Fieldsports Britain - modern foxshooting

- A lot of foxes fall over in this week’s episode, which asks the question: what’s happened to foxshooting in recent years? Gamekeeper’s Diary legend Geoff Garrod tells the story of foxshooting and predator control by gamekeepers from early fox drivers, via lamping, to the thermal scopes of today. Plus we look at innovation from Africa: a predator-hunting set-up on the back of a bakkie that will have you reaching for your welding kit (or the number of a friend who welds). News correspondent Deborah Hadfield is investigating deer road traffic accidents. There’s a deer hit by a car in England every seven minutes. And in our Fieldtester film this week, Ian Hodge reveals the most popular PCP airguns at his shop Ian hodge Fieldsports. We’re giving away a bit of foxhunting history: the commemorative print of the #WestminsterEight bursting in to the chamber of the House of Commons. David brings good news about hen harriers from the news stump and James Marchington offers the top hunting videos on UA-cam in Hunting UA-cam. It’s all in #FieldsportsBritain

Love listening to Geoff Garrod. Such an amazing countryman who talks a lot of sense.
Very educational about the foxes. Thanks for your always interesting videos, news stumps etc..Great work 👍🙂🙏
Great film as usual, thanks for highlighting the ever increasing problems for deer coming into contact with vehicles.
Good day Charlie, awesome videos with great contents for this week, deer number has to be controlled for the sake of farmers and drivers too. Thanks and thumbs up from New Zealand,, Tony.
Thanks, Tony. / Charlie
Happy days Geoff
Cheers guys😁👍really enjoyed the programme as usual ❤️👌🇬🇧
Excellent show as usual Thank You
Here in Norway tracker teams are 247 after traffic injured game, if not much have changed Rørosbanen, railroad route through some of most covered moose areas havestill their crates with .308 m98 rifles. During winter time it was such a huge collision level that local Forrestery and Wilderbess College developed other ways to plan fences abd feed areas to get to moose and other game to migrate differently.
Just got my a50t scope just before I watch you video I was looking out back garden very impressed so far got it on the .223 now ready for tomorrow to zero shame I'm off to the Midlands game fair early Saturday morning as I would love to get out . Great ratting there good watch
Always good to listen to Geoff. But he is right,I started from using a little button call to now electronic ones and also with night vision and thermal gear.Looks like you guys have the problem with deer collisions as we do here with kangaroos. Thanks to all for another excellent show from Australia.
A very young scotty and pocky at the beginning! Miss the good old days!
well done.
I wrote off a Ford Mondeo when i hit a deer at 60mph. Their numbers need reducing.
Good video and narrative 👌
Great stuff 👍
As mentioned All Police forces/services in the UK have a statutory obligation to process Firearms and shotgun apllications so people need to take legal action against all PA's who refuse to accept new applications. This is not acceptable and we need to crowed fund legal action if BASC (Completely useless and toothless) etc can't be bothered to represent their members.
@William Tell I agree 100% with all of that.
First!
Great review Geoff, for me it was a privilege to be invited to carry a gun on fox drives back in the sixties and seventies. Some memorable times.
Not got a problem with working dogs going cheap working dogs working prices
Completely agree with you. I’m sure breeders have done pretty well over the last couple of years, so my sympathy is really rather limited if prices are returning to sensible, pre-covid levels.
Agreed. Got no sympathy whatsoever
Hi , EVERYONE,
I'm new to this channel , I've kept guns for over 40yrs , FACs , Shotguns , and Air guns , I now only do Target shooting , ( Except for Rats )
Its not that I disagree with vermin control , But aged in the mid 70s , I've seen enough blood one way or another , and if I had my time over again , then I would DEFINITELY rather work with animals than humans.
BUT , I fully understand the need to Cull , just as I understand the need to Conserve .
But what I will not do , IS GO OUT, AND DO IT FOR A BIT OF SPORT .
Thanks for this. Everyone has a different opinion about what's good hunting / shooting / wildlife management. The important thing is to be tolerant, which I am sure you are. / Charlie
