The difference between Agust D works and Joke is that Joke is structured as battle rap. RM is responding to critics using rap. He ends with the line "hit me" which in battle rap means if you think you can do better come with it. Joke is not a song. Its a rap response.

@Rebecca Buxton True that. Bobby even offered up a sheepish apology a couple years later standing next to his manager who spoke for him. That said, I think the 2014 MAMA attack, which was kind of a last straw, was a YG corporate hit aimed to denigrate IKON's competition.
This song is called Joke because RM is mocking his haters and other rappers who are thinking rapping fast makes them a good rapper. But they don't have good lyrics or the lyrics doesn't even make sense. They are just doing mumbel rap. Here is a line where he talks about it directly: "Day or night, fucking industries, you’re a bastard who can’t even rap more than three characters
Bibidi babidi bubidi babidi, nimini namini jikimi jakam". But it's RM so even those kind of lyrics are making sense (alot of Korean references) . And don't know if this is true but in this line I think he meant the other six members in BTS who are always supporting him:" Got six bullets in my tongue,
Six snakes in my lung,
Six shots got me feeling 2Pac"

What a way to start your introduction to RM 😭 RM is a lyrical genius.. I’ll put RM as a the best lyricist of this generation. He also is a versatile rapper. He can go aggressive to melodic. That’s how talented he is as a RAPPER. If you want more RM i recommend “monster” & “awakening”..bt if you want the bts rapline.. cypher pt 1-4, ugh, & ddaeng . New subscribers tho!!!

@@laksaplays137 My introduction to BTS was through Namjoon (RM), too, but it was his 2018 UN speech that served the purpose not even a song.
One of the best things about BTS (both their group and solo work - singles, albums, performances, activities, show appearances, etc.) is that the journey down the rabbit hole is a self-didactic process.
Every person/potential new fan/ARMY directs it according to their age and station in life, awareness, personality, passions, needs. If you love, respect, and support BTS, if their message resonates with you, if you carry them deep inside your heart wherever you go, they consider you their ARMY and do the same for you.
We are a family, more than a family no matter what happens in life.

Ha! Exactly the reaction I was expecting 🤗 told you to bring a seatbelt lol. I love that you looked up the song so you had an idea what it's about before listening to it. A thought/suggestion if you want, some reactors pull up the lyrics first then watch the video so they can focus on the flows.
I hope you go for Wildflower or Forever Rain next by RM, you need to hear the other side of him, the guy's a true poet!
There are 3 rappers in BTS by the way, the other one is J-Hope, he's a dancer, you can hear it in his flow, mostly bouncy happy, and then there's his album that came out last year, very different, for him I'd suggest Ego and Arson.

I was also going to say that you have no idea what you're about to go through with over 10 years of content that BTS have available BUT, you have a sister who is ARMY so I am sure she has and will fill you in...... as J.Hope has said "enjoy - enjoy"!! 💜

That song is called Joke for reason...
Some of the lyrics might have no sense fo someone who don't know RM's abilities.
He try to prove that just because some people can rap fast,it doesn't mean anything they saying have sense.

RM's "Joke" is so good, the track was made because it's a diss to rappers who only know flow, not good lyrics. Lyrics at first glance make 0 sense to some non koreans (and even to some koreans) but it's because, as RM's style, it's filled with puns and wordplay while at the same time still solid enough to see it's a diss
And THAT'S THE JOKE. The fact that RM was able to make good lyrics and rap with flow (which he switches up multiple times by the way) is what makes the lyrics genius. It's like he's flexing on those meaningless rappers with his skill in his bars AND lyric writing
Bravo for making an efford to do at least some reasearh. Most new reactors they just ask listeners to 'let them know' not sure even if they actually read any. Lazy doesn't win subscribers. Again, bravo.

RM is “literally”a genius, his word play is unparalleled even Korean born speakers say it’s so hard to translate his words into English he has so many meanings and tones he also plays Korean word against English words that may mean the same or rhyme together….. enjoying your journey on BTS , new subscriber 💜

It's really difficult to get the flow of the song when you pause and rewind that often. So, I always suggest to reactors to watch BTS music videos twice. The first time, just listen/watch it without pausing. Then watch it again, pausing to read the lyrics and make comments. BTS Army will watch your entire reaction video, so don't worry about losing your viewers due to the length. 💜💜💜

OMG the way Namjoon plays with words even between languages, flows, beats, rhythms... This man don't even breathe in this MV!!!!!!! There are like 9 different flows and at least 3 beat switchups💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 clap back at the the haters.. To this day not one of those haters have responded, lol .

Enjoying your reactions. My advice is don’t stress. With RM, I feel like you could spend hours studying his lyrics and only get a few layers down. The man is a master. Unless you have hours to slowly go through everything over and over and do research, you’re going to miss parts. His rhythms and flows alone are worth deep study. Whatever you do, don’t forget to enjoy the music! He can also do beautiful songs. I’m current obsessed with his collab with Colde - Don’t Ever Say Love Me. Probably not your thing but pretty incredible.
