I was vegetarian for 3 years and vegan for almost 1 year, I had to stop for financial and health reasons but still believe in the practice and would continue if I could - She is extremely out of touch with reality and it's upsetting to listen to her guilt trip people into veganism by giving graphic descriptions of animal abuse. She criticizes Mr. Beast for feeding the poor food that isn't vegan but also doesn't give a fuck about people who are suffering in the moment? She failed ethics class damn
I'm glad you mentioned health reasons. I was never less healthy when I was a veggie. My doctor said I had to start eating animal proteins again, or else the health issues I'd developed being vegan could permanently damage my organs.
Exactly! I love all your points and I'm so sorry you aren't able to live in the way you'd like. I totally agree on the ethics bit. My goal is to do more good than harm. If I believe being vegan is a moral good and hurting others is a moral harm, I wouldn't hurt others to get a tiny percent to be vegan. This makes me wonder if she understands that she is harming people. And if she doesn't, I'm concerned for her connection to reality and her mental status.

I honestly would become vegan because I hate seeing animals suffer, but I am the picky eater to end all picky eaters, I have so much trouble with food and most of the things I like aren’t vegan. So if I were to completely cut everything out of my diet that isn’t vegan then I would very probably die from starvation. If it’s a choice between me eating or animals living it’s going to be me.
I hate when vegans tell others, who couldn’t stay vegan, that they “didn’t do it right.” When I saw these comments, I worried a vegan would swoop in and do that. Not every diet works for everyone. Some people have pre existing health problems, etc, and I think it’s very irresponsible of others to have the audacity to try to tell others what they should eat and what to do as far as exercising, because it can actually be dangerous.
As a queer disabled poc, it rubs me the wrong way when people try to compare any marginalized group of people to animals. Even when they mean it in a "positive" way, it just feels like dehumanization. Especially because they tend to do it to groups, that already get dehumanized all the time

In 10 minutes, more animals will be killed in the animal holocaust than the Holocaust. We need look at it from the VICTIMS point of view, they don't wanna die so you can have a little bit of pleasure. People say Vegans are "forcing their views" by just saying words. Can I just say her obsession with saying animals are killed by having their throats slit is so weird? Like she's clearly saying it to get a reaction out of people and make them feel bad but in reality, animals killed by having their throats slit are usually from a kosher farm which by definition gives them the best life possible, and when they are killed it's done in a very specific way so that they die before they're even able to register any sort of pain. It's ironically the more humane way to kill an animal for meat.
Also, I have seen many a chicken slaughtered and butchered, but no one has ever slit their throats. You take the whole head off in one go, quick and clean. If it's done poorly that can lead to some interesting situations (i.e. 'Mike the Headless Chicken'), but it's way more humane then trying to efficiently slit their throats and bleed them to death. I'm all for humane treatment of animals raised for consumption, but people like TVT make me want to scream. They are NOT helping their cause.

Honestly she’s one of the most privileged people ever. Like do you know how expensive it is to be vegan? Like I can’t pay 6 bucks for Brussels sprouts I can pay 2 bucks for a dozen eggs though. Btw Most things labeled organic in stores arent even organic. The label of organic gets them more $$. Organic only means they use organic pesticides on their food if it is actually organic. One example is neem oil which kills all bugs including pollinators. Usual non organic pesticides are typically not as harmful to pollinators but target certain bugs instead. Kinda wild if ya ask me. Raising your own hens is pretty fun btw they have all sorts of kinds of egg colors to pick from. Would reccomend:)
Same, plus I'm anemic, I need meat as it's a good source of iron, and taking supplements on top of the meds I already take is just...no. Plus, iron tablets often can cause constipation. I already have to take them when my levels drop down because I struggle with eating enough iron currently (on foodstamps). It's just overall easier to keep high iron foods in my diet than eliminate them, and things like salmon and chicken are decent sources. I'm still learning though what foods are best, but my doc wants me to avoid liver if I can, not sure why, she said it's great for iron but she still doesn't want me eating it. I gotta read the packet she gave me about both high iron diets and the one about low-sodium diets (to try to help control my high blood-pressure.)
"Why the fuck aren't you vegan yet?" Well, for starters, the cost of food is already getting pretty expensive, but to go vegan is *even more* expensive. Maybe for some it isn't, but definitely is where I live. So, if you really want more people to go vegan, how about you get the cost of vegan foods down, so it's actually accessible to everyone? A salad is $6, while a burger is about $2-$3 (depending on where you go). Sorry, but I'd like to get a decent amount of food in my stomach consistently, like most people.
This is absolutely true. (I'm not vegan) but I eat a lot of vegan meals because it is cheaper for me than buying meat. I can easily live off a pot of kale soup (with ginger, cream, misc beans and garlic) for two weeks. But that is definitely not an option if you live in a city, it's only cheaper for me bc we grow everything except the ginger
Like especially if you don't have time. You can't get super cheap vegan meal to just throw into microwave or oven and it will be ready in 15 minutes. Like rice with letils/pulses/beans is cheap, but you also need variety with your protein or you will die from boredom and tofu and meat alternatives aren't cheap. Cause there is also matter of nutrition. Like many poor families will have vegan meals, not because they care about animals but because there is nothing else to eat. Like butter pasta. With the fake butter. Cause they got no money for actual butter. Pasta bolognese but without the meat cause they could save some money until next paycheck. And then usually you have learn to cook a bit differently because it's not "just cook as I always do just swap for vegan protein" you have to adjust the recipe a bit. And it's 10000 times worse if you wsnt to go out. But you can always be like "vegan at home" or just cut down on meat consumption like "meatless mondays" cause it isn't "all or nothing".
Also, it's really hard to get the nutrients you need on a vegan diet if your poor. The cheaper you need to eat, the harder it is to find nutritionally balanced foods.

