So my dad said to me a couple days ago I wish the Vikings would win one super bowl before I die he's 84 I told him there's a show dedicated to that exact thing a shout out to Frank my father I love you
Sad. Worse 3 drafts in vikes history with little picks this year, half the starters are FA's, no young players, bad coach and gm... DET and GB in the NFC.. RIP. Maybe in 16 years.
The coolest thing about addressing the O-Line and the run game is that they are both mutually assisting each other. You improve the O line and you will get a better run game from any running back.
How many regular season minutes did Kwesi’s draft picks, last 3 years, total this year? Then it would be interesting to compare that total against every other team’s last 3 draft classes. My money is Kwesi is dead last.
Instead of paying 60 million a year for a quarterback the Vikings have to overspend on free agents to plug holes because this team no longer knows how to evaluate and draft !!!!!!!
If we get Past Hampton and Henderson Then Ollie Gordon late in the draft has the best potential in a good situation more than anyone. In his Sophmore year, he was pick as a first round draft pick and statically on par 2023 with Hampton and Jeanty 2024. Dont let the last year cloud the potential talent , OSU coaches and team were all bad, also still consistently good in the red zone
The tag and trade for a 4th round that Mackey suggested doesn’t move the needle for us this year when you can just get a 3rd round comp next year if you let him walk.
The Vikings need to get KOC an extension and JJ McCarthy needs to be a serious contender for the starting QB job in 2025 there should not be any doubt about that and zero money should be spent on Sam Darnold 14 wins or not we all are fully aware of where the 24' Vikings rank in the NFL hierarchy and it's NOT a serious contender we need to improve and that needs to start immediately
Sam darnold optimizes the biggest reason why I dislike the vikings. Gets your hopes up and crashes your dreams. A special place outside of my heart for him and cousins.
I totally agree with Thor on the Sam Darnold take with two caveats: 1) the plan was never to go with Darnold UNLESS the Vikings were in the Super Bowl; and 2) I really didn’t wanna talk about next year because of that fact. I wanted to dream about that Super Bowl unhindered by what that means at the quarterback position. That being said, that’s all Judd wanted to talk about. Us going to the Super Bowl this year was a pipe dream, but it was fun wasn’t it? Why did he have to crap all over it?
Well I wouldn't say he "crapped all over it." But if he did, the reason for it was what we saw the last two weeks of the season. That team wasn't set up to be a high level contender.
Today Thursday January 16th 2025, the season ended Monday Night, Kwesi said JJ is at the facility TODAY working out. That is what i want from my QB, a Diabolically Obsessive Commitment to The Team, Position, and Sport no matter the time of year.
I'm with Thor. I think JJ McCarthy is a stud! Buy two stud Gs and get a decent C. Still have money left for Murphy and another starting CB. Draft DT and RB
Would Like a "underatted but not needed" draft picks episode would be fun Like that Jake Bech from TCU, hes like a Hockenson and Nailer combined since they both have been up and Down this season
We get a couple offensive linemen who can mash and running back with a little more juice, a defensive tackle who can rush and a corner back or two and we should be right back in it next season. JJ McCarthy should be ready to take over with help form KOC
As you guy get happy for running back first round, but we need to building our team like philli having best O-line and D-line. we have to win by line of scrimmage.
Not just "interior OL." All 5 OL need to be addressed. starters and depth should be the goal. O'Neil not the same post knee injuries. (look at all game videos; don't depend on PFF) Darrisaw not likely to be the same OT post rehab. Plan, plan, plan......! Do what you can (Kwesi, KOC) next yr and following yrs if necessary. OL is most underrated, underpaid, unappreciated positions in all of NFL.....especially when you examine the Vikings OL debacle. (this yr; previous yrs too) JJMc will be "dogmeat" (injury? performance?) next yr if OL is not fixed/addressed, not "adequately" but PROFESSIONALLY COMPENTLY. Don't overestimate JJMc over 17 game season is my warning.
Agreed at least on interior OL. Getting almost no starters on the last 3 drafts is a big problem now and for the future, sure you can fill massive holes for a couple of years but sooner or later you need to hit on some draft picks.
The one thing I’d add, with Darnold’s implosion it makes it way easier for JJ to win the locker room even with a bad start. Had Darnold even finished decent but lost in the playoffs, and JJ starts with a few losses next year, much harder to win the guys over.
@ lol we are all football nerds here, and it’s Obvious Thor prides himself on a vast vocabulary. Don’t be mad at me that you don’t know that irregardless isn’t a word
Happy 22nd birthday for JJ McCarthy on Monday! Then Dallas Turner a few weeks after that, plus the cap room with the core players already established... the next few years should at the very least be very entertaining.
I've always had faith that JJ is gonna ball. Guy has all the physical and mental tools. I really believe we are a good off-season away from being a true contender.
Everyone saying JJ McCarthy is unproven is absolutely right, but these are the calculated risks you gotta take if you want a chance at winning the superbowl. The Vikings are doing this right. Once they fix that o-line, this will be the perfect situation for a talented rookie qb. Then you just add a young rb and fix a few holes in the defense with the cap space and boom… you’re cooking with fire
The only thing that changed with Darnold melting down the last 2 games is the value of a tag & trade on Darnold. Had he played well the last 2 games, a tag & trade was clearly possible. Now it might not even be possible.
I agree, pretty much every position has a hole, whether starter or depth; which is probably true for most teams. I hope they spend their 75M wisely on "the meats," and an RB1, otherwise though we may morph into a more efficient passing team, we'll be spinning our wheels.
Internally, it seems like the clock is now tick, tick, ticking, on whether this team is actually going to become something under the KAM & KOC era. We are heading into KAM/KOC 4.0, and KOC apparently has his QB, so let's see what they can do with him, and the 75M cap space. My enthusiasm is curbed, though some of that is a remnant of the trainwreck that the end of this year became, and 50 years of, um, fun. Good times are upon us, and every move they make will be under strict scrutiny. PD's 'bout to get revved up.
Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think you need multiple teams that want to pay Darnold 41 a year. I think you need multiple teams that would guarantee him 60 over the span of the contract he’d sign.

