We start today's vlog in the beautiful Porlock Weir, Devon, England. We're not sure if we're biting off more than we can chew, but we're embarking upon the allegedly 'challenging' Culbone Church and the Fairytale Tunnels walk.

IB = Invisible Boyfriend. He's my boyfriend. He's real, but he's camera shy so you never see him in the vlogs though you will hear him. He is heard but not seen.

Imo is a flautist/flutist (flute player), and these vlogs will often take you behind the scenes of the life of a professional folk musician. Stand by for bits and bobs of live folk music and dance as they pop up in our day-to-day lives.
These videos will not generally feature recorded background music, making them extra suitable for people who aren't keen on pop music!
Follow this channel for daily-life vlogs (6 days a week, usually), content relating to the flute, travel (particularly to Lisbon, Portugal), folk musician lifestyle, and to see what life is like for this little family in our corner of South Wales in the UK.

Beautiful scenery IB has a very calming Voice
I used to take a little side walk to see the ruin of a house Lord Byron built for his daughters. There was a a semi-functional large Italian water garden there, and the tunnels from the house to the sea were blocked off. I often visited a friend who owned a tea shop at Porlock Weir. In spring and early summer, the rhododendrons were prolific along the trails. The moors have their own charms. I lived there for three months and made friends who showed me around. I was lucky!
You just never know when the urge to take a nice relaxing bath will hit you in the middle of a hike :)
That’s true! We could have both done with soaking those aching muscles 😆
Some years back I (an American) stayed in this area for three months while studying horse riding. I loved the area so much I nearly stayed forever. I walked to the church frequently and enjoyed the international visitors at Sunday afternoon services. A potter was the curator. One day she suggested I ride a horse over and she would open up the stables for me to use for the horse. However, she suggested that it had not been opened for many years and maybe I should check to be sure there were no ghost horses there that could scare my horse.
This was a lovely vlog. That hike looks like fun. We hike here in the mountains several times a week. But we never run into a 1500 year old church. The hairpins in the trail are called switchbacks here. Exmoor looks like a nice place to visit. Thanks
What a great walk, loved the church, it was tiny and the history was interesting too, thanks IB for reading it for us :o)
What a fascinating place to walk too, Culbone church was beautiful, thanks for taking us along with you.x
I always wondered about thatched roof and fire. IBs cake with jam really looked lush. That's a very scenic walk. The church with no electricity and tunnels are some of my favorite things. What a nice getaway.
Aw thank you Karen. I'm glad you enjoyed those parts :)
Another terrific hike! And at the end is a beautiful little church
Imo, wonderful vlog. Loved it and a beautiful walk. IB has a wonderful voice, he sounds similar to Michael Gambon when he plays Dumbledore.. Thank you 🌹

I shall pass that on!
108lk. outstanding ❤️❤️
Looks like the cottage fire happened on May 1st. Cause was a chimney fire that spread to the thatch.
Thanks for looking that up. I’m guessing the thatch could be prone to that then? I was wondering if modern thatch might be treated with something fire retardant. Thanks, Dabe.
@@PlanetImo It's an option - but I bet it's not compulsory. Probably one of those things where you don't consider it until the worst has happened especially if it's pricey.
Yes! I know what you mean.
Yes the first fire engine went past our house just after 7pm and continued throughout the night. Twenty fire stations were involved altogether. Two cottages more or less destroyed but luckily the next two cottages weren’t thatched so it didn’t spread along the whole row. Thankfully nobody was hurt but the thatch was still smouldering at midday the next day.
😯 wow! Thanks for the info.
Sweet church wonder if it's still in use?
I think so, yes. :)
Nice This Is Brill