That Vegan Teacher is one those people who conveniently forgets that nature isn’t just beautiful. It’s also violent, gross, bloody, and downright horrific at times. There are things that go down in the animal kingdom that make whatever happens in a slaughterhouse look tame by comparison.
I’m a zoology student, and honestly people can’t even fathom the stuff that happens in the animal world. Some species of birds have evolved to have 2 eggs and eventually kill one of them because they can only raise one, when a male lion takes over a pride, he kills all of the babies and r@pes all the females of the pride to make sure all the cubs in the pride are his. Definitely not pretty.
As true as that is, with factory farming the extent of terror and torture can be endured for the animal's entire lifespan versus only a short time frame usually in nature. It is something unique and something I think a lot of people would rather not do. We all must die but I think many would suggest we have had a chance to really live first and not prolong psychological torture if possible.

I have IBS and can’t eat most fruits and a lot of vegetables. I would become so malnourished as a vegan, and unfortunately I mentioned this in one of her comment sections and was inundated with radical vegans telling me my life and nutrition is not worth the animals dying 🥹 I’m a veterinarian, I think I care plenty about animals, but I also would like to avoid hospitalisation if I can. Safe to say, I avoid her videos like the plague 😅
Omg I'm so sorry. I also have IBS as well as a hiatus hernia with very bad acid so a lot of fruits and veggies either give me acid or mess up my stomach too (like I love apples and bananas but they give me super bad acid) plus they are very expensive where I live so most of the foods I eat are from animal products and I barely eat meat too. It's really awful that they would attack you like that for literally having a chronic illness like wtf are you supposed to do, just have a sore stomach and be in the bathroom all day just for them to be happy?? Ugh.
I can't believe her comments berated you basically for having a medical disorder that makes that lifestyle dangerous for you. I have major problems gaining weight and when I did go vegetarian it made it so much worse, not only was I losing weight due to less nutrients but it was also physically making me sick so I was losing weight that way too, I had to give it up.

I tried going vegetarian and my body couldn't handle it, I felt like crap and kept losing weight (I was underweight to begin with) not to mention my vegetarian meals costed more than the meat based meals and not everyone can constantly afford that

I believe Tommy was 16 at the time and she kept making clips talking directly to Tommy about introducing him to a "nice vegan girl" or something like that. Queer vegan reporting in! I’ve been a vegan for about a decade, and I was a vegetarian for many years prior to that. I primarily do it for very strong personal ethical reasons. Vegan Teacher makes me cringe so damn hard. -_- I really can’t with her. Her form of advocacy and activism is about as effective as religious proselytizing. That is, not only is it ineffective, but it simply reinforces an us versus them mentality that doesn’t do jack squat.

I used to be pescatarian. I ended having to stop after several months because I wasn't getting enough calories and became severely underweight. ironically enough, she needs to realize that some people require different diets than others
Same. I was vegan for three years but it took a huge toll on my body. I didn’t know I had genetic liver and gallbladder issues on top of IBS. I just can’t live on vegan or even vegetarian protein sources. I still avoid dairy like the plague but I had to switch to eating white meats to survive. I like fish, I still don’t like turkey or chicken but I can’t just eat fish every day lmao.
I was pescatarian and while I was really healthy, I lost my job and couldn't afford it. Not everyone has a choice for one reason or another and TVT doesn't seem to understand.
TW- food issues Hi, I've been a vegetarian since about age 14, so nearly 5 years now. I also have an eating disorder for around 7 years, several chronic health conditions and a few other struggles. These are my experiences and thoughts on That Vegan Teacher: I have wanted to be a vegan for moral reasons, but I know that I physically, mentally and economically can't. I am already at risk with my mental and physical health due to being a vegetarian, but that risk is outweighed by my want for positive change. (I am safe) I want to make it very clear that whilst I think vegetarianism and veganism are great, I do not believe those who eat meat are immoral. Nor do meat-eaters deserve the shaming and berating done by That Vegan Teacher. It is entirely a personal decision that everyone should be allowed to make, but I understand that it is not even a choice for many people. In fact, I consider myself privileged to be able to be vegetarian. Regardless, I wanted to thank you- Inabber- for making this video, because That Vegan Teacher says some things that have seriously, negatively impacted my mental health, and that of people I care about. Videos like this have been helpful to combat some of the shaming techniques that she has used, and how they impacted me. (I also recommend The Queer Kiwi's videos on the topic: they seem very well thought out, compassionate and make some good points.) I'm not sure That Vegan Teacher realizes that the people who already care, will be harmed by her words, but the people who dont care won't be impacted. It's as if she prioritizes animals way more than people in how she seems to disregard human suffering! The way she uses important social movements and the history of brutal oppression of queer people, POC (etc) as a weapon to further her agenda (however noble), is extremely disturbing and harmful. Her words can so easily fuel dangerous and destructive cycles such as food restriction etc. To hear her say that mental health, economic status or physical wellbeing is not an excuse, whilst weaponising the oppression of marginalised communities to shame people, and labelling even vegetarians with accusations of horrific violence... Lets just say, I cannot imagine finding her content before yours, and how that has probably harmed so many people. Thank you to whoever has read this rambling essay, please stay safe out there and look after yourself. Of course these are just my opinions and are not intended to cause offence in any way. You deserve to live happily and healthily, and you deserve to nourish and to love your body. TLDR- these videos are helpful as they expose and give balance to That Vegan Teacher's extreme arguments.

