RM is a rap monster ideed and a genius lyricist.
💜🇧🇷💜RM is a writer genius! This song he just basically letting the hater’s that they can try and make fun of him, but at the end he is a Monster💜💜💜, he can rapping non stop, that he is The Rap Monster ( that is his name when he started in BTS) RM)💜💜💜 love his voice and his lyrics are amazing! Love his song Persona as well.
This is the song where RM shows his skills the most, he's insane.
Some don't like this song cause it's a show-off with some non-sense lyrics but this is a response to the k-hip hop rappers scene who criticised him for becoming a kpop idol (he and suga were both underground rappers). This track is to say "you criticize me but all you do is spitting fire with no decent lyricism, I can do it too if I want to, but better than you", so he's basically trolling (and the song is called "Joke" for a reason).
RM is actually one of the best lyricists in K-pop hands down.

I'm so glad you checked out this song! Yea this is one of the few times that we get to see RM go OFF rapping in a song. Most of the time Suga gets the really fast/main rap parts in BTS songs (unless it is a rap line song) & RM has this cool swag in his rap normally. But with this song we all can see that he is just holding back most of the time so he doesn't kill us 🤣
The song is far from meaningless. It's very witty and sarcastic. It's FIRE. The wordplay is absolutely GENIUS! At one point RM uses French too. That makes it 3 THREE languages. I've seen bad translations tho. Definitely search for better translations. I think the best is: DOOLSET LYRICS - clears all mistranslated parts.

He also has great collaborations, with rapper Wale, he collaborated with Nas and Bukubuku Korean rap group. Currently he has released the album Indigo, with many Korean collaborations: Lonely, Change and Wildflower are great, but the whole album is a masterpiece and he has also collaborated with Korean artists like Balming Tiger, Don't Ever say love me with Colde and Smoke Spray with So Joon... like many koreans say because bts music has Han and is global theyre not really kpop or typical idols anymore and tbh they never really were they did similar things like idols like the award shows, music shows, variety shows etc but theyve never been treated like typical idols because the industry tried to push them to fail. youll learn more if you react to bts hardships 2013 - 2021 by xceleste and boracity magazines videos.
XCeleste and Boracity both have great BTS videos. Taylor’s guide is very comprehensive covering up to spring 2022 (does not cover their solo works in 2022 and 23- we need an addendum Taylor). I found that starting with XCeleste’s general intro gave me some background in the beginning and then watching the more specific ones, especially Taylor’s, really helped my appreciation of the members, their challenging road to fame and all seven bring individual strengths to create a larger than life cohesive whole. Rice Squad also has a great fairly up to date video (The Most Beautiful Life Goes On -2023 edition) covering things from a slightly different view. Most ARMY love to watch these videos with reactors new to BTS so I would say don’t worry about doing them or the length. 💜
The Rise of Bangtan by Aneesa is another fantastic series of videos which many fans appreciate as they dig deeper into BTS.
@@gretchend6823 all of this !!! some people think one or two intro videos are enough for bts but imo i probably wouldve enjoyed some songs more for my first listen if i wouldve known some context about the group/members i was able to appreciate later but since these are reactors it would be best for them to know more before reacting to the songs unless they plan on doing multiple reactions to the same songs cause example spring day if they react blindly theyll think its a love song only and then when they find out how deep it is we as auidence dont get to see the reaction to them finding out that knowledge. so it would be better to know more going in. at least imo for me to enjoy the reaction its better that way.

RM is rapping on the Run the Jewels track "Oh My Darling (Don't Cry)". From my understanding it is more or less the whole track? IDK but the people in the know it seems very recognizable.
When Namjoon chose to debut in an Idol group instead of leaving the project he (and Suga) got a lot of BS about wearing make-up aka. being girls etc. They pretended he lost his skill he had shown in the underground scene where people much older were afraid to go up against him.
"Joke" is one of two songs from his first (free on soundcloud) mixtape RM that has an MV - the other being "Do You". There is a version where a fan subtitled Joke but I unfortunately recently lost all my links... 😞
The song shows of Rap techniques that turned into bars - it's literal a JOKE on the people that tried to convince themselves that he can't do it anymore and a kind of sarcastic immitation but not without meaning.
Yes, he was "unhappy".
He can still rap like that but chooses not to usually as he has outgrown his more angry adolescents. His second mixtape Mono is more "sad" and feels good when you are down/depressed. Indigo is again him "sorting his colors" and his first official Solo album. He has some deep thoughts.
But maybe you'd be happier with Balming Tiger's "Sexy Nukim (feat. RM of BTS)".

The is a MV with English captions as I've seen viewed it a few times and it has explanations on some of the wordplay as well. It's a complete diss track dissing his forma colluges in the underground Hip Hop scene who started to bad mouth him after he became the Leader of BTS. They said he could rap fast. So hence the rap and he's calling them a joke because like he says in the rap anyone can rap a string of meaningless word fast. He rap fast to showing he can indeed rap fast he do it the same they do with meaningless biddadi bobadity nonsense and he can Rap fast with meaningful lyrics. He say your a joke and this track is a Joke.
RM (and SUGA) aren't those angry young men anymore (ARMY'S love helped them, like they helped many Army's too🤗)

Oh our BTS Rapper's are not Kpop Rappers they are real Rappers they aren't afraid to use swear words and are know for dropping the F bomb. They were Rappers before they were BTS. They write their own raps they use word play, poetry they have Candance and flow. They weren't forced to become Rappers because they couldn't sing like most Kpop 'Rappers'.
It's a meaningless song, in it, he responds to those who said that he's not a good rapper since he doesn't rap as fast as them, he says that rap is abt lyrics and not abt being quick, which is the case of Joke, it's literally a joke 💜💜
It is not a meaningless song it is showing rapper that he can fast and sound good, but they're is a lot of wordplay and bars in song
