What to do or what not to do with your amaryllis bulbs after they finish flowering. Is it good to leave the dry flowers and wait for seeds or is it better to cut amaryllis flowers. Why? I explain both cases, advantages and disadvantages.

Got one for Christmas and planted it, I got 5 beautiful leaves and no flower stalk yet, but now I got a yellowing leaf! Do I cut that 1 leaf, do I abandon the flowering process and just cut it all back and stop growing it and put it in to dormancy? I'm so lost with this one lol any vids to help?
Hi Melissa. I have a whole playlist about this plant ua-cam.com/video/_tZw0u8FTQ0/v-deo.html. It really depends in which season you planted it and in which conditions it grew. The bulb shall be mature so that it can bloom. If it was a mature bulb, maybe in the previous dormancy, the bulb was not preserved in proper (cooler) temperatures. If the leaves are green, I would not cut them yet. You can grow it normally till September. Then slowly expose it to cooler temperatures. The leaves will turn yellow. At this point, you can cut the leaves and keep the bulb in dark, dry and cooler place till November. And plant in November. It shall flower for Christmas.
Mine got 12flower in 1stolck but it doesnt open all at once 3 open every other day so i cut the dry one
Wow, 12 on one flower spike?! That's amazing. One of mine had 10 once, but 2 smaller buds didn't even open, but got dry. I guess there were not enough nutrients. Which variety is yours? 🌸

Yes, but I have even bigger. There is a picture of Alfresco on UA-cam Community. It had 5 flower spikes and 30+ flowers. It was amazing