You definitely can "bully" people to go vegan, I went vegan because I was made to feel guilty that I was contributing to the biggest atrocity in history, I had to look in the mirror and realise that I was the problem, I said that I cared about animals but at the same time was paying for their abuse. As an ex-researcher, I would be really interested in her opinion of lab rats. In my lab, we used live animals only when cell cultures couldn't be used instead, and tried to give them a good life and a quick, painless death. We also recycled as many parts as possible, harvesting them and freezing for later use, so we wouldn't have to kill another animal. It's unfortunate, but especially cancer needs to be studied in a living organism. And at least in my case, better rats than humans.
Holy shit the American healthcare system needs to hear about this idea of not experimenting with cancer on humans. But seriously it makes me feel so much relief. I understand why rats have to be used. I also know newest research they're capable of empathy towards absolute strangers rats and that they're just awesome. But they're used because they work exceptionally well. It eases me you strive to give them the best life and that you reuse parts. It's awesome. I personally am a little horrified at that one place in the world where rats are illegal and I fully believe that they have the right to the planet as all other animals. Worst part is that it's true. What we did to animals is the biggest crime of humanity. Tigers and cats hunting even chimps hunting bushbabies eating them alive cannot be compared to the ways humans industrialise this and I for one am very anxious to have ants be food (even though it's not ideal their handlers the handlers of food ants explain it's obvious they have feelings and experience them a little in a hive mind manner). What this woman is doing is so harmful to vegan cause and forcing animals who are supposed to eat at least some meat to eat none... Cats die from that. Most household cats have health problems because they're fed Whiskas which is plant based and cats just can't eat like that. So I am happy you're out there and you care about rats. And you do what you do the way you do. Wish it wasn't necessary. But also... All accomplishments of human medicine can and some are translated to animal medical care. When I was 11 my cat died of leukemia. The kitty I have now is vaccinated to decrease risk. I am not naive. This was tested too. So thank you and please continue caring for the rats in your care.
I've got a degree in Animal science (Australia) There's a whole component on ethics for research and the work and reviews you need to go through before starting. You have to plan your research methodology using the 3 R's: Replace, reduce and refinement. Research proposals have to go through an ethics board to explain why you couldn't use another method beside an animal (replace), justifying the numbers needed to use (reduce) and your method in detail to show humane treatment (refinement). Curious, was this your labs approach? I had thought this practice for animal ethics was common
@@leahl5984 Yeah, we obide by those rules too (Czech Republic)! In my lab, we used rats only in the most extreme studies, along with mice. Usually, we would work with cell cultures. Anyone, who worked with live animals had to take a long week course on top of the classes you take in uni concerning animal testing. Only 2 people in the whole lab were allowed to euthanise the animals, because you need another special course with attestations for that. And now for the not completely legal part.... If we had any animal subjects where autopsy wasn't needed and whose quality of life wasn't affected by the testing.... we would smuggle them home and keep them as pets 😅😅

I know this is honestly inconsequential compared to literally everything else in this video, but I was shocked when I was scrolling through TikTok (yes, I'm a victim of the mindless content there, it's a guilty pleasure) and a livestream of her dancing just popped in my feed. There were tons of people watching, people cheering her on, etc etc, so the saddest part about this is that there's evidence that she still has a fanbase. She actually still has a fanbase. People were requesting songs, she was doing her weird little jig, and there were hardly any hate comments in the live chat (which I only clicked to see out of morbid curiosity). There were a couple people saying "omg 💀" or "I can't believe this" but mostly it was people cheering her on. It was a little bit sickening, honestly. This is 100% just a small little thing I noticed, but gosh did it make me feel sick.

It took me years to realize my identity and find acceptance (still haven't come out to my parents and it's so hard to keep it secret from them). Generations of queer people have suffered and died for the community to gain recognition and basic human rights, which we still dont have in so many places. For her to say that our struggles are worth less than some chicken is truly insulting.
I grew up in a rural farm community, there were very genuinely more cows than people. I wish she actually knew how farming works people care about their animals, happy animals produce more and better products. Now are there issues with factory farming 1000% but animal husbandry isn't inherently cruel. I've raised and slaughtered pigs and chickens they lived the absolute best lives they could and then served a purpose when they died.

With her addressing the lgbtq+ community... my friend is a vegan lgbtq member, I'm a vegetarian one. And it's bloody expensive. Not everyone can keep up this lifestyle because if cost alone, not even taking into account health issues or allergies that people may have. It's not an easy lifestyle to live at all.

Interesting fact: cows are terrible mothers. Why? well it's because of selective breeding. Likely to make the cows more docile? But in some cases the mother instinct isn't really there as strong as it was when cows were wild. So now we need farmers around. And I agree that there is absolutely parts of the meat industry that need to be improved and made more humane but like, maybe go after those companies instead of youtubers trying to do good things? I've legit heard people comparing animals to Jews and the holocaust for veganism my whole life. I had a full fledged argument with one of my professors about it in 2014-15 because he kept comparing cows to jews in cattle cars :/ Every time i got interested in veganism, that's the kind of thing that pushed me away

Can't it be considered animal abuse to force your pet to be vegan? Dogs aren't meant to be vegan and it's not like a moral choice they can make for themselves either. You are forcing your pet to go against their natural instincts. How is she being absolutely sure that her dog is not suffering because of the vegan diet, if she isn't constantly making sure that her dog is ok with this diet and isn't malnourished then she is not putting her pet's health above her own moral code which is neglectful.

