FACTS: FOR SURE!! I don't think there's any other HUMAN that could DO Hendrix JUSTICE - but, I was SO IMPRESSED when I first heard his covers of Jimi's music! IN AWE!!! MAD RESPECT!!!
The guitar recovered nicely after a few days in hospital. Take a look at Jimi at the Monterey Pop Festival. He treated his even worse. I'm convinced Jimi did this originally so he would have one song no one could ever cover. Along came SRV....
Actually & Factually Jimi stole destroying his guitar from Pete Townsend who picked up (Bit?!!) that performance art from a German visual artist who Pete mentioned that dude sawing a Cello in half, the famous story of an argument Pete & Jimi had at the '67 Monterey Pop Festival who would follow who onstage, it was decided by a coin flip & the Who went on before the Experience & Pete & Mooney did their schpeel destroying their equipment ( near in mind this is the Who & the Experience's live American debut) Jimi said to Pete before the Who went on " I am going to put off all the stops when I go on!!!" & Jimi did indeed outdone Mooney & Pete
You guys MADE MY DAY reacting to this! If you look closely you can see the spirit of JIMI enter his body at the beginning of the song ❗️ I got goosebumps watching you guys watch him, thanks for remembering me on THIS ONE👍👍
Great great reaction gentleman. Cannot go wrong with anything by Stevie. There is a reason why he is one of the 🐐🐐🐐thank you for what you do for the AirPlay family.
I saw him that weekend in Toronto at Varsity Arena with DireStraits. He played the Toronto barThe Elmocambo the next night, and that's the video you watched.
He was the closest guitarist to be able to do covers of Jimi. It was to bad that he was killed in a helicopter crash after leaving a show in 1990. Years before that he lost his way with drugs and alcohol and did a total rebound. His life had gotten better. RIP SRV.
The one smart thing I did in my youth is whenever someone had an extra ticket to a show, if I was a fan or not, I went. I was never a big Led Zeppelin fan but my buddy had an extra ticket to see Robert Plant on the Now and Zen tour. I went. To my surprise Stevie Ray Vaughan was the opening act. What a great double act to see live. At the end of that summer Stevie Ray died in the helicopter crash.
If you try to explain being one with your instrument and the person doesn't understand just hit play on this video and SRV will take care of it for you! The man was not of this world and I think that's why they took him from us far to soon...RIP SRV.
I'm a pretty die hard Hendrix fan. I love that Stevie Ray honored Jimi's legacy and genius by covering some of his best stuff. At the same time, I can't emphasize enough how much I hope that you listen to the originals. They're better. Stevie Ray plays the hell out of his guitar but doesn't have Jimi's flair. I'm not saying you have to react to Hendrix versions since it seems they're hard to post here, but at least listen to them on your own time.
Yep, awesome cover to say the least. If you have not heard the Hendrix original, you should. Amongst the very best rock guitarists, these guys had magic fingers. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎶
@Blue Third Stone From the Sun was from Jimi Hendrix's ARE YOU EXPERIENCED studio album. Stevie's live cover at El Mocambo was played his own way, but it was very true to the spirit of Jimi's song. Definitely listen to JH's cut. You'll love it.
As a musician, you bring it and leave it on the stage. That's the lesson I learned when I saw him or Prince or any other legend I've been blessed to see perform. It's also the reason I judge music based on performance and not records. Keep it going gentlemen, appreciate it.
I love your reactions to the music that has been the soundtrack to my life and times. This one is a beautiful example of one GOAT (SRV) paying homage to the OG (Jimi). Here's an interesting little tidbit. Notice where the "whammy bar" is attached to the bridge plate. It's at the top, closest to the low E string. The default location is the bottom of the bridge plate nearest to the high E string. However if a right hand guitar is turned upside down to play left handed, the whammy bar is on the top, exactly as Hendrix did. Subtle thing, that. But it speaks volumes about the influence of Jimi Hendrix. Tioraidh an-drasta 🏴
That was actually very much just how Jimi played it. Jimi's album version is a trippy sci-fi thing, with voices and echoes, so it comes over a bit different.
Every time there's a SRV reaction I always request this one. I guess they think well it's not a hit so I won't do it... Great reaction guys, thanks !!!
If you don't know how he is doing it : By turning the amp and guitar up, you can generate feedback notes and manipulate them without strumming the guitar by altering the distance and angle between the guitar and amp. (The sound waves from the amp make the guitar strings vibrate at a relative frequency). Then you can also play with the feedback notes with the whammy bar and pickup selector. Jimi would sometimes get a note going by tapping on the back of his headstock. SRV here was inspired by the original Hendrix version of this song. Also see "EXP" at the beginning of the Axis Bold As Love album, and others where it sounded like he was making motorcycle noises with his guitar. There is an album with a live 1969 Hendrix performance where they just call it "Smashing of Amps", which sounds a lot like what Terry Kath of Chicago did later on his "Free Form Guitar". These days people like Steve Vai will use the same concepts when they generate a continuous feedback note, and change the pitch of the note by just turning their body in a different direction, or taking a step towards the amp.
