    There has never been anyone cooler than Brian Jones, he was way ahead of his time & should never be forgotten. Too much airbrushing of Brian from Stones history for my liking. No Jones,no Stones.

      Brian Jones was a multi instrumentalist, he played Brass Section, Oboe, Organ, Dulcimer, Mellotron,
      Slide guitar, Harmonica, Recorder, Sitar, Marimba, Saxophone, Percussions, Keyboards, and harpsichord.
      Paul McCartney invited Brian to play saxophone on Baby You Know My Name. He brought Moroccan music to
      the attention of the rock world, he recorded the Brian Jones Presents the Pipes of Pan at Joujouka, in
      Morocco. Bill Wyman stated in his book Stone Alone that they were trying to wipe, Brian from the band,
      and said he won’t let that happen. Bill also points out in his book that Brian started the band , picked the name
      for the band and hand picked the members. Brian had more talent than the other 4 original members put together.

    • @vickies8478
      @vickies8478 8 років тому +7

      To say that Brian was the most troubled is an under statement .. stemming back since childhood .. by not only under minding his parents ... to taking menial jobs around his home town only to be fired from for theft and time issues .. to being both physically and mentally abusive to his girl friends ... and had been deemed being combative and disrespectful to authority figures .. Although Brian was said to be a bright youngster he seemed to have many problems ... according to Life Magazine and Treasures Of The Rolling Stones .

    Brian absolutely spices up this song into the stratosphere. And the crowd lets him know it.
    Ed Sullivan's ratings went thru the roof when he had rock and rollers on his show so Dean and the others did the same thing and it also boosted their ratings as well.

    Lewis Jones AKA Brian Jones: 2/28/42
    - English musician, producer, and songwriter who, in 1962, brought together the musicians and acted as the original bandleader of the Rolling Stones. Jones provided lead guitar, harmonica, keyboards, and backing vocals to the group, in addition to nearly a dozen other musical instruments. Though he was the early driving force behind the songs played and direction of the Stones’ music, he became alienated from his bandmates and fell into substance abuse. He was asked to leave the band in June of 1968, a month after which he was tragically found dead in his swimming pool.

    A purely revealing moment in the band's early history. Here we see them utterly engrossed in musically delivering a performance on the unforgiving medium of live television, without the distractions or actions or add-ons that I feel sometimes muddle their pure musical abilities on stage. Look how each is focused on their role in the band, both as individuals and as a group. Powerful. As for Brian, his stage presence, like his musical talent, is undeniable. Complete. And sadly missed in the band's history after his death. What a loss! For me though, what I find especially noteworthy is how the band would survive and grow without him there to help keep them together. A mark of true resiliency.

    Brian Jones was forced by the other members to quit the group during the recordings of the album Let It Bleed. Upon a visit by Mick, Keith and Charlie Watts in 1969 Jones received the message that he was no longer desirable in the group. A couple of weeks later he murdered in his own swimming pool at Cotchford Farm. He is thus counted as the first member of the so-called 27 Club, composed of famous musicians who passed away at the age of 27

    To explain to those too young to remember Dean Martin and his television program: Dean's image was being a jovial drunk. You had to be around then to understand Dean's supposed image and that introduction. Surely the Stones knew his image. In reality, Dean wasn't much of a drinker at all, certainly not anything approaching an alcoholic, and was a very shy, very private man. He drank apple juice onstage on his television show. He was cold sober pretending to be inebriated. He was a genuinely good person. I also didn't notice anything untoward Martin by the Stones. From the beginning they were the consummate professionals. I think people need to quit making stuff up about Brian flipping Dean Martin off. It didn't happen. Unlike the Ed Sullivan Show for most of its years, Dean Martin's program was not live but prerecorded. Had Jones done what some of you wishful thinkers thought he did, the clip would not have survived the censors.

    I only like the Stones with Jones. They are very ordinary without him. He can play anything. He can (basically) master an instrument in two weeks. As a musician, his timing is his strength; he is a better time keeper than any drummer. I believe Keith was jealous; and of course, Brian was a 'real' drug addict, just not recreational. But, when removed, the music suffered.

    This performance shows how much better Brian was on harp than Jagger -Killer Chromatic Harp solo by the greatest Rock Star of all time-Brian Jones!

      That stage just wasn't big enough for Mick and Brian for some reason. I bet the industry wanted to promote Mick. I heard Brian was pushed out of his own band.

    Only downside of the rise of rock ‘n’ roll music was also the decline in popularity of the accordion... but Rest In Peace, Brian Jones, Charlie Watts, and Ian Stewart.

    Mick looked so prissy and determined in those early days. He looks like he would sell his soul to the devil to become iconic and everlasting. And he did.

      Quite possibly looking at the control booth. Not a good vibe during that show. I was wondering why the audience laughed twice and I think they were laughing at Mick's leg movements around 1:23 and 2:02.

    It must have been sheer agony to have been a member of the older generation in the 1960s. Martin's type was already on its way out

  • @ToyKingWonder
    @ToyKingWonder 9 років тому +16

    I don't agree that Dean was being mean to them, or bitter. Heck, he was on TV for years after this. He was always flippant and would try to be funny, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't work. The Stones looked to me to be really focused for a big TV audience (Martin's show was widely viewed) and seriously, Brian Jones flipping him off? That was how he held his harmonica. The idea of anything else is really stretching it. The Stones were a new sensation and a new kind of cool, a completely different kind of cool than Martin's. Some of the variety show hosts had a little challenge interfacing with them, but that to me was always part of the charm, two worlds crashing together but having fun doing it.

      +steve conn "Satisfaction", indeed ! Not sure if it had been released at that poiint, since it was the number one song of 1965, and this TV show could have been taped in 1964, during the Stones first or second US tour. Anyway, "Not Fade Away" was one of their first two or three hits in the UK, before they amassed their own humongous catalog and didn't need to cover Buddy Holly. And Brian probably is giving the finga, since it appears that he usually keeps it folded with the others !??