My understanding is that dogs can be vegan, unless they have certain allergies/health conditions, as they are omnivores. There’s certainly no way for cats to be vegan without it being abuse because they are obligate carnivores. That said, there are plenty of herbivore pets if it’s that much of an issue for someone. Like get a rabbit and leave cats alone.
Obviously there are a million reasons to not go vegan but to highlight a couple: 1. Money - as other commenters have said, for some people being vegan can be cheap! But not everyone 2. Accessibility - those with physical or mental disabilities and disadvantages often need convenience that is not so easy with vegan meals, especially when combined with a tight budget 3. Eating disorders - this one feels particularly important for me to point out. Many people struggle with eating disorders, whether they're the restrict kind, picky eating kind, binging kind, or anything else. For these people, following a limited diet like veganism can be very dangerous. If I were to go vegan, I would pretty much live off of lettuce and certain fruits. I would get practically zero protein, fat, or carbs, and would probably take in dangerously low calories each day. Even if I did desire to go vegan, it's just not an option for me, at least without a long time of /successful/ therapy.
THANK YOU for pointing out eating disorders. Some people really do not understand how hard it is to just eat some days, let alone having to specifically eat things that stay in a certain “diet.” Every time I’ve tried to even go vegetarian, my brain reverts back to it’s restrictive way of thinking and I just can’t keep trying to do something that is actively harming me.

(Member of the LGBTQ+ community here) "Members of the LGBTQ+ community, why aren't you vegan yet?" The answer, for me, is actually quite simple. I simply don't feel satisfied on a vegan diet. When I eat meals that are strictly vegan, I find myself still hungry. Then I end up overeating trying to make myself feel full and satisfied with what I ate. I need lots of proteins (meats, fish, tofu but it needs to be paired with something like eggs, etc) in my meals to feel satisfied. I like feeling like I've eaten something after so many years of starving myself (struggled with mild anorexia since I was in middle school). Will I take away the foods that make me feel happy with my meal, make me feel like I've eaten, and simply satisfied with my food? No. Absolutely not. Sorry 💁
it's also expensive, can one make vegan meals cheaply? yeah probably. Can one have a full balanced vegan diet on the cheap? Not a chance. The amount of suppliments one has to take to offset the lack of amino acids and basic nutrients in veggies racks up quick.
I feel the same way. It does make me feel bad, in a way, I know how terrible the meat and dairy industries are awful...however, I need protein to be full and fully awake. And I try to get a balance of plant and animal protein, and I am totally into meat alternatives that will bring down the demand...but yeah, I'm gonna eat meat. I need to, basically, but I also enjoy it.
I don't have to eat meat all the time, my sibling and my best friend are both vegetarian so I've had meatless dishes before, but I just don't want to go without eating meat ever again because I enjoy eating meat, and I need a balanced diet.

We slit the throats of baby cows by taking their milk? ... Um... I've worked on a ranch, and THAT'S NOT HOW THAT WORKS!!!!! They had so much extra milk that they could have fed TRIPLE the amount of calves AND have them be super fat and happy. The ranch I worked at STILL had to throw away milk at the end of the season because they couldn't sell it all. They gave a lot of milk to people working there, which was awesome, and I would have refused to be vegan on that fact alone. This ranch also gave a lot of eggs to workers, which was also nice. Sorry, but some of us like feeding our kids, plain and simple. And I'm not even going to touch on her comments about the LGBTQ+ community. What's next, attacking autism? Like, seriously, woman, get a clue!

I am afraid to say, she actually has used autism in her videos in the past (notably in relation to the famous "milk gives autism" complotism). And this is the second LGBT+ attack that I'm aware of (being gay I'm always inclined to uppercut her when she says we're basically unruly children far too happy that we could have a TNMT backpack instead of a Batman one, and shouldn't bother the world too much about it but rather focus on another fight because "let's face it, it's not that bad any more, and wasn't." That being said, I live in a semi-rural town and helped at a local ranch for a spell and totally agree that she is extremely out of touch of what a well managed, human-sized ranch is about. (because let's remember she mostly knows dairy farms through documentaries like Dominion that may or may not be outdated, and was about industrial-sized farming.)

Instead of guilt tripping people and trying to force them into changing their diet, maybe sharing info about affordable meat-free alternatives and recipes etc would be more helpful? When i stopped eating meat it took me a while to figure out how to replace all the stuff i used to eat with plant based options and i still struggle with cutting eggs off my diet because i like to bake. Saying "go vegan" isn't helpful, people need to know HOW to go vegan. Whatever this woman is doing just pushes people away.

