    Paige is a great player and is going to be a great pro. The Kyrie comparison is accurate.
    Caitlyn Clark is like a mid 2000s Steve Nash (7SOL) in a league that hasn’t seen that playstyle yet both in terms or viewership and competition. Casual fans are drawn to fast paced, frequent scoring and long range shots. While Paige has a lot of skill, it’s not exactly revolutionising the women’s game like Caitlyn.

    I discovered this great h.s. baller about when she was a sophomore. I had not seen any female play like PB and started to follow her career, watching every UA-cam video that highlighted Paige. In fact, when the buzz about CC started to heat up during CC’s junior year, I avoided watching CC bc I did not want to take away any shine from PB. Fortunately, I finally watched a highlight video on CC and became an instant fan during CC’s senior year. PB’s injuries also took her out of the spotlight, so I could full-on start following CC, who performed even more spectacularly than Paige, especially with her logo 3s (a term I had never heard before CC). PB’s handles are stellar, but CC showed that she had super-human skills in making long 3s and making phenomenal passes to her teammates. CC’s ball handling skills improved during her rookie year in the pros, which made her even more exciting to watch. At this point, I’d have to say that CC is better than Paige, but I am excited to watch Paige join the W in 2025. Unfortunately, what CC did to draw eyes to the WNBA is unmatchable. Paige’s game is fun to watch, but it’s going to be difficult for her to match the stir that CC did in CC’s senior year and in her rookie season as a pro.
    What CC did for Iowa is amazing, especially considering that CC took a mediocre team to two national championship games AND beat a UConn team that featured Paige Buckets. So, eyes will be on UConn this season, but CC’s supernova brightness will be hard for PB to match. Both girls are class acts, unlike Angel Reese. So, when Paige joins the WNBA, and Cameron Brinks returns, there will be excitement to watch women’s pro basketball, and it won’t rely on some bad guy reputation that Angel tried to embrace, which had a negative effect on Angel’s reputation and likeability, especially when it highlighted Angel’s offensive flaws, and her stat padding. I think that PB v CC will lead to admiration of two great players without fomenting hatred and avoiding a thuggish style of basketball. Classy players like Aliyah Boston and Aaliyah Edwards, two players whom I have come to admire (largely bc of CC and PB) hopefully will show that popularity can be developed with good basketball skills and good character. Hopefully, those who selfishly seek the spotlight, or those who stir up antipathy bc of their own racial hatred, will fade away into oblivion, and perhaps the WNBA will get a commissioner who doesn’t believe that violence and racial tensions are necessary evils to attract attention to the WNBA. I stopped watching the NBA bc of the whining, the wokeness, and thuggery that existed there. CC gave us all a good alternative to focus on. Perhaps PB’s outstanding skill set and good character, along with those same two attributes displayed by the likes of Boston, Edwards and Brinks, as well as established pros like Napheesa Collier, Kelsey Mitchell, Sabrina Ionescu, and Breanna Stewart will dominate WNBA narratives, and the racial haters and violent players will fade into oblivion.

  • @RobertDeMartin
    @RobertDeMartin 15 днів тому +8

    Nicely done. But, and this is not meant to be a criticism, besides all the basketball attributes she possesses it's 'who she is' that really puts her way over the top. She is a wonderful human being, cares deeply about people and is a great teammate. She is respected by friend and foe on and off the court and most fans who love watching her play, also literally love her as the beautiful person she is. Role model? They don't come any better than Paige.
    You wanted to concentrate on her basketball skills from a very early age up to this very moment and you did it very well. But I can also summize you will acknowledge the affect she has on so many fans is off the charts.
    One other interesting point I would like to raise and it has to do with Caitlin Clark. Caitlin, to her credit, had to get through a season in the WNBA whereby almost everyone who played against her tried to get a piece of her and she not only took a beating but improved as a player as the season progressed. It was only after a lot of soul searching did fellow WNBA players understand SHE WAS GREAT FOR THE LEAGUE and that would eventually translate to the fact SHE WOULD BE HELPING OTHER PLAYERS GET SIGNIFICANT SALARY INCREASES. So, in other words, "don't mess with the piggy bank!" So, this is great news for Paige!!! Caitlin did all the 'dirty work' to finally get respect whereby, and I hope I'm right, Paige will not be brutalized like Caitlin was when she entered the League.
    But, we're looking too far ahead, aren't we? We have a very exciting UCONN season coming up and, it won't be easy, but they will have a good chance to win a National Championship. We shall see!!!!!!! "GO HUSKIES!!!!!"

      Here are the problems that Paige will have to face (like it or not):1) 23 years old against 18 years old, last year of college in her 5th year - graduated already, just racking up NIL money and play basketball with kids younger than her, like to see South Carolina to pick Paige up the whole field of 78 feet long and take turn to guard her, long passes and logo 3s are not in her arsenal. Good luck Paige.

    Before CC broke records, there was always Paige. The difference in their respective fan bases has a lot to do with culture & what they stand for respectively, off the court (e.g. Paige highlighting the disparity of coverage due to race in sports at the ESPYs).
    Also, a lot of people don't appreciate the true elite ness & basketball IQ of Bueckers. In the 2023 season, the UCONN team was so affected by injuries Paige had to play Small Foward instead of her usual, Point Guard. And she STILL helped get the team to the Final 4. The only time UCONN hasn't made it to the Final 4 during her studyjng at the university was when Paige was on the bench recovering from her ACL tear.