I like the Hendrix version.....Lyrics; Although your world wonders me With your majestic and superior cackling hen Your people I do not understand So to you I shall put an end And you'll Never hear Surf music again
Cover of a Hendrix original from his first album. The original's pretty influential, so melodic but totally new psychedelic guitar pyro too (and some weird references about chickens by aliens). Trower song Twice Removed from Yesterday is very Third Stone influenced. You guys should do an album review for Are You Experienced, well worth it, crazy loaded album with great songs. What can you say about SRV? a virtuoso, great soul and great style.
Stevie readily admitted in an interview that he modeled his playing after Jimi and, as good a guitarist as SRV is, he would be the first to admit that Jimi was, is and aleays will be THE MAN.
Stevie was too modest of a man to say he was the greatest. But many of us believe he was. Much has been said about Stevie idolizing Hendrix---and Albert King as well. Stevie fused these two---and a whole lot of Texas---into his playing, and created a sound like nobody else. Please remember to take into account that Stevie played a guitar with unbelievably heavy-gauged strings and high action. His sheer physicality was quite extraordinary. There were other great guitarists who tried to play Stevie's instrument and said they couldn't bend those strings to save their lives. Yet Stevie was able to manhandle them and play with masterful precision. This particular number isn't my favorite cover by Stevie, but it sure is entertaining! Anyway, for me, SRV will always be number one.
So my wife and I are running errands one day in the late 80s and SRV comes on the radio. I crank it and when it's over, she asks "Who's that?" SRV I answer. She says "OH! I won tickets from the radio station to see him. Forget to tell you." Oh, when did you win them? "About a week ago" Concert was the next night and I was 3 to 11, no chance of changing on short notice. And he was dead within a couple years and I never got the chance to see him again. That's what I get for marrying a country/pop fan and not a blues fan.... lol
I do feel like Double Trouble doesn't nearly get the justice they deserve, when Stevie put a band together in 1977 called The Triple Threat Reuve the drummer Chris Layton joined on September 10,1978 and when Stevie changed the name to Double Trouble in 1980 basses Tommy Shannon joined Double Trouble, Tommy Shannon and Stevie were friends when Stevie and Tommy joined a band called Krackerjack when Stevie was still in school, Chris and Tommy were with Stevie until his death on August 27,1990. Anyway I watched a interview with Chris and Tommy and they said Stevie never used a play list because Stevie said he didn't know what or how he was going to play until he actually got on stage so that alone tells you how amazing Double Trouble was, it was like all 3 of them were in each other's head and knew exactly what they were going to do without missing a beat. Like this song and all the crazy stuff the GOAT OF ALL GOAT'S was doing and it was perfect. I know I'm going to get haters but imo Stevie Ray Vaughan could play Hendrix songs better then Hendrix (place slap here) OUCH!!!
He covers Hendrix like this and does it justice. Enough said.
Takes BALLS to cover Hendrix yet he nails it.
@@RazzleDazz72 it’s a tough assignment.
FACTS: FOR SURE!! I don't think there's any other HUMAN that could DO Hendrix JUSTICE - but, I was SO IMPRESSED when I first heard his covers of Jimi's music! IN AWE!!! MAD RESPECT!!!
This one, of all his covers of Jimi take huge balls. This is a crazy song on itself. To try it and to make it good is crazy in all aspects.
Hendrix was his hero and a huge influence in his music style..!
Second generation GOAT. Never be another SRV. Dude was other worldly
NEVER!!!
Only man in history who could do any Hendrix track & not only honor it perfectly, but also add to and improve it. #Legend
When Stevie does Jimi he always does Jimi (and his fans) proud
Another excellent cover of Hendrix!
Brother was built different.
The only guy ever who could play Jimi's music right.
One of my favorite Hendrix songs of all time!!
He's beating the S#!T out of probably the most valuable guitar on the planet!
Damn best player ever!
Hahaha Yeah he did and it probably is.
Like what i did as a kid putting Gretzky’s Rookie card on the spokes of my bmx for effect.
David Gilmore Black Fender
The greatest bluesman of all time doing a little psychedelia!
All hail Jimi. Changed the world with his guitar.
The guitar recovered nicely after a few days in hospital. Take a look at Jimi at the Monterey Pop Festival. He treated his even worse.
I'm convinced Jimi did this originally so he would have one song no one could ever cover. Along came SRV....