I remember asking her a very honest question one time, I have a bearded dragon and he needs to eat living insects so I asked would it be better to feed him living creatures or risk him getting sick by not giving him feeder insects because they are living things....I was ignored
Make sure he has a healthy diet of bugs! If it really makes you feel bad to feed living insects, you can raise them yourself instead of buying from the store. That way you can make sure they have a good life and are spoiled before they are eaten. It will save you money in the long run too :)
Man that was quite a weird collection of people to hear in a list together..... I STG her superpower is to make anyone she lashes out at look like the good guy in the situation, no matter how horrendous that person is, and even those that hate them most side with them against her. Even if she's a total troll and not serious, it's just not ok the things she does and says. Had a classmate (vegetarian) that also compared meat production to certain camps (you know which ones) during a presentation. The teacher had to stop him because it got worse the longer he talked. That guy was the reason I never talked about being vegetarian at school because I was so embarrassed 😅

Food bank volunteer here, since she decided to bring up Jimmy’s food bank. She clearly has no knowledge whatsoever on how a food bank operates, and while I am a volunteer, I’ve learned this stuff since I have a degree of authority at the food bank I associate with and I need to know these things in the case someone has to take charge. So, we don’t choose what we get in the warehouse, it’s all sent to us by the public and businesses, both on a local and corporate level. We get sent generous donations and we give it out to the people who come through, of course with a limit so everyone gets equal share. We also don’t care who takes what, if they want it, it’s theirs for no cost, the demographic we serve is generally the elderly and homeless, so we look out for them by giving the stuff they need or want to keep going, and I do take pride in it. And as for some extra notes, calfs aren’t killed to keep milk production, that’s counterintuitive because you would want more cows in the future to continue at a certain pace or go at a greater production capacity. Commercially sold eggs are also sterile, they could never physically hatch because those are the eggs that are meant to be used for human consumption.

If I believe being vegan is a moral good and hurting others is a moral harm, I wouldn't hurt others to get a tiny percent to be vegan. I honestly would become vegan because I hate seeing animals suffer, but I am the picky eater to end all picky eaters, I have so much trouble with food and most of the things I like aren’t vegan. So if I were to completely cut everything out of my diet that isn’t vegan then I would very probably die from starvation. If it’s a choice between me eating or animals living it’s going to be me.
I hate when vegans tell others, who couldn’t stay vegan, that they “didn’t do it right.” When I saw these comments, I worried a vegan would swoop in and do that. Not every diet works for everyone. Some people have pre existing health problems, etc, and I think it’s very irresponsible of others to have the audacity to try to tell others what they should eat and what to do as far as exercising, because it can actually be dangerous.

Can I just say her obsession with saying animals are killed by having their throats slit is so weird? Like she's clearly saying it to get a reaction out of people and make them feel bad but in reality, animals killed by having their throats slit are usually from a kosher farm which by definition gives them the best life possible, and when they are killed it's done in a very specific way so that they die before they're even able to register any sort of pain. It's ironically the more humane way to kill an animal for meat.
Also, I have seen many a chicken slaughtered and butchered, but no one has ever slit their throats. You take the whole head off in one go, quick and clean. If it's done poorly that can lead to some interesting situations (i.e. 'Mike the Headless Chicken'), but it's way more humane then trying to efficiently slit their throats and bleed them to death. I'm all for humane treatment of animals raised for consumption, but people like TVT make me want to scream. They are NOT helping their cause.

Also saying that calves get their throat slit so we can have milk is A untrue as cows can provide milk for their young while also provide milk for humans. But also B if we didn't have diary framing them those calves would never have been born in the first place...Unless she wants less alive animals? I haven't watched much of her content.

Btw Most things labeled organic in stores arent even organic. The label of organic gets them more $$. Organic only means they use organic pesticides on their food if it is actually organic. One example is neem oil which kills all bugs including pollinators. Usual non organic pesticides are typically not as harmful to pollinators but target certain bugs instead. Kinda wild if ya ask me.

Same, plus I'm anemic, I need meat as it's a good source of iron, and taking supplements on top of the meds I already take is just...no. Plus, iron tablets often can cause constipation. I already have to take them when my levels drop down because I struggle with eating enough iron currently (on foodstamps). It's just overall easier to keep high iron foods in my diet than eliminate them, and things like salmon and chicken are decent sources. I'm still learning though what foods are best, but my doc wants me to avoid liver if I can, not sure why, she said it's great for iron but she still doesn't want me eating it. I gotta read the packet she gave me about both high iron diets and the one about low-sodium diets (to try to help control my high blood-pressure.)
"Why the fuck aren't you vegan yet?" Well, for starters, the cost of food is already getting pretty expensive, but to go vegan is *even more* expensive. Maybe for some it isn't, but definitely is where I live. So, if you really want more people to go vegan, how about you get the cost of vegan foods down, so it's actually accessible to everyone? A salad is $6, while a burger is about $2-$3 (depending on where you go). Sorry, but I'd like to get a decent amount of food in my stomach consistently, like most people.
This is absolutely true. (I'm not vegan) but I eat a lot of vegan meals because it is cheaper for me than buying meat. I can easily live off a pot of kale soup (with ginger, cream, misc beans and garlic) for two weeks. But that is definitely not an option if you live in a city, it's only cheaper for me bc we grow everything except the ginger
Like especially if you don't have time. You can't get super cheap vegan meal to just throw into microwave or oven and it will be ready in 15 minutes.
Like rice with letils/pulses/beans is cheap, but you also need variety with your protein or you will die from boredom and tofu and meat alternatives aren't cheap.
Cause there is also matter of nutrition. Like many poor families will have vegan meals, not because they care about animals but because there is nothing else to eat. Like butter pasta. With the fake butter. Cause they got no money for actual butter. Pasta bolognese but without the meat cause they could save some money until next paycheck.
And then usually you have learn to cook a bit differently because it's not "just cook as I always do just swap for vegan protein" you have to adjust the recipe a bit.
And it's 10000 times worse if you wsnt to go out. But you can always be like "vegan at home" or just cut down on meat consumption like "meatless mondays" cause it isn't "all or nothing".
Not to mention allergies and living in the regions where you have very scarce variety of food.
Also, it's really hard to get the nutrients you need on a vegan diet if your poor. The cheaper you need to eat, the harder it is to find nutritionally balanced foods.

