Ya know, I remember watching a show hosted by James May and it was a series that covered the history of a specific toy in each episode. I remember watching it with my mom and after we watched the airfix episode, we went to the hobby shop and picked a 1/72 scale tank. I don't remember if it was a Sherman or a Churchill but I remember how that episode had inspired me to start building models, all the way up until now when I'm working on the bugger 1/35th scale tanks and 1/48th scale planes e.t.c.
Thank you James May for being a wonder inspirational figure 😁

This kit is 00 Gauge, and looks quite good on any small shunting layout. Still made by Dapol. Though, Hornby make a ready to run motorised one if you want to save the effort. In full size, they are officially the Lancashire & Yorkshire Class 21, but everyone calls them Lanky Pugs.

I motorised one of these, back in the early 1990's, using Romford axles, wheel & brass axle bushes The motor and worm were in the cab and even made it DCC with a Hornby Zero One chip in the cab. Painted it and then..... Dapol brought out a ready to run version a month later.

if anyone is wondering, the underlying meaning of these videos is that if you are after the experience of making an airfix kit, then watching videos of people putting them together instead of doing it yourself is pointless, because it deprives you of the _EXPERIENCE_ of building it. this applies to all things, the entire spectrum of recreational activities, from airfix to sexual intercourse.
