    A little more color: Program Plus does have an electronic metal shutter but it’s a slower 1/1000 unit compared to the ME Super or Super Program’s 1/2000 units. Other additions for the upmarket Super Program - shutter priority autoexposure mode, TTL flash automation, and a backlight button to illuminate the viewfinder LCDs. I’ve never seen an all black example but I think they exist.

    Helle Bronco, thank´s for your videos. They are helpful. I´ve got an black Pentax program A with manual. But the problem is the counter for the pictures. It only works by pulling the xxx for the next picture, but don´t go back if you roll the film back. Any idea to solve the problem? Thank you from Germany

    As I was a young boy who wanted to shoot pictures, my dad gave me an Pentax MG. It was a great learning camera, but I got over it quite quickly since it got no real manual control. So I wanted this Program A quite badly. But at that time the whole country experienced rapid inflation (oh boy sounds kinda familiar these days), so my dad had no more money for my hobby. When I got older and started to make my own money, that era of cameras was already over; the autofocusing one was in full swing...

    Just got a Pentax super program but I can't seem to adjust the Iso dial. Either I'm just doing it plain wrong (I'm trying to pull up on the dial to rotate it) or it's stuck. Any help?

      Hello! Congratulations on getting a Super Program, I prefer those to the Program Plus primarily because of that shutter speed read out. To adjust the ASA though there is a small button on the left side of the dial and it you push down on that and rotate the inner ring of the dial that should move the dial. Thanks for watching and I hope that helps!

      You only have to push the button to move in and out of the auto mode otherwise you can just turn it

    How much would you expect to pick one of these up along with lenses?

      I got this one for around 30 buckaroos but without a lens, however 3rd party pentax lenses are plentiful and can be found for low cost so if you spent the time looking you could probably get a full kit for around $50 bucks or so. Good Luck!

    This one is cool but the super program is a bit nicer IMO. Thanks for sharing

    Do you know the trick to reset a stuck shutter with one of these?

    • @RompingBronco
      @RompingBronco  3 роки тому

      That depends on a couple things, I'd check the mirror first (either by looking through the viewfinder or removing the lens) if the mirror is stuck up, open the back and check the curtain. if there is what looks to be a "hinge" in the curtain if you lightly push straight down on that the mirror should release but that is typically indicative of a problem with the advance and curtain linkage. But if the mirror is down and it's still stuck that's a bit more of an issue. I hope this helps, if you need anything more specific feel free to ask!

    Does this have the same tendency to jam as the ME Super? I'm looking to replace/augment my ME Super, but I'm concerned about long term reliability.

    • @RompingBronco
      @RompingBronco  2 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately it does have a similar advance linkage system that is prone to the same kind of failure. Fortunately they are "easy" to fix but still it is something to keep in mind. Pretty much the only pentax system with this form factor that doesn't suffer from this issue is the MX.

      @@RompingBronco thank you very much. I have an ME Super that I couldn't do the "easy" fixes for that's currently at the shop.
      Obviously you're not the one doing repairs to my specific camera, but assuming parts replacement/CLA/etc, do you have an idea how a freshly fixed up ME Super would last before acting up again? Do you think it would be worthwhile jumping ship to a different company and mount altogether?

    • @RompingBronco
      @RompingBronco  2 роки тому +2

      There's no real clear answer unfortunately, if it's getting serviced that will likely keep it chugging along nicely for a long time to come, my recommendation is to just always leave it advanced to maintain tension in the system. Very rarely do freshly serviced ME Supers act up but it's always good to have that in mind. Personally I love the ME Super system even with it's shortcomings so I'd say probably not worthwhile if you are currently getting it serviced. However if you don't feel confident in using it anymore I'd say it may be worth it to move on to a different camera and if you don't have a lot of Pentax specific gear than it's always kind of fun to explore and see what's out there! All of this is kind of dependent on your preference of course but if it was me I'd stick with the ME Super.

    Hi I just Want to switch the camera on, I've already installed the batteries but nothing seems to be happening!!

    • @CowCommander1
      @CowCommander1 2 роки тому

      Don't know if this helps but if it's on lock then it won't turn on basically. If that doesn't work then the batteries weren't put in correctly. Otherwise I cannot think of something else sadly!

    • @kaitliew5687

      Oh and if should automatically shit off after 30 seconds but if it doesn’t, then switch it to auto on the top dial (the one around the shutter button)

    • @RompingBronco
      @RompingBronco  2 роки тому +1

      Hello! I am happy to help. I'd say your first step should be getting 2 LR44 1.5 volt batteries and putting them in the bottom of the camera to see if the camera is getting power.

    • @RompingBronco
      @RompingBronco  2 роки тому +1

      @@taralang1776 I'd say you should get some film, just keep in mind that without batteries you will be limited to the 1/125x and Bulb
      so you'll probably want to just keep it at 125 and adjust the aperture depending on the light!