I’m a zoology student, and honestly people can’t even fathom the stuff that happens in the animal world. Some species of birds have evolved to have 2 eggs and eventually kill one of them because they can only raise one, when a male lion takes over a pride, he kills all of the babies and r@pes all the females of the pride to make sure all the cubs in the pride are his. Definitely not pretty.

As true as that is, with factory farming the extent of terror and torture can be endured for the animal's entire lifespan versus only a short time frame usually in nature. It is something unique and something I think a lot of people would rather not do. We all must die but I think many would suggest we have had a chance to really live first and not prolong psychological torture if possible.

I also have IBS as well as a hiatus hernia with very bad acid so a lot of fruits and veggies either give me acid or mess up my stomach too (like I love apples and bananas but they give me super bad acid) plus they are very expensive where I live so most of the foods I eat are from animal products and I barely eat meat too. It's really awful that they would attack you like that for literally having a chronic illness like wtf are you supposed to do, just have a sore stomach and be in the bathroom all day just for them to be happy?? I have major problems gaining weight and when I did go vegetarian it made it so much worse, not only was I losing weight due to less nutrients but it was also physically making me sick so I was losing weight that way too, I had to give it up.

I tried going vegetarian and my body couldn't handle it, I felt like crap and kept losing weight (I was underweight to begin with) not to mention my vegetarian meals costed more than the meat based meals and not everyone can constantly afford that

I’ve been a vegan for about a decade, and I was a vegetarian for many years prior to that. I primarily do it for very strong personal ethical reasons. Vegan Teacher makes me cringe so damn hard. -_- I really can’t with her. Her form of advocacy and activism is about as effective as religious proselytizing. That is, not only is it ineffective, but it simply reinforces an us versus them mentality that doesn’t do jack squat.
It doesn't just do jack squat; I feel like her methods are actively causing harm to the animals she is claiming to want to protect.
She knows exactly what she is doing. It’s such obvious bait it’s hard to take her seriously.

I used to be pescatarian. I ended having to stop after several months because I wasn't getting enough calories and became severely underweight. ironically enough, she needs to realize that some people require different diets than others
Same. I was vegan for three years but it took a huge toll on my body. I didn’t know I had genetic liver and gallbladder issues on top of IBS. I just can’t live on vegan or even vegetarian protein sources. I still avoid dairy like the plague but I had to switch to eating white meats to survive. I like fish, I still don’t like turkey or chicken but I can’t just eat fish every day lmao.
I was pescatarian and while I was really healthy, I lost my job and couldn't afford it. Not everyone has a choice for one reason or another and TVT doesn't seem to understand.

Hi, I've been a vegetarian since about age 14, so nearly 5 years now. I also have an eating disorder for around 7 years, several chronic health conditions and a few other struggles. These are my experiences and thoughts on That Vegan Teacher:
I have wanted to be a vegan for moral reasons, but I know that I physically, mentally and economically can't. I am already at risk with my mental and physical health due to being a vegetarian, but that risk is outweighed by my want for positive change. (I am safe)
I want to make it very clear that whilst I think vegetarianism and veganism are great, I do not believe those who eat meat are immoral. Nor do meat-eaters deserve the shaming and berating done by That Vegan Teacher. It is entirely a personal decision that everyone should be allowed to make, but I understand that it is not even a choice for many people. In fact, I consider myself privileged to be able to be vegetarian.
Regardless, I wanted to thank you- Inabber- for making this video, because That Vegan Teacher says some things that have seriously, negatively impacted my mental health, and that of people I care about. Videos like this have been helpful to combat some of the shaming techniques that she has used, and how they impacted me. (I also recommend The Queer Kiwi's videos on the topic: they seem very well thought out, compassionate and make some good points.)
I'm not sure That Vegan Teacher realizes that the people who already care, will be harmed by her words, but the people who dont care won't be impacted. It's as if she prioritizes animals way more than people in how she seems to disregard human suffering! The way she uses important social movements and the history of brutal oppression of queer people, POC (etc) as a weapon to further her agenda (however noble), is extremely disturbing and harmful. Her words can so easily fuel dangerous and destructive cycles such as food restriction etc.
To hear her say that mental health, economic status or physical wellbeing is not an excuse, whilst weaponising the oppression of marginalised communities to shame people, and labelling even vegetarians with accusations of horrific violence...
Lets just say, I cannot imagine finding her content before yours, and how that has probably harmed so many people.
Thank you to whoever has read this rambling essay, please stay safe out there and look after yourself. Of course these are just my opinions and are not intended to cause offence in any way. You deserve to live happily and healthily, and you deserve to nourish and to love your body.

As an ex-researcher, I would be really interested in her opinion of lab rats. In my lab, we used live animals only when cell cultures couldn't be used instead, and tried to give them a good life and a quick, painless death. We also recycled as many parts as possible, harvesting them and freezing for later use, so we wouldn't have to kill another animal.
It's unfortunate, but especially cancer needs to be studied in a living organism. And at least in my case, better rats than humans.

