QF has always had a GREAT fleet, shame they did not buy the B777. Being a part of a QF family, I'm very fortunate to have flown on all of these aircraft, even back to TAA days in Papua New Guinea - Fokker F27 Remember - TAA? (since merged with QF), The Airbus A300 was a first in Australian aviation. I digress, DJ's aviation has always been a great pleasure to us! Many THANKS!
Nah they won’t get the 777X but they have order a350ks instead which are beautiful and sit well in their fleet. And the 777 would be a great fit instead of the a330 and a380 equivalent but I’m so happy they got a380s so I’m not upset 🙃
@@Plen3716 Yeah you're right, would've thought they could've done both the a350 & 777x, 777x to replace the a380s and the a350s for project sunrise and other routes done by the 787 & a330.
@valluvanthillairajah The 777X would be good for replacing the a380 but fleet commonality was probably very important. Plus you can get 777X pax number more efficiently and flexibly by just flying both an a350 and 787 instead. Don’t get me wrong I love the 777-9 but I think the fleet decision made sense economically plus it gives passengers more time options. They must’ve gotten a good discount and the a350 has been flying well for a while now.
not buying 777 is best decision Qantas ever made. That plane had the shortest life during which it was the "best ever". 747/380/787/350sequence produced better aircraft for longer period.
I see no rivaling with Qantas as far as traveling to and from Ausie as well as other destinations is concerned. The future is bright especially with the introduction of newer and more efficient Aircrafts from Boeing and Airbus. The B777-x is one efficient aircraft!
I honestly don’t thing so as the 777 is massive and would be way to big for smaller domestic routes, I recon the a330 fits better within the domestic network but I could see the 777 used in Asia routed and to NZ like air NZ do with their 777s
The A330 only came onto the domestic routes in the period after 2010. Which equates to my view that it was an international aircraft, but of course as we saw QANTAS often used their 747s on domestic flights when they needed the extra capacity. But where the 777-300 would have shined, again my opinion, was on the 10 hour flight circle. I did hear via industry sources that Qantas did get a very good deal on the 330s leading to the purchase of the 380s.
Nothing on the other aircraft QANTAS has used such as B717, E190, A320 and Dash 8? If an aircraft was used to fly on a route with a QANTAS flight number it should be on the list.
What about a mention of the a220 and a321xlr???

Yes would have loved to see the 777x, might see it in the future.

Ty dj!!
JUMBO.
Hardly a mention of the Qantas plane that I would most like to have flown in, the huge, double story, Short Empire Flying Boat.

Qantas isn’t getting the 777X??
The decision to effectively replace the B767 with A330’s was in my opinion backward as the B777-200 and then 300 would have been better.

@@michaelhayden725 i do remember hearing about that a330/80 deal too
330 is a far superior and more flexible plane than 777
Can you do airfrance?
