    Sir hi, your seam line on wing root is showing, you forgot to
    putty it ?? but a well made model, congrats.

      @scalemodellingmadness4114  6 років тому +1

      HI Kairasp, the reason the wing root seam is showing is because there was a seam there in the real aircraft. I did putty it to reduce the depth of the seam, but I did not smoothen it over given that it was there in real aircraft :)

    Nice ,looks good.
    What did you use for thinning the Tamiya paints?

    • @scalemodellingmadness4114
      @scalemodellingmadness4114  5 років тому

      Thanks Norbert....I use Tamiya X20A thinner. But previously I used to use a 30/70 mix of isopropyl alcohol and water, which also works, but X20A is better :)

    Could I know what kind of airbrush did you use ? Thank

      Hey Roberto...i use a Harder and Steenbeck Infinity. However, if you are buying one, you don't have to buy such an expensive one. I bought it when I was not really clear about airbrush use and thought that the more expensive the airbrush the better. Such is not really the case. They high end brushes are meant for detail work for artists and guys who paint flaming skulls on the side of motorcycles, etc :) For model making, a nice 0.3 airbrush (say the Neo Iwata) is more than adequate. Hope that help. Good luck :)

      Thanks for your answer very precious your experience. I like how you works. Which is the best diluiution for tamya color ?

      @@ferraro1959 Hey Roberto, for Tamiya acrylics it's best to use their own thinner : Tamiya X-22A Acrylic Paint Thinner. If you cannot get X-22A then you can use a 30% IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) and 70% water solution :)

    How the hell is scale modeling hobby going to continue for the next generation when kits cost a insane amount of money And that's not including paints and accessories. For God's sake it's a little blob of styrene plastic ! I understand that the mold cost money and upkeep but $50 for a 1/48th scale model of A WW2 airplane ? This will keep any young person from getting into the hobby. I think the industry has to make a choice ....perish by charging what they charge or lowering the cost and hopefully young people will get involved with scale model building Because they have competition it's called xbox.

      Hey Harry, actually you do get cheaper kits but it will take a little effort. Like on many forums fellow modellers often off load their kits pretty cheaply. Also, on Hannants, there is a tab for second hand kits, which are also pretty cheap. The thing I do most often is wait for seasonal sales on hobby link japan or hobby easy and buy then. Why don't you give it a try. Only thing is, one has to chose from the models available and you may not find a specific model :) Hope that helps. Btw, if you are part of your local modelling club, often members there too off load their kits dirt cheap.

      Todays modelling is centered around a different demographic and there are many levels of kits. Many companies have starter or basic models in the 7-$10 range, some in the 20-$30 range and then you step up to the 1/48 and 1/32 pro levels like this one. They usually include photo etch and some include resin parts and better decals. I do admit that there are too many extreme cost models and not enough cheaper kits out there. Companies like tamiya need to realize that the chinese model companies can undercut them. Because of this they should sell older models at lower prices and newer ones with higher detail at higher prices.
      As far as glue...its anywhere from 10/gallon for acetone (very old school technique) to 2.99 for testors or even $5 for tamiya extra thin.
      Paint can be bought for as little as $.59 at walmart in the craft section all the way to alclad which is $10 a bottle.
      Clearcoat is $4 a quart if you buy future floor polish or $10-$20 if you buy premium stuff.
      Testors makes airbrush kits that are relatively cheap because they dont require compressors, preval does also. Cheap airbrushed are all over amazon for $60 with a compressor.
      So a kid really can afford to make models, they just need to be resourceful like in the early days when I started. An IPMS box stock category was won last year in regionals and they showed how cheap it was to build it...the guy bought a second hand kit and budget materials to show how you could do it for cheap...his investment was $40 all in for an award winning model. He even brush painted it.

      Kids today want instant gratification. They don't have the attention span to sit down and work on a model on and off for a month before it's completion. A hobby store near me sells RC planes, drones, RC cars , ect. These can cost between 150 to 600 dollars, so modeling is way cheaper for us geezers that don't want to stand in a parking lot and hope I don't crash my 600 dollar RC plane. No worries, as the shop has row after row of replacement parts, tires, batteries, ect, ect.. all more $ for the hobby shop. My served in the British Army 1940-1945. I grew up hearing about Biggin Hill, V1's and V2's, rationing, my grandfather died on September 15th 1940 because he lived in Kent and didn't make it to the shelter in time. Growing up my dad would have a little cry about it every weekend while listening to bagpipes and drums, He even got hold of a 303 Enfield and would march back n forth while my American friends would look on in amazement. I build to remember the greatest generation !

    Chipping is overdone. This looks like 10 years on war, not 4.

      You have experience from WW2 do you? A good sense of how the planes weathered?
