I think I'll try the more cautious playstyle and see if I can improve in this ship further. The B hull is absolutely superior to the C hull, and going with C hull is a mistake I see a lot of people make. The extra AA just isn't worth losing two guns and two torpedo launchers. I find the torpedoes in this ship highly situational due to their short range, but when the situation is right, they're very handy. One key difference of the Omaha is, as Flamu says, the gun arrangement. Having guns in casemate like that means that turning doesn't limit your firepower nearly as much as with other ships, and in fact brings fully loaded guns to bear while removing guns that are reloading. I actually think this may be the reason the ship clicks so well with me: I can maneuver to dodge shells and still keep firing. I love this ship. It has obvious weaknesses, such as exploding to a stiff breeze, but played right this ship can absolutely carry a game. It's probably the only ship in the game that I'm capable of carrying games with any consistency, and that's why I love it.

Is it bad that I actually kind of like the Omaha? Even in tier 7 matches, I can deal 50-100k fairly easily. I provide support to the team from a distance since the guns do fire basically straight into the sky which is perfect for islands. Furthermore, I only ever point my bow straight at the enemy or the stern straight at the enemy. Never show your broadside and it works most of the time. Facing straight at your opponent still gives u 5 guns to shoot at the target.

Even without having an Omaha, this is really helpful for someone like me who has always had a bad habit of taking ships like the Königsberg or Kuma way too far forwards; you even did it on my worst map (somehow I always end up stuck behind an island facing a push of at least 3 ships) :P
Well, that is why for CAs its "DO DAMAGE, while not taken damage." If your not doing damage, or re-positioning to be able to do damage, then the fact you hid behind your favorite waifu island and didn't take damage still makes you a potato.
Great vid Flamu and thanks for the upload. I enjoy playing the Omaha, always been a fan of the RL Omaha class cruisers. That said, I'm always looking for tips to play it, the Marblehead and the Murmansk better.
Thank you for this detailed tutorial on the Omaha Flamu, I hope that you do many more mid tier ships, honestly, I prefer to look at other contributors videos because I like their production style better but they concentrate on Tier VIII to X too much, this video content is very important for new players to see and learn from so that they do not get fed up of being blapped and leave the game, I am a fan now, keep it going.
Anyone saying "you shouldn't have parties during COVID!" without knowing the situation in any given country other than the USA really shows how blind they are to ANYWHERE outside of the USA.
My thing about Omaha: Follow USN DD if there is one, load AP and wait for juicy broadside. Then later on, get BLAPPED from God knows where the hell from and from the wonkiest angle because hey, Omaha is the OG of being citadel'd from literally anywhere! But, if you're one of those gifted players who are blessed, load that HE, grab IFHE or DE and start farming, kiting and doing cruiser things :)
Despised this ship when I first played it. Going back to it now recently I actually really enjoy playing it if you use it correctly. Long range guns with better than average ballistics for tier 5. Fast reload on very high fire chance guns that are casemate mounted so good for continuous fire while staying on the move. My go to ship for if I need to farm fire ribbons.
I finished Omaha and got the t6 Cleveland right before the US CL/CA split. Pensacola was painful but at least i got a free t8 and didn’t have to grind both trees.
hey Flamu, any chance you could do a video on the new Kotovsky Kirov replacement? Would be interested in your opinion, it feels quite powerful for a t5 cruiser, but I'd like to hear what you have to say on it.
Do you think they will fix the Omaha's hull choices? Like B is superior to C. They should probably do something where you can keep your main turrets and lose say all your torpedoes to get the AA. Then it would be a bit more useful to go for C.
I am using the VT22 destroyer German. Being T5, I find that many ships from 7km to 8km are able to spot very easily. Yet i thought it says 6.3km. Further more, after slowing down to less than 20kph i pop smoke screen. Drift to a stop whilst turning ish. after 10 seconds has passed and completely stationary. Can ships from over 9km see me in the SS aswel as aircrafts.? I have tried to hunt other whilst in SS and I cant find them. Yet I die every bloody time in smoke screen no matter where i am in the mist. Its always from gun fire never torpedos.
Used to use Omaha to play games with only Tier 7 ships, starting the game with insults from the same team, but finishing the game with the score to be number one on the team by facing some forward, some backwards. Be careful of the sides in the most If you understand and have a good chance It is a boat that cannot be careless.
