As a liverpool fan, the problem isn’t getting the best manager available. It’s about getting the correct manager available. Marks talking about how ‘we’re Manchester United’ therefore they should attract ancelloti or pep or nagelsman, but are they the managers that utd need right now?

LFC went through all of this. It is a vicious circle... drop down so cant attract the players so cant get up again. LFC did use our history but after a few years of non success playerz just dont care. Managers are a bit different. They are older and remember the history... LFC when we were down and now MU... managers will remember Man U as the dominant club they were. You can attract a top manager and that is the only way you will get up again. We attracted Rafa, who had just won La Liga and he had a huge reputation in Spain. He was able to attract olayers who believed in him if not in LFC and we got some great Spanish players jnto the team and won Champions League, thus just about keeping us up as a destination team. But mainly we scrabbled around for players, lost mkney and were inconsistent. I cant see any top player wanting to go to Man U now because it is Man U, who are right now a lower level team and a a watchword for confusion and poor management. BUT if you had a top, top, charismatic manager who players believed could make them better and win things, you might get back up.

Man Utd should focus on the style of play more than the result at this point. Get someone like Ange. Someone with a very clear attacking style of play. Highly recommend McKenna or Iraola.

Haaland is definitely the best #9 in the pl, but not sure he’s the best ever. There are strong arguments for guys like Shearer and Owen and how many goals they’d get if they were playing in this Man City team. Suarez is another. Haaland doesn’t even come close in all round ability. Suarez is one of the best strikers ever, not just in the PL. The other issues he’s had should not detract from his ability.
I’m not saying erling is better, but I’d argue he would benefit from a different system just as much as the other would benefit playing at city.