Stevie does Jimi......can't be beat!

I got goosebumps watching you guys watch him, thanks for remembering me on THIS ONE👍👍
Controlled chaos.
My boy was on another planet.
You just know that Stevie's guitar tech, Rene Martinez, has covered his eyes🎸😂 and held his breath.
Hendrix song from the Are You Experienced LP
Anything SRV!!!
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 The goatiest goat in all of goatness
A-f'ing-men!
guys , listen to original version by Hendrix. It's absolutely beautiful.
What can you say about SRV? He was just on another level. You knew it when you heard and saw it.
This is SRVs tribute to Jimi. He did what Jimi did.
Another brilliant Hendrix composition! Jimi was The Prophet and SRV one of his disciples.
Great great reaction gentleman. Cannot go wrong with anything by Stevie. There is a reason why he is one of the 🐐🐐🐐thank you for what you do for the AirPlay family.

He and Jimi are jamming often up there, I'm sure of it.
Stevie was great
The one smart thing I did in my youth is whenever someone had an extra ticket to a show, if I was a fan or not, I went. Never seen this one before. Very interesting.
Thank you.
Pretty damn cool! Stevie shows huge respect for Jimi.
Today is my 70th Birthday, I bought the Jimi "AreYou Experienced" album when it was released with the original of this.
3.29.24. “Iconic Performance”🤌🏼
Love to see younger people appreciating Stevie Ray
If it’s not blocked, you guys NEED to hear the Hendrix version, Third Stone From the Sun off Are You Experienced. It’s a trip.
Now that was plain cool. Never heard them do this Ms SRV was just on a different plain then most other guitarist. Damn. !
SRV is more than a master guitarist he's a master of electricity.
❤❤❤
🙏❤🌹 Stevie 🌹❤🙏
Ahh yeah 🔥🌎…….🌞cool stuff right there!✨❤
Yet another killer Hendrix cover by SRV. There's a reason that this guitar looks as best up as it does. Yet, he loved that guitar.
Yes, Jimmy did a studio version of this song. I wore out my album and my needle on my turn table.😂🔥🔥😎
Me too, Soul to Soul cassette then a cd!!! 😂❤
THAT is how you cover Jimi Hendrix
If you try to explain being one with your instrument and the person doesn't understand just hit play on this video and SRV will take care of it for you! The man was not of this world and I think that's why they took him from us far to soon...RIP SRV.