Holy shit the American healthcare system needs to hear about this idea of not experimenting with cancer on humans. But seriously it makes me feel so much relief. I understand why rats have to be used. I also know newest research they're capable of empathy towards absolute strangers rats and that they're just awesome. But they're used because they work exceptionally well. It eases me you strive to give them the best life and that you reuse parts. It's awesome. I personally am a little horrified at that one place in the world where rats are illegal and I fully believe that they have the right to the planet as all other animals. Worst part is that it's true. What we did to animals is the biggest crime of humanity. Tigers and cats hunting even chimps hunting bushbabies eating them alive cannot be compared to the ways humans industrialise this and I for one am very anxious to have ants be food (even though it's not ideal their handlers the handlers of food ants explain it's obvious they have feelings and experience them a little in a hive mind manner). What this woman is doing is so harmful to vegan cause and forcing animals who are supposed to eat at least some meat to eat none... Cats die from that. Most household cats have health problems because they're fed Whiskas which is plant based and cats just can't eat like that. So I am happy you're out there and you care about rats. And you do what you do the way you do. Wish it wasn't necessary. But also... All accomplishments of human medicine can and some are translated to animal medical care. When I was 11 my cat died of leukemia. The kitty I have now is vaccinated to decrease risk. I am not naive. This was tested too. So thank you and please continue caring for the rats in your care.
I've got a degree in Animal science (Australia) There's a whole component on ethics for research and the work and reviews you need to go through before starting. You have to plan your research methodology using the 3 R's: Replace, reduce and refinement. Research proposals have to go through an ethics board to explain why you couldn't use another method beside an animal (replace), justifying the numbers needed to use (reduce) and your method in detail to show humane treatment (refinement).

@@leahl5984 Yeah, we obide by those rules too (Czech Republic)! In my lab, we used rats only in the most extreme studies, along with mice. Usually, we would work with cell cultures. Anyone, who worked with live animals had to take a long week course on top of the classes you take in uni concerning animal testing. Only 2 people in the whole lab were allowed to euthanise the animals, because you need another special course with attestations for that. And now for the not completely legal part.... If we had any animal subjects where autopsy wasn't needed and whose quality of life wasn't affected by the testing.... we would smuggle them home and keep them as pets 😅😅

I know this is honestly inconsequential compared to literally everything else in this video, but I was shocked when I was scrolling through TikTok (yes, I'm a victim of the mindless content there, it's a guilty pleasure) and a livestream of her dancing just popped in my feed. There were tons of people watching, people cheering her on, etc etc, so the saddest part about this is that there's evidence that she still has a fanbase. She actually still has a fanbase. People were requesting songs, she was doing her weird little jig, and there were hardly any hate comments in the live chat (which I only clicked to see out of morbid curiosity). There were a couple people saying "omg 💀" or "I can't believe this" but mostly it was people cheering her on. It was a little bit sickening, honestly. This is 100% just a small little thing I noticed, but gosh did it make me feel sick.
When she said being proud is a waste of time I nearly lost it. And there's not a lot I have left. She's got me hanging by a thread.

Same. She has absolutely zero idea what the lgbt+ community goes through. It took me years to realize my identity and find acceptance (still haven't come out to my parents and it's so hard to keep it secret from them). Generations of queer people have suffered and died for the community to gain recognition and basic human rights, which we still dont have in so many places. For her to say that our struggles are worth less than some chicken is truly insulting.
I grew up in a rural farm community, there were very genuinely more cows than people. I wish she actually knew how farming works people care about their animals, happy animals produce more and better products. Now are there issues with factory farming 1000% but animal husbandry isn't inherently cruel. I've raised and slaughtered pigs and chickens they lived the absolute best lives they could and then served a purpose when they died.

Not everyone can keep up this lifestyle because if cost alone, not even taking into account health issues or allergies that people may have. It's not an easy lifestyle to live at all.

Can't it be considered animal abuse to force your pet to be vegan? Dogs aren't meant to be vegan and it's not like a moral choice they can make for themselves either. You are forcing your pet to go against their natural instincts. How is she being absolutely sure that her dog is not suffering because of the vegan diet, if she isn't constantly making sure that her dog is ok with this diet and isn't malnourished then she is not putting her pet's health above her own moral code which is neglectful.

This is absolutely insane. Some people actually NEED to eat meat because of nutritional benefits-- that is just how life goes and while yes the food industry does not need to be cruel (but that is a whole other can of worms) it is just the circle of life that the prey get eaten-- as morbid as that sounds.
You’re so right, like humans are evolved to eat both meat and vegetables, and we are more evolved and have sentient thoughts, so we are free to make those choices based on our morals and opinions. Dogs are meant to eat meat. They are evolved to do so and it’s a detriment to their health if they don’t. She’s making her dog suffer and it’s pretty sick. She could try to make good choices and source her dog food from a cruelty free company, but she needs to feed her dog meat otherwise it’s just cruel
My understanding is that dogs can be vegan, unless they have certain allergies/health conditions, as they are omnivores. There’s certainly no way for cats to be vegan without it being abuse because they are obligate carnivores.
That said, there are plenty of herbivore pets if it’s that much of an issue for someone. Like get a rabbit and leave cats alone.
Obviously there are a million reasons to not go vegan but to highlight a couple:
1. Money - as other commenters have said, for some people being vegan can be cheap! But not everyone
2. Accessibility - those with physical or mental disabilities and disadvantages often need convenience that is not so easy with vegan meals, especially when combined with a tight budget
3. Eating disorders - this one feels particularly important for me to point out. Many people struggle with eating disorders, whether they're the restrict kind, picky eating kind, binging kind, or anything else. For these people, following a limited diet like veganism can be very dangerous. If I were to go vegan, I would pretty much live off of lettuce and certain fruits. I would get practically zero protein, fat, or carbs, and would probably take in dangerously low calories each day. Even if I did desire to go vegan, it's just not an option for me, at least without a long time of /successful/ therapy.
THANK YOU for pointing out eating disorders. Some people really do not understand how hard it is to just eat some days, let alone having to specifically eat things that stay in a certain “diet.” Every time I’ve tried to even go vegetarian, my brain reverts back to it’s restrictive way of thinking and I just can’t keep trying to do something that is actively harming me.

