I just got this in the version 2, because the short hands on this version was a deal-breaker for me. . I'm so happy that PD decided to make this homage, because I've always loved the Longines Spirit, but I think it's way overpriced. Also loved that they went with just the logo, and I hope they do that on every PD going forward. This watch is worth every penny and more!

My pagani design Tudor BB chrono came today, they've changed the case back to the normal style associated with Pg.
Very impressed with it and this longines homage looks amazing too.

I just looked at the Longines Spirit about an hour ago. Great timing! This PD homage is really done well except for no date window at the 3 o'clock position, it's very close to a dead ringer. I love that color blue! All the straps you showed looked outstanding, Steve. I really liked the blue silicone strap especially. Another excellent review!

No date window was a good choice. Made the dial much cleaner. If they want a date window, it would be better to be placed at 6 instead of 3 just like the Genuine Longines Spirit 37. Besides, Longines also has a model with no date window in Titanium.

Very pretty watch! Looking forward to the V2
I really like the narrow bezel. Even at 38mm, it looks smaller than the Phylida BB36 (with that sloped rehault). I wish PD would take their time with the V2. Not just 2mm extra on the hands, but also some anti-reflective coating and possibly a movement swap to the NH38. Maybe I'll need to wait for a V3. This probably won't get purchased until the next AliX sale though.
Been needing a white dial in the collection and this might just do the trick! Love the proportions, the hands look sort of funny so looking forward to V2. Might need to pick it up…
The textured white look killer
Mine just arrived today. The 38mm size is really just th right "in between" size for me. Chose the green and love the way different light makes the face appear lighter or darker. Nice to see a "push pin" bracelet from Pagani on this model. Also very noticeable is the bracelet is a lot smoother than the standard Pagaini oyster bracelets ... this bracelet is significant in the lack of sharp edges and corners and the clasp is easy to use ... no scuffing of finger nails to open. Very pleased.
Yes, the bracelet is quite nice from Pagani. I have heard they upgraded to blue AR coating on the crystal. Have you noticed that?
@@EscapeWheel yes, but only as you mentioned it, but it's not striking ... no blue hue so to speak. Suppose that is a good thing as I have a green watch face. Would not object to it being very apparent if I'd the blue face.

I have the 40mm Spirit blue and this Pagani Homage really captures the Spirit of the Longines watch. The Longines Spirit is one of my favourite watches in my collection. Obviously the Longines is superior in all areas ie Movement , finish, Lume , readable and bracelet. But for the money it looks fantastic. I would still buy the Longines Spirit if you have the money.
The incoming 37mm has my attention.

Another great review! At $150, this one should be a 'Premium Pagani', IMHO. To make it worth that amount, like you, I'd like to see it with upgraded BGW9 lume, proper AR coating and, for those of us who like an exact 'Goldilocks' fit on the wrist, it should come with at least one half-link. Do that, Pagani, and I'm all in on this one.
The lume and crystal are my biggest gripes with this one. But yeah, full retinal is a bit much, but I get it, this is basically a 1 off watch with not many reused parts from what I can see...that'll drive up the price as opposed to say a sub homage where everything is borrowed.
Longer hands, blue ar coating, thinner case profile, better lume, see-through case back and and option to order with PT5000 movement.
That’s would be ideal .Hopefully on the next version
Conclusion: all waiting for version 2... simple as that. Hands will be fixed, glass and lume i doubt. So, we all wait for version 3??? 😉

Despite the short hands, I'm glad that they shortened the lugs. Longines spirit 37 has a slightly longer lug-to-lug width and yet this 38mm watch wears smaller.
Long lug to lug sizes (and "flat" lugs that don't curve with the wrist) have killed many purchases for me

Just received this. The bracelet is subpar, the case and dial are excellent for the price. I threw it on a leather band and it looks good. It would be a homerun if it was less than 11.5mm thick. As for it being a homage, this is one example where it’s nice and I can’t believe anyone would pay $2K for the real one.
I actually thought the bracelet wasn't that bad. Better than their oysters, fully articulating, nicer clasp than they usually use. Not perfect, but not horrible either
Steve, if you have any influence over Pagani Design, ask them to put a FLAT crystal with plenty of AR coating. Perhaps you might also make a video about the benefits of "cool distortion" on crystals. I heard it lots of times from watch reviewers saying how they love distortion, and I just don't understand it. Personally, when I look at my watch I want to see the dial, not mush.
Haha, I used to be one of those guys...just like the bending of light I guess. But now I really appreciate a good flat sapphire or nice double dome

Hi Steve, I discovered your channel while looking around for 11.11 deals. Never saw this watch before (or the Longines Spirit), but v2 looks perfect for me. Looks best on a vintage leather strap for me. Good that PD did not copy the 5 stars and date window of the original. However, it still needs better AR. Other than that I think it is a great looking watch.
This one has zero AR coating...but they have updated it with blue AR, so hopefully that helps some.

definitly not the standard 28.5mm dials. more on the line of 31mm I think.