I have the Marblehead, one of my oldest ships, and it’s still one of my favourites, just use it as a long range HE spammer. Facing bow on also works really well
I think my main issue initially with this ship, other than it's ability to get clapped so quickly, was that when I unlocked it I was like "oooh fucking torpedos awesome!!". With the torp range being so small I was trying to push close to enemies so I could get some torps off but I was getting blapped so hard lol. I'm finally getting enough exp for it to where I can upgrade to the other 2 lines of cruisers at tier VI, I'm just not sure which cruiser line to go with or what the advantages are with each.
I think Omaha can be made to work but it's probably the weakest t5 cruiser (at least Emerald gets heal + smoke and great torps). Island camping is pretty fun in this ship tho
I *like* Omaha. I managed to get enough xp to elite it in about 6 battles. It always has a gun loaded and pointing vaguely towards whatever you want to shoot, turns well, and is fairly fast.
I hated every second of grinding past the Omaha but it did make me a better cruiser player. And yeah when you get people whinging about hiding it's just cause they are mad you wont give them the blap potential.
Hey flamu. Can you show us how to play a lowtier destroyer. I struggl alot with this ships. The one game i play to passiv and got no points the other game i die becaus i play to aggessiv and got no points. Is there a secred to play low tier dd??
Good vid. One big problem for new Omaha players is the ship they just came out of. The Omaha is much faster and less durable (for its tier) than the St Louis. (I don't think players stay at the Phoenix long and accuracy of BB Phoenix faces gives a false security.) After watching what other American cruiser do wrong in their Omahas & Pensacolas while shooting from a BB, I finally figured out how to play my Omaha and Pensacola better. Is the Omaha good. No, buts its how a player uses it that makes it good.
Omaha teach you to dodge shells going in reverse and keep all six of your front guns on target at all times and to stay at max distance to minimize shells hitting you from bbs
With Omaha, i rush to front until i see ships in 17 - 18 km, then i show them my ass and start spamming HE. That's all. Don't broadside never ever. Its a kiting ship (because island cover is irrelevant when you play against 3 dd's and 2 CV's). Fast, reactive, has enough guns even when bowing. I don't like cruisers, but this one was working with my temperament very well: you fake charge into enemies and then run from them while setting on fire everything. And if you get lucky to get some supportive bb next to you then it turns into fun game.
i remembered a while ago, idk how but i got omaha without ever grinding the first few ships of the line, then by some miracle, she became a decent ship as long as you didnt broadside like a dumb fuck and literally ran like the plague and set people on fire while they tried shooting at you
Pretty sure that you lose 2 turrets, but a couple of remaining turrets gets an extra gun... idk if having dual guns is better or not... though. But I could be thinking of another ship... Haven't owned omha in years.

Even without having an Omaha, this is really helpful for someone like me who has always had a bad habit of taking ships like the Königsberg or Kuma way too far forwards; you even did it on my worst map (somehow I always end up stuck behind an island facing a push of at least 3 ships) :P
Brings fond memories, from back when Murmansk was an OP ship :D
I had fun in Omaha, but 4.5 years ago the meta was vastly different.
16:08 until every ships camping and no one gather intels, lol
Well, that is why for CAs its "DO DAMAGE, while not taken damage." If your not doing damage, or re-positioning to be able to do damage, then the fact you hid behind your favorite waifu island and didn't take damage still makes you a potato.
@@nicolivoldkif9096 you know that I write this as a joke, right? Why so serious?
Omaha has a lot of fundamental issues. Namely it exists.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
If you're getting citadelled in Omaha, be sure to angle so they can citadel you through the bow lol
Well done @Flamu - so I’ve been really struggling in my Krazny Krym lately...😆
How much i liked this ship back in the day.. She saw t3 ships though, there was great fun, in maps like Solomon islands
You don't need to change to torpedos, just look at the smoke coming out of the chimney.
I'm so glad I grinded through the omaha back in late 2015/early 2016, I wouldn't like to do it again now!
*Laughs in Oktobrskaya Revolutsiya*
8:05 practically you are a tier V Ibuki: everyone and his mother is like...
MMMMMHHHH... BANAAANAAAA! "
this game was basically best case scenerio for omaha, plenty of island cover and only 2 BB game
I really engoy seeing you play ships like Omata and Huanghe for example. Is very informative for me!
Who needs Omaha when you can get the Murmansk....