A little movie trivia for you Mackey”He’s not Bonafide”.
Allocate your money to players who decide games at the ends of each half. QBs, WRs, OL, DL and CB. RBs are taken out of games when hurry up O is needed.
If the Vikings plan to draft a QB, bring in the best QB coach available and build the team around him changes because Darnold has one good year out of six years then the people in charge of making that plan should fired. If McCarthy takes a year to blossom then 2026 is the year that Vikings can make a serious run Darnold will still be a QB that wilts under pressure a year from now. Make the offensive line one of the best in the league and improve the defensive line and secondary.
I had to look this up cause I didn’t know. So franchise tagging and trading a guy you’re still on the hook for that money… why would we want to do that. Say u got a 2nd round pick for him. Wouldn’t you rather save the 45-50m and sign a known commodity to a position of need then draft a guy in the 2nd round and no guarantee he’s good? I understand having a young cheap guy with 4 years of control but he could be a bust
I believe if a team trades for a franchised player they take on the salary not the Vikings. And that team would most likely sign him to an extension wiping the tag anyway.
@ yea if they don’t trade him of course. Pretty much whatever team he goes to is footing the bill. Teams usually work out trades prior to the tag to guarantee they get the guy before they hit fa, and a long term contract is worked out before the trade as well.
Aaron Jones needs to leave this stinking ship! No offensive line! No playoffs! JJ McCarty has never played in the NFL yet!!! These are the four stooges of the NFL
McCarthey will have his games of destruction too. He’s a rookie and even if the o line is improved any quarterback can have bad times especially if the guys in front are worn but can play . A big running back can be so bruised by the end of a long schedule that he may not be of much use. It’s the coach who has to know his team to be able. to use other players who are fast or strong or just not used much in the year to carry or catch the ball.
Kaleb Johnson at 24? I'm watching highlights of this kid not getting touched on half his plays. Vikings hardly ever give their RB's that. No thanks. Not at that price anyway.
There are rumors that Kelsey is a weak, play collar and a softy, and they’re saying he will remain the head coach, but he might not be calling the plays no more
Been waiting for this exact episode ever since JJ McCarthy was drafted, Thor's victory parade has begun
indeed
Maybe Thor and you should postpone taking a victory lap until he actually plays a game.

The coolest thing about addressing the O-Line and the run game is that they are both mutually assisting each other. You improve the O line and you will get a better run game from any running back.
Better O-Line for JJ too is huge, he always had a great line in Michigan
Will also give our qb confidence to wait on the throw instead of a sack.
I want to see an O LINE which forklifts everybody within reach 💪🏻

"Precious few holes"? What team was Thor watching? 2 O-Linemen, a DT, 2 Corners, RB are needed at a minimum.
Relative to the rest of the league, that's not that many holes. And I'd argue that they only need one corner with Blackmon coming back.
Also need a new field goal kicker
@ you absolutely do not.

Honestly a rb isn’t needed yet. Get a better oline and jones, Akers are just fine. Need to solidify the interior d line too with a pass rusher.
