Thanks, Requiem. I love this plane - it flies sweet and you get a gunner to let you know bad stuff is happening behind you, without the speed penalty the can-opener field mod gives you in the 1941 and 1942. (Would be nice if Ivan in back would tell you where the bandit is coming in from. But when you showed him the clock on the dash panel this morning it was the first time he had ever seen a clock. So don't blame it on him if he can't tell you.) Transitioning to the PE-2 on multiplayer, a bit reluctantly. The dorsal 12.5 mm MG actually does something - Ivan got his first kill during an enemy airfield attack recently. So Ivan is OK. Peshka is also a nice plane, and carries a few more bombs. . .
Old_Guard haha, the Ivan can’t read a clock part killed me. Considering that Ivan “willingly enlisted” from the criminals and that Ivan dies 4 time more frequently than the pilot does, I think we can excuse him for the underwhelming knowledge of his job ;)
Hello, thank you very much for all your tutorials. But....so far I did not found some "how-to-IL-2-gunsight" :) Could you explain all those lines? So far I flew only german planes and I'm new to the bolsh...ahem...red side
I'm up to mission 7 in the Sea Dragons Campaign, with the IL-2 1943 model, and bombing and rocket attacks are where I could really do with one of your amazing tutorials. As this isn't vertical dive bombing, it's really hard to know when to release the bombs.. So much time spent flying to the dropzone and then missing.. rinse and repeat.. would love your guidance!
I don't have tutorials on those yet, but there is a good explanation from the developers in how to use the rockets and the bomb markings for the IL-2 1943 in Dev Diary #154forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/168-developer-diary/?page=4&tab=comments#comment-456219
That's almost exactly the kind of tutorial that I was looking for. Technical but I will muddle my way through it. Practice seems to be the best way forward at the moment, thanks for the link.
I appreciate that it's just I was interested as to why it was actually called 'rotate' is all. If there was any particular reason? Y'know, 'pull back' or something seems to say it more figuratively...
At 07:39, you have power set to 6 mmHg. I need to almost cut the power fully to even start losing speed and then pull a sharp turn on final to bleed enough to get to gear down speed. What am I doing wrong? Am I approaching too fast? I try not to drop gear before 250 km/h and flaps at 220 km/h. Thank you.
You probably are coming in a little fast, but cutting the power back until you get below gear extension speed is perfectly fine when your airspeed is too high as long as you remember to bring the power back once you start extending gear/flaps. If you're doing over 300 km/hr and just reduce power to 600mmHg you won't necessarily slow below 250 km/hr fast enough which is why you would need to bleed off the extra speed as you mentioned doing.
Thanks for your help. Compared to other sims and IL2 aircraft, I love how this plane flies. She reacts very naturally to power input and pitch and trim, reminds me of my training in the Katana, allbeit with a huge engine, a lot more metal and a gunner behind me.
Thanks to your tips, I've got the reducing speed part down to an art.. i was waiting too late to lose speed on the approach.. Now I'm already down to 5-6000 mmHg a mile or two out from base..
Does the cockpit instruments of IL-2 Sturmovik such as altimeter, oil and water temperature show somehow realistic numbers correspond to airplane situation at least to certain degree?
@@RequiemsACTL thank you. Does better joystick such as Thrustmaster T16000M gives you significant different experience comparing to cheaper joystick such as T.Flight Hotas X?
Yeah Luxi that sight is a bit different but once you get used to it it's ok. You can use it for firing rockets as well but it's not as accurate as I'd like it to be in that respect.
Do you know what the second 'trim' handle is for on the right hand side? I cannot make it move and was wondering if it might be aileron or rudder trim?
There's no hard and fast rule to get a perfect % wise as it varies between airplanes and environmental conditions. If you use 100% on startup, just bring it back to 80-90% and you'll be fine generally speaking.
Real IL-2 instruction says - vertical position of mixture gear for takeOff. And during real tutorial video I didn't notice it was changed. In IL-2 Sturmovik aviasim it corresponds to 50%. Works well for me in situations: TakeOff, combat at low altitudes, Landing. I will play with it more just out of curiosity. ua-cam.com/video/jga9v1RUVQg/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/KF1jCM8oIwU/v-deo.html

Nice job, as always! One thing about the flaps: they can be extended to a 50% setting for takeoffs by pressing and holding the Flaps Down key.
Thanks for the corrected info Luke! I wasn't aware you could do that.

Hi Requiem, do you plan to create tutorial for Il 2 Mosquito, too?
Does things and procedures here apply to older versions of IL-2 as well?
I don't see why not. I try and base how I fly these off the real manuals where available.

No worries. I want to do a video on it but it's a low priority as I'm focusing on BFM stuff right now.
BFM? Don't worry about a bombing tutorial as I figured out a way to bomb with accuracy at 100m thanks to that link that you posted.
Yet another gem! Why is it called 'rotate', by the way?
When we "rotate" this is the action of pulling back on the stick/yoke to lift the airplane off terra firma and flying into the great blue yonder!
I appreciate that it's just I was interested as to why it was actually called 'rotate' is all. If there was any particular reason? Y'know, 'pull back' or something seems to say it more figuratively...

It does model it. If for example you end up allowing engine temperatures to get out of limits you'll risk engine damage

@@moneyeye24 Not sure really. The more you pay the better the quality of stick in terms of precision and how long its going to last

It's my favorite il2 variant, the only thing that bugs me is the annoying gunsight

Hey Skipper, that handle is the emergency extension for the landing gear in case it wouldn't work normally (no function in-game though).
what causes the plane to slow and crash in a quick mission?
My guess that it could be overheating of the engine.
Any chance you would know someone who has the serial keys so I can play my old PC games I lost it thank you