While they are fixing the silly hands - what about the numerals not lining up? The left and right hand numerals on the dial are not in line. This is a defect that has bugged me on several Chinese field watches, and I see it immediately.
They didn't chNge. The dial at all so chances are that it's not fixed....that being said, I never noticed it in the first place.

I'm trying to remember if they voted on it, and majority didn't want a date.
IS there a difference between 2022 V2 and 2023 V2? I just bought the 2022 V2 for $87 and then immediately saw another Ali page with a 2023 V2 for $124. Nothing in the descriptions say there's a difference between these though. It's a bit confusing. Are these just different vendors selling the same watch at differnt prices?
As far as I'm aware, there are no differences.
When you go into the colour selection screen, the photo of the blue 2023 one says “AR Coating”, but not the the 2022 v2 one. Wonder whether that’s the difference…?
would you know what tool and size to remove the lid?
The back cover? Any normal caseback tool should work, they are pretty universal for this type of application.

They should be using an NH38 on these. Baltany is another Chinese watch producer and they use NH38s on their no-date watches.
Otherwise, these are nice homages to the Longines Spirit.

Pagani, plz Fix the crystal! Make it double dome sapphire.
This will also fix the flecto. Bad flecto is caused by the flat bottom of the crystal.
I know because I go through a lot of crystals in my mods.
Exactly. Double some and flat are acceptable IMO, single dome has nice distortions, but is crazy reflective.

It will be nice if PD can get to the point where it finds the stupid design mistakes before the release version 1 of their watches. I understand lume, lack of AR, and clasp choice were probably made to get the watches to a certain price point, but the hands are just ridiculous. That was obviously a design choice and not a "cost" decision. Did they think no one would notice? How much is this going to cost them in lost sales while they get "version 2" produced? Why do they keep doing things like this? Enough ranting; now it's time for a wish. I would like to see a crown more in keeping with the conical, aviator style crown on the Spirit and other pilot watches. Maybe they will add that in version 3.
This one's crown is very slight conical shape.
As for the designs...they are starting to run stuff by me and the guys over at Reddit (link in description) so they are getting there. This was a easy spot for sure had they just asked.

Getting a curved endlinks one will be near impossible. But straight endlinks ones are all over Ali
I've had good luck with 3rd party curved ends fitting various watches. All depends on the actual diameter of case. I'll start with a 20mm for a Seiko SKX013, same 38mm diameter case.
If everybody is holding out and waiting for V2 it will never come ! :-) Pagani needs to sell at least the majority of V1 before they start producing V2 if they want to avoid loosing money on V1. To be honest, I don´t think the hands look that bad and the reflections dont bother me - ultimately it is a question of angling the watch to be able to see the dial/hands or maybe avoiding direct sunlight when looking :-) So I have ordered the blue V1 and am looking forward to receiving it.
If V2 is a killer IRL and maybe if they have made other improvements I will consider buying the V2 also - maybe in a different colour :-)

@@EscapeWheel - seems like V2 is up for sale now. I am a bit excited, because when I ordered my watch the ad did on one of the pictures show the larger hands. So I included a message, that I would like to receive the version with the longer hands (please ! 🙂). And shipping has taken longer than usual for AliExpress, so I am HOPING that my watch will have the new hands - but we will see, when it arrives around 6 to 20th of June (knock on wood) !

Just unsure why say it is homage of longines spirit. Just because longine is a more expensive watch.... Quite a normal looking watch. Something like any watch in the world is homage to rolex and patek philippe....
Yeah, homage is a pretty vague term...but the font, layout, bracelet and little details are heavily inspired by the spirit (like the diamonds as markers)
You obviously havent compared the Longines Spirit. This is very much a copy in all but the hands and lack of date window.
this watch will be better if lume is improved, because the lume of this watch is too weak

Beautiful dial but shame about the lume. I'd rather spend a bit more and get a complete package. When I wore mostly dive watches, I'd take them off at night because I didn't want to "clonk" either my spouse or one of the dogs with it while I rolled around in bed. With lighter watches, I like wearing them in bed and really notice which ones have lume that lasts until the morning.

I guess that depends on the person and preferences. There are no rules to watch sizes
@@EscapeWheel Yes, there are no rules, but there are trends. For example, most men's watches during World War II were 28-34 millimeters, and 38 were already quite large. Today the big watch would probably start at 46.

38mm is a good thing. BUT 13mm is too thick. Uncomfortable and ugly. Should be 10mm or less.
If you are willing to go to a different movement, sure. 10mm thick isn't doable I don't think...not with the NH35 at least.
@@EscapeWheel you can get a NH35 to fit in a case of about 11mm..all they needed to do is slim down the mid case and increase the case back depth..since you dont see the case back on the wrist it would look a lot better and slimmer...but that crystal is the big deal breaker...terrible reflections
@@deandee6298 11mm and changes with flat crystal. The 13mm included the doomed sapphire which is at least 1.5mm, but does not add much to visual thickness when worn. Also, I would rather have this mid case than a thinner one with thick case back which cause the case to appears floating on the wrist.