I finished Omaha and got the t6 Cleveland right before the US CL/CA split. Pensacola was painful but at least i got a free t8 and didn’t have to grind both trees.
hey Flamu, any chance you could do a video on the new Kotovsky Kirov replacement? Would be interested in your opinion, it feels quite powerful for a t5 cruiser, but I'd like to hear what you have to say on it.
so, how to play cruiser properly is to do damage without taking any damage, thanks for the advise
Any ship without a heal in general.
@@jaywerner8415 Honestly, any ship in general. XD
You can carry with any ship © Flamu. Good luck with Myogi and Mikasa
As I'd like to call it, the omaha is a mini atlanta since it can spam fires easily
Do you think they will fix the Omaha's hull choices? Like B is superior to C. They should probably do something where you can keep your main turrets and lose say all your torpedoes to get the AA. Then it would be a bit more useful to go for C.
You know you are watching too much US politics when you read the title twice, and read it as "How to Obama".
Avoid confrontation, play sneeky breeky.
US navy 1940 releaves halsey of his command and puts in flamu.
US navy 2020 still in pearl habour, shooting over islands
I hated every second of grinding past the Omaha but it did make me a better cruiser player. And yeah when you get people whinging about hiding it's just cause they are mad you wont give them the blap potential.
4 planes shot down? I'm calling hax!
15:30 'you're such a pussy-cat! Come on, fight like a man!'
If you have an IFHE captain just waiting around, put him in Omaha and suddenly she's one of the best T5 damage farmer :D
Also, Omaha dance is a thing.
I loved seeing the shells flying and me unknowingly dodging incoming fire
@andy Carr also, Omaha is the 2nd fastest t5 ca, it's usually easier to dodge anything thrown at you if kept at near max range.
@andy Carr Yah, Marblehead's range is poor.
Onlything better would be the Murmansk, with that spotterplane.
Hey flamu.
Can you show us how to play a lowtier destroyer.
I struggl alot with this ships.
The one game i play to passiv and got no points the other game i die becaus i play to aggessiv and got no points.
Is there a secred to play low tier dd??
at last. the real flamu
omaha is A dd with citadel
That Description would also fit the Tenryu very well
Basically I just play Omaha like a DD with no smokes.
Playing Omaha as a seal cluber is like tying one hand behind your back and wearing an eye patch. I think it’s a fair fight.
cant wait to see more zaos and henris camp behind an island \o/
Do you like being primary target? get in an Omaha!
I'm fundamentally ---- at the game. Awesome.
What’s up with the random peace of thicker armor at the bottom of the bow...what use could that be for?
My most played ship in wowL. Love it
I miss the days back when Omaha was a reasonably tanky powerhouse.
Omaha haha thats been a long time!! Was so happy when I got Cleveland after this and man was it good
Omaha teach you to dodge shells going in reverse and keep all six of your front guns on target at all times and to stay at max distance to minimize shells hitting you from bbs
took me 1 match with 6 kills to breeze through it, not the best ship but definitely not the worst.
If I gave him an old bathtub and a plank for a oar, he would still come out with high damage or win, making it look so easy, now that takes skill.
Flamu could you make a vid sharing your thoughts on the new asymmetrical battle game mode? Much appreciated
I have the record damage of 252k in mumansk which is basically a Russian Omaha. When played properly this ship is a beast...
I remember that I once use Gneisenau and killed Omaha in a single salvo at the start of the battle with spotter planes lol
Instant 23,100 damage
Omaha has a C-hull???
I at least don't remember having to grind 2 hull upgrades.
I'll consider myself lucky.
18:28 When I'm aiming like that I don't get citadel hits, maybe I'm doing something wrong?
I've always really liked this ship. I'd say I had above average success with it.
Fun if you don't go full potato or get blapped unexpectedly.
i remembered a while ago, idk how but i got omaha without ever grinding the first few ships of the line, then by some miracle, she became a decent ship as long as you didnt broadside like a dumb fuck and literally ran like the plague and set people on fire while they tried shooting at you
Finally, I have a reason not to feel guilty playing Moskva kiting plus cross-fire and getting scolded for cAMpInG
Pretty sure that you lose 2 turrets, but a couple of remaining turrets gets an extra gun... idk if having dual guns is better or not... though.
But I could be thinking of another ship... Haven't owned omha in years.
Tue best to grind in omaha is shoot 1 by 1 the cannons and then press reverse and then shoot tue cannon 1 by 1 and then accelerate your ship
