Beautiful Brandon...when I sing honey, I bark...when you sing, your magestic voice takes me on an emotional, spiritual journey that cannot be explained in words. I've been a die-hard since the Fungus days, seen you live 8x, with 2 being on your last Make Yourself 20 tour. In Philly at the Met(born & raised from the South il' here), I landed front & center in the pit. Did I have a pit ticket? God I wished I did, though something magical happened. I arrived solo (I have this very personal connection to your music that just cannot be shared with anyone but me), with an hour to spare untill showtime (no cover band at this one), wearing my Vintage Incubus tee, crocheted bell-bottoms, & daisies in my hair (my profile pic is literally a selfie I took that night while chilling outside) grooving to the crowd around me. I hung out outside, with my Rear Orchestra ticket, eagerly waiting to experience one of my all time favorite bands to fill me with a high more powerful than any drug can give. A VERY drunk guy staggered over to me & slurred out conversation. Me being a indigo, I kindly chatted back, though could barely make out his word. He then starred rummaging through his pockets & pulled out 2 pieces of paper. He asked who I was here with (actually was more like where is my boyfriend), & when I told him I always ride solo to see Incubus, he did not believe me nor could he ingest why. After about 10 minutes of trying to convince this 2 sheets 2 the wind young man that I was solo (I was starting to get a bit annoyed & was soon going to excuse myself & head inside ), he slurred "Well look here pretty lady. If your REALLY here alone, I have an extra pit ticket, but I lost my friend & I am sooooo fucked up. If you can help me walk in & into the pit, then this ticket is yours". I was freaking out of words! But I also was afraid. Are these tickets legit? If not then I'm screwed too & would get kicked out. Are they going to let us in? This guy was so drunk that I literally had to wrap his arm around my shoulder & carry him in. But this literally was a one in a lifetime opportunity...so I took a leap of faith, muscled up my girl power & carried this man down to the ticket guys guarding the pit. While secretly freaking out inside, I handed one of them my given ticket, & he told me to hold out my wrist & banded me freedom into to pit. The security guards were giving me scary, but concerned looks, for I had to hand them his ticket & hold out his arm so they could band his wrist (YUP! he was THAT shitfaced). Once we got our bands & past the guards I honestly felt like I died & was walking into heaven! We pushed our way to as close to the stage as possible, with only a few heads away from the stage. There was still about 15 minutes till the lights dimmed out, & the drunk guy was falling into & angering all around us. People were asking me to get him out of there...but hey, I did not come with him nor did I know him...I simply helped him walk in...though I sure as hell told no one how I got there. Then the most unexplainable thing happened. The drunk guy was right next to me & I was trying my best to hold him up & not piss any more people off, then the lights dimmed out (a video screen came down & played a recording of parts of your 20yr journey). I was mesmorized by the visuals, & still in shock that Incubus was about to appear 20 feet from me. Then the lights got bright & the opening chords to "Privilege" blared out from Einziger...AWE SHIT...HERE WE GO! Banging my head, jumping up & down...YES! But here is the unfathomable...the drunk guy DISAPEARRED! I honestly think he was an ANGEL (God sure does work in mysterious ways). The rest was pure bliss & an experience I will cherish for the rest of my life! One thing that did bother me though. People...WE'RE IN THE MUTHA LOVIN' PIT EXPERIENCING INCUBUS! Put your damn phones away & let your mind, body, & spirit go wild & free! I'm sorry, I may be 42, but standing in the pit, taking in one of the most EPIC bands of all time, should not be experienced through a 6inch screen. Brandon, Mike, Jose, Kilmore, & Ben are freaking right in front of you, LIVE! Anyway, I'll shut up, though honestly one of the greatest, most outerwordly experiences of my life! Love you guys! Thank you for getting me through some very rough & painful years with eight, rockin', poetic masterpieces
