playing in my head.
Was that when you were the little Lolita 👰
Yes me too, I used to watch that show, I graduated from high school in the 1970s. That was a Karen Carpenter song, We’ve Only Just Begun, I really loved that song.
Same
@amy. I hear You Light Up My Life. 😊
I hear "Cisco Kid, Was a Friend of Mine!"
You have to love the 70's nostalgic. My adorable parents will be married for 50 years this May.
50 years together! They deserve to celebrate 🎉🎉🎉
We were on the show in 1979. We’re still married too….46 years next month!
Congrats 😍
If you won on the show or not you won on the marriage.
Congratulations! That is awesome!
My Mom and Dad were married over 70 years and they still held hands. My Dad would say, "isn't she pretty?"
I think Jeri and Mike have a UA-cam channel. Either them or someone they know had uploaded some videos of them.
Yes they have a UA-cam channel.
Yeah. I have seen some of their videos. They seem like a sweet couple.
Yes, they have IG also
I follow them on Instagram 😊
Their channel is great! 😊
Now, THIS is good news to show on Valentines Day .❤❤
I remember watching this as a kid. Didn't understand the context of it, all I wanted to see was if they matched answers.😅
@rockytrumpett7817 I wanted to see if they had the right answers too! But I my case, my parents were hippies and they explained each and every question I had about the show. They hated the term “Whoopie”, by the way. They called it “making love”.
The innocence of a child. Priceless!
Me also, I was just a young kid at the time.
This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. This gives me such hope.
I follow Jerry and Mike. I absolutely love them. All these years. She is just as beautiful now.
🤮
Gives worst answer possible, still married, legend.
I love this! This is the stuff that needs to go viral !
Absolutely 💯
My wife and I have just gone 51 years married. We have 2 adult kids and 4 Grandies ranging in ages 10 to almost 20.
So sweet for Valentine's Day!!
So nice to see interracial couples represented even back then!
Why?
I’m sure “Bubba in Birmingham” about spit-up his grits when he saw that………😂
@@user-js8eg2fp3x Maybe because about twenty years before they filmed this episode it was literally illegal for them to be married.
What State?
Not your grudge to carry @@kshay89
@@user-js8eg2fp3x interracial marriage was illegal until the late 1960s
Its so heartwarming to see these couples still together after all these years. Good for them. I only hope that one day I can experience that. After all, some marriages don't last too long.
My favorite episode of The Newlywed Game was when they asked the guys, "How many times a week do you and your wife make whoopie?" One guy paused for a moment to do the math, and said, "Twenty one."
Everyone else was like, "Three times a day? No way! Big talker!"
Then when the wives were back on, his wife even paused to do the math, just like he did, before saying, "Twenty one!"
Then everyone else was like, "Whoa! You da MAN!"
We were contestants in 1972 a fun experience.
I was in grade school when this show aired, but thought it was so funny. I had always wondered about whether some of these couples were still together. So glad I found this. 😂
Now this is a wonderful piece. Ty
We need to see more happy, loving moments like this in the news.
“Still together!😱” Imagine that - people making vows to each other and then actually keeping them.
That's when people really loved and cared about each other and was willing to go the extra mile to make their marriage work. 😊❤❤❤
I learned the phrase, “Making whoopie,” from this show. 🤣
Man its awesome to see these people together today. Rock on and long and happy lives
Even though I am single I enjoy seeing other good people together to remind me there is still some good this world 🌎.
Me too😎!
I miss that show.
I’m so glad you did this!! Showing that marriage is something that is a lifetime commitment!!
As a kid watching that show I found it hilarious, whats worse is that at 8 years old I actually knew what they were talking about and understood the humor
My wife and I celebrated our 40th anniversary this year. We won our Newlywed Game in 1985. Good times...
Congratulations on winning and your long marriage!
Congratulations ❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I love Jeri and Mike! They’re so adorable in their videos.
so happy for them still going strong
I see Jeri and Mike on yourube alot. They're great!😂
Me and my wife got 43 years together after 10 weeks of dating
What a beautiful story.
I watched this show as well as The Dating Game back in the 70’s.
My favorite was this stern man and the hist asked them whst they did the night they got married. You can tell he didn't appreciate the question, he said on a stern voice "we went to bed". everyone started laughing 😂
What a cool update! Love this! Would like to see more.
Love this! Sometimes when I watch old reruns on the game show channel, I find myself wondering whatever happened to them.
Me too!
What a great idea! And a very good presentation. Thanks. I’m old enough to remember the show!
Thank you for telling their stories
Wow. I LOVED what these couples said. You can see why their marriages have not only endured but thrived. ❤
This was great to watch!
Oh my god I know Jeri and Mike from UA-cam and Tik Tok I love watching them. Had no idea they were on the show
Thank you for this story. I have always wondered about that.
That was fun to watch!
God I’m so old I used to watch these when they were first on air. Great to see that some of these couples actually made it this far. What a great show. Wonderful pastime for us kids in the 70s.
What an awesome clip! 💕
I watched this show all the time.
Thanks for reminding.
"maybe it wasn't you" 🤣🤣
That was sweet. Thanks for airing something wholesome
It would be really cool if they had a reunion special and brought some of the most memorable couples back. Although Bob is 86. Don’t know if he’s up to the task but a reunion would be great
FINALLY!!!! I’ve wondered about these people for years!
That was a nice segment
Best video I have seen in weeks.
Blows my mind to see couples like that. My parents split after 35 years and they argued the entire time
Sometimes people hang in there for the kids. I wonder why your parents would stay together for 35 years if they were so unhappy 🤔

BEAUTIFUL 💜
My grandparents just had their 75th in July. Sadly my grandfather just passed 6 months later on Jan 27th. The day before my 43rd Birthday. He was 99. The always called and sang happy birthday together. I don't know how she kept it together but she called on my birthday the day after he passed and sang to me.❤ was weird not hearing my granddaddy mumble happy birthday in the background. Miss you granddaddy!😢🙏💓
75 years? Wow!
Sooo sweet! Pray they have many more years together!
This is amazing
Good for all of them!!!
This was wonderful.
This was adorable! I wish it would have been longer.