THANK Y0U, I AGREE FUIIY!!
This song shows it best. It's acid versus coke. Coke put up a great fight, but acid takes the win here.
Super!🕺
Yep, awesome cover to say the least. If you have not heard the Hendrix original, you should. Amongst the very best rock guitarists, these guys had magic fingers. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎶
Magician not a musician “. Couldn’t have said it better!
Psychedelic rock for sure guys
Love my Stevie!
Yeeeesss, Stevie smashing it!
SRV is a culture.
I was so excited to see y’all back with SRV❤️❤️❤️
Performance art
Hendrix was brilliant! I like how SRV emulates him and plays some incredible stuff, but Jimi’s innovative sound and style can’t be duplicated.
Jeff...Jimi...Stevie...whammy wizards...
YES !!!
Ride that guitar feedback -
Jimi would be proud !!!
@Blue
Third Stone From the Sun
was from Jimi Hendrix's
ARE YOU EXPERIENCED studio album.
Stevie's live cover at El Mocambo was played his own way, but it was very true to the spirit of Jimi's song. Definitely listen to JH's cut.
You'll love it.
Bad Company - Live for the Music
Check out Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jeff Beck doing "Goin Down" live. Mind blowing !!!
As a musician, you bring it and leave it on the stage. That's the lesson I learned when I saw him or Prince or any other legend I've been blessed to see perform. It's also the reason I judge music based on performance and not records. Keep it going gentlemen, appreciate it.
Saw him in a little club in New Jersey in 1987. Had to drag my friends. He was amazing.
that was you ?
The amazing thing is that they keep putting it back together😊😊😊😊
None better....truly a legend
I love your reactions to the music that has been the soundtrack to my life and times. This one is a beautiful example of one GOAT (SRV) paying homage to the OG (Jimi).

Only SRV can do a Hendrix cover some Justice. Many have tried but none have succeeded, only Stevie can channel that extra magic.
SRV unhinged
Live at the Mocombo
That was actually very much just how Jimi played it. Jimi's album version is a trippy sci-fi thing, with voices and echoes, so it comes over a bit different.
One of my favorite Hendrix songs!!!!! React to Jimi’s , too. It’s mellower. ❤😊
Earth is the third stone from the sun.
Every time there's a SRV reaction I always request this one. I guess they think well it's not a hit so I won't do it... Great reaction guys, thanks !!!
To quote one of the best interviews ever
“Cocaines a helluva drug”
I would first listend to the original.
I believe that is a sample of a stanley clark song called lousy lu... Check out jeff beck and stanley clark play it live.. What a jam!!!

Lol I busted my ass laughing when I saw this thumbnail... You guys are always talking about his tricks... I knew you'd find this sooner or later 👍👍👍👍
Chirs is going off on the🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
Great band, too.
I’m not aware of anyone else who can cover Jimi like SRV.
He's like a Mad Scientist
Thank you, Jimi Hendrix.
🐐🎸🔥😍😢
It’s all about the Blues baby 🤘🤘
❤definitely a Jimi song
I realize this was Jimi Hendrix's song, and SRV nailed it, but I heard a bit of Buddy Miles' "Them Changes" in there, too.
“Who starts a song like this?”
Aliens!!!
👽👽👽
😂
SRV never covered this in the studio but it's a JIMI original about the earth heading into the sun👈
He was definitely channeling Jimi in the performance
Now check out Jimi's version from 67
Are you guys ever going to finish reacting to Eat a Peach by the Allman Brothers…?
I’ve been waiting forever for your reaction to Mountain Jam
That's how you end a song.🙃🙃🤪🤪🙃🙃🤪🤪
I like the Hendrix version.....Lyrics; Although your world wonders me
With your majestic and superior cackling hen
Your people I do not understand
So to you I shall put an end
And you'll
Never hear
Surf music again

Other worldly.... Who else feels sorry for Old Number 1?
A great keyboard performance like this is Emerson Lake and Palmer performing Blue Rondo…
That's some pure jimi voodoo shaman ceremonial trippy shit~

A great tribute to Hendricks! Both Guitar Gods !!
Hendrix
Truly awesome! Need to do Jimi’s original please!!