When I eat meals that are strictly vegan, I find myself still hungry. Then I end up overeating trying to make myself feel full and satisfied with what I ate. I need lots of proteins (meats, fish, tofu but it needs to be paired with something like eggs, etc) in my meals to feel satisfied. I like feeling like I've eaten something after so many years of starving myself (struggled with mild anorexia since I was in middle school). Will I take away the foods that make me feel happy with my meal, make me feel like I've eaten, and simply satisfied with my food? No. Absolutely not. Sorry 💁
it's also expensive, can one make vegan meals cheaply? yeah probably. Can one have a full balanced vegan diet on the cheap? Not a chance. The amount of suppliments one has to take to offset the lack of amino acids and basic nutrients in veggies racks up quick.
I feel the same way. It does make me feel bad, in a way, I know how terrible the meat and dairy industries are awful...however, I need protein to be full and fully awake. And I try to get a balance of plant and animal protein, and I am totally into meat alternatives that will bring down the demand...but yeah, I'm gonna eat meat. I need to, basically, but I also enjoy it.
I don't have to eat meat all the time, my sibling and my best friend are both vegetarian so I've had meatless dishes before, but I just don't want to go without eating meat ever again because I enjoy eating meat, and I need a balanced diet.

We slit the throats of baby cows by taking their milk? ... Um... I've worked on a ranch, and THAT'S NOT HOW THAT WORKS!!!!! They had so much extra milk that they could have fed TRIPLE the amount of calves AND have them be super fat and happy. The ranch I worked at STILL had to throw away milk at the end of the season because they couldn't sell it all. They gave a lot of milk to people working there, which was awesome, and I would have refused to be vegan on that fact alone. This ranch also gave a lot of eggs to workers, which was also nice. Sorry, but some of us like feeding our kids, plain and simple.

I am afraid to say, she actually has used autism in her videos in the past (notably in relation to the famous "milk gives autism" complotism). And this is the second LGBT+ attack that I'm aware of (being gay I'm always inclined to uppercut her when she says we're basically unruly children far too happy that we could have a TNMT backpack instead of a Batman one, and shouldn't bother the world too much about it but rather focus on another fight because "let's face it, it's not that bad any more, and wasn't." That being said, I live in a semi-rural town and helped at a local ranch for a spell and totally agree that she is extremely out of touch of what a well managed, human-sized ranch is about. (because let's remember she mostly knows dairy farms through documentaries like Dominion that may or may not be outdated, and was about industrial-sized farming.)

When i stopped eating meat it took me a while to figure out how to replace all the stuff i used to eat with plant based options and i still struggle with cutting eggs off my diet because i like to bake. Saying "go vegan" isn't helpful, people need to know HOW to go vegan. Whatever this woman is doing just pushes people away.

I remember asking her a very honest question one time, I have a bearded dragon and he needs to eat living insects so I asked would it be better to feed him living creatures or risk him getting sick by not giving him feeder insects because they are living things....I was ignored
Of course.. but you have to feed them mealworms and crickets and whatnot, no skipping.
Make sure he has a healthy diet of bugs! If it really makes you feel bad to feed living insects, you can raise them yourself instead of buying from the store. That way you can make sure they have a good life and are spoiled before they are eaten. It will save you money in the long run too :)
Man that was quite a weird collection of people to hear in a list together..... I STG her superpower is to make anyone she lashes out at look like the good guy in the situation, no matter how horrendous that person is, and even those that hate them most side with them against her. How could one person say and do THIS many things wrong in such a short amount of time? Where are her ethics? Why are her priorities this out of whack? So many questions, none of which will be answered.

Food bank volunteer here, since she decided to bring up Jimmy’s food bank.
She clearly has no knowledge whatsoever on how a food bank operates, and while I am a volunteer, I’ve learned this stuff since I have a degree of authority at the food bank I associate with and I need to know these things in the case someone has to take charge.
So, we don’t choose what we get in the warehouse, it’s all sent to us by the public and businesses, both on a local and corporate level. We get sent generous donations and we give it out to the people who come through, of course with a limit so everyone gets equal share.
We also don’t care who takes what, if they want it, it’s theirs for no cost, the demographic we serve is generally the elderly and homeless, so we look out for them by giving the stuff they need or want to keep going, and I do take pride in it.
And as for some extra notes, calfs aren’t killed to keep milk production, that’s counterintuitive because you would want more cows in the future to continue at a certain pace or go at a greater production capacity. Commercially sold eggs are also sterile, they could never physically hatch because those are the eggs that are meant to be used for human consumption.
